Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We eat at Kelsey’s when we are craving a delicious steak and it never disappoints. Our server Austin was excellent. He checked on us regularly and filled our water glasses as soon as they were half full. We started with the salad which comes in a bowl for sharing. It was a generous amount of assorted greens, grape tomatoes, purple onion slices, black olives and croutons. The salad dressing was very good and came in a container and was a generous serving. We ate the warm bread with our salads. My husband enjoyed the Porterhouse with garlic butter, mushrooms and onions. He said he would definitely order it again. I had the Princess Cut Filet and it was done perfectly. Our large baked potatoes came with a generous scoop of butter and sour scream. My husband enjoyed a glass of wine and I thought my mojito was good. We were to full to order dessert even though they looked delicious. When the parking lot looks busy you know the food is good. There are usually tables available as the restaurant is big inside with bar and dining room seating and a private room. They also started taking reservations for any size group.

I arrived at Kelseys and was happy to see tables properly socially distanced and the staff all wearing masks. They have paper menus to avoid spreading germs, and salt and pepper is available upon request and sanitized before being brought to the table. My prime rib was cooked perfectly and I barely needed a knife to cut it. So tender and juicy! I ordered potato soup and a loaded baked potato which were also delicious. They are temporarily serving rolls, so multiple people do not have to share/touch one loaf of bread. It is obvious that they are being thoughtful regarding the pandemic and have made adjustments accordingly. My server was very nice and attentive, and my glass was never empty. Overall a wonderful experience and a delicious place to eat!

We had dinner here on a visit to Valparaiso. We started with seafood bisque that was perfect and house salad with fresh spring mix and veggies. The filet was cooked to perfection and tender. Make sure you save room for desert. The desert tray consists of homemade selections and some from a local bakery. The chocolate cake was amazing. The service was friendly and a manager stopped by to check on service and the food also.

Share review Embed review Write an update Edit review 6/24/2020 We had reservations for 6. I called at 4, earliest they answer the phone, to add one more. I was told no. That they were already on a wait. I explained I wasn't asking for a bigger table. Just add a chair to the one we are already set up for. Still no. Five of us went anyway. The best thing was our waitress Lupe. The food was nothing special. Certainly not worth the price. There are better places to dine for less money and better food. Time for the check. One of the managers came to the table and said that my brother, who wasn't there because they wouldn't add a chair for his guest, was paying for my parents dinner. It was their 61st anniversary. When she returned to the table she handed my mother the credit card receipt that my brother asked for. No itemized bill to check over. At the time, being upset because of the whole add a chair situation. My mother took the receipt and put it in her purse. When she went to give it to my brother it was $81 for two people. I looked up the items they ordered and the total with tax was only $56.90. She called to speak to a manager to see if they would look up the itemized receipt. She was told there was NOTHING they could do. So if you do decide to spend your hard earned money there make sure you go through your itemized bill. This was our first and LAST time to dine there.

Let me start off by staying we come to Kelsey's often and have always had a good experience. This time it was below the mark. The Mushroom appetizer was amazing, the salad great, but the reason we come here for is the Steak. We had a filet and a Ribeye they were both cooked incorrectly the waitress asked if we wanted them re-cooked we said no that was fine. Besides the temperature being incorrect the ribeye just was not right, For one it seemed much smaller then usual also it almost seemed like the steak was boiled? there was no grill flavor. Like I said at the beginning we love this place and we will be back just seems like it was an off night.

Couldn’t wait for the reopening of Kelseys for my birthday dinner. My granddaughter got the lg filet . It was so stringy barely edible. A filet is supposed to melt in your mouth. It was supposed to be medium barely pink inside..I got my usual famous prime rib. They must have changed the grade of meat they get because it was nothing like what Im used to getting at Kelseys. IThe juice was the same bot the cut of meat had a weird texture. It had zero marbling and tasted like a pot roast. Nothing like the pre COVID-19 meat. Ate a little and boxed it up. The meat was so overpriced for something I could have done better at home. Won’t be back until I hear they got back their previous meat purveyor. Very disappointing birthday dinner. Sorry Kelseys it’s not the same

This place has went down hill. They charge 3.5% surcharge for credit cards. I’ve been there numerous times and it just keeps getting worse and worse. This is the 2nd time I’ve been charged for a more expensive steak than I ordered. Plus the manager was rude about it, which I couldn’t believe. Ordered a Delmonico Ribeye received a Strip steak and they wouldn’t adjust the price. Go somewhere else. Good is inconsistent and so is the staff. Place has turned into a joke.

When we go to Kelseys’s we know just what to expect. From the moment we walk in we are warmly greeted by the hostess Anna. This visit we went with friends to enjoy the high quality meats they offer. I ordered the petite filet which was tender enough to cut with my fork and my husband had the ribeye done to perfection. The other couple had the bourbon barbecue ribs and the prime rib. Our meals were nicely presented, and the service was top notch! Our server Heath is one to request, he will take good care of you! The owner Peggy personally came to our table to check on our food and share some laughs.😂. They offer a variety of desserts but their famous Kelsey Cow chocolate cake is a must! We have never been disappointed with this high quality family restaurant, one of the Best steak places in our area. Stop by and give it a try.

We went to Kelsey's for our 45th anniversary. Everything we ordered was superb. Our server was Alanna and she was terrific. She was very attentive and took care of our requests in a very timely manner when we asked for more water and more horseradish. She was very friendly and really talked up the restaurant. We really appreciate that in an employee. Like everywhere else, prices have really increased and we were a little disappointed that even the side salad was now an extra charge. That was the only reason we did not give five stars.

Hadn't been to Kelsey's in quite a while, due to Covid & just trying other restaurants. Unfortunately, the prices have increased significantly, so I settled for a lower priced entree rather than the Chilean Sea Bass I have enjoyed in the past. Service was fine.

We visited Kelsey’s to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our anniversary. We enjoyed delicious prime rib and lobster. Our waitress, Lupe, made sure we had everything that we needed, including surprising us with a luscious dessert.

The last time we were here we had the scrumptious sea bass. It is delicious and a good sized portion served with crab meat sauce and asparagus. I usually have Kelsey's reds. These are little red potatoes cooked with onion and green peppers and butter. Wonderful! Whether you get seafood like the above or the cedar planked salmon or red meat like steak or prime rib, you will never be disappointed. The salad dressings are also exceptional.

My wife and I went to Kelsey’s to celebrate my birthday. The French onion soup, escargot, and filet medallions all came to the table piping hot and were all wonderful. Our server, Michelle, was helpful, attentive, and fun. An enjoyable experience. Ask for Michelle - she’ll take good care of you.

Went to Kelsey's on a date with my husband last Friday. First night out in a really long time with him. I ordered the Kabobs and crab legs for dinner. They were both amazing and crab was perfect and sweet. Husband had the pork chop and raved about the flavor the entire time. The honey butter alone for the bread before dinner is my absolute favorite. Also tried a blueberry and lemon mule suggested by my server that was so good I had two. Usually get a salad but tried the seafood bisque soup and it was hot and flavorful. For an appetizer we ordered the bacon wrapped scallops that are absolute giant scallops and the bourbon sauce is just so sweet and amazing. Topped off dinner with the chocolate Howie and it was also really good. It was the perfect place to enjoy date night with my guy. Always a good experience at Kelsey's Steakhouse.

Excellent!!! Went to celebrate Father's Day early. Hadn't been there in 3 years and haven't had great Prime Rib in a very long time until this evening!! It was excellent! Tender, melt in your mouth, flavorful. Done just right! We ordered the rice pilaf and poured some of the au jus over it and it made it even better. Salad was fresh. Loved the onion rings for an appetizer. Yes, it's pricey, but so is everything today, so I'm glad I was happy with the meal and service. I knew ahead about the 3.5% charge if you put it on a credit card, so I was prepared with cash. No, I'm not happy about that and that would be my only complaint. That's why this will only be a place I go to for special occasions.
