Stayed at nearby Country Inn hotel and clerk recommended this when I said we wanted "to order off a menu and get a beer." Friday evening was busy but we got bar seats quickly. Food and service were top notch. Pizza and appetizers were SO good and they have a nice variety of beers on tap. Wish we had one of these near my area!

Great Pizza, sandwiches and salads

There is something very unique about their pizza dough that we love. Super crispy but bottom but airy edges. Toppings and their combos are traditional or super-creatives. Ingredients are fresh. You can basically build your own sandwich with the same add-ons (and the salads are unique and creative too). It's a noisy spot; lots of kids, and overall fun atmosphere. We have thoroughly enjoyed every visit.

Try the POTM!

Tomato Bar is one of my favorite pizza places, bar none! Pizza of the Month is always worth taking a long look at. They provide unique and distinct flavors that I’ve typically never seen at another venue. If you’re a little adventurous, give POTM a shot. They have a good selection of brews. I’ve tried a few local ciders and beers and have been very satisfied. The doughnuts (a variation on breadsticks) are quite tasty. The zesty doughnuts are not too spicy, and they come with a sriracha marinara sauce that’s among my favorite things. Although I haven’t tried the gluten-free dough, it seems highly regarded and doesn’t have the “cracker-like” look of many GF doughs.

Average Food, Loud Restaurant, We’ll Pass Next Time

The appetizer we had ordered was pretty good. It was the hummus, served with pita bread cut into triangles. Their sandwiches are served on pita bread too, most I think are but, the two different sandwiches we had were just flavorless. You have to season food to bring out the best flavor of the food that you can. It doesn’t have to be a salt seasoning but it should be something good to season it with. Bland is a word I would describe The Tomato Bar food as. When you order a pita sandwich, it is actually two separate, full pitas and no side like chips, fries or anything else. One full size pita is enough…two full size pitas is way too much. Give people an option of getting one pita sandwich with a side instead of just getting two pita sandwiches and a little seasoning will go a long way….Their pizza, just average….like eating something just so that you are not hungry anymore. It is very loud in there. It is difficult to hear anyone across the table from you talking….

Pizza!

This is a fun pizza place. The pizza makers do a lot of tossing and fancy work with the dough. They offer a small bar area. There are lots of hidden superheroes and other fun art all over the place. It is very, very loud and echoes. They are very popular, so be ready to wait. The parking is tight as they share with other places as well.

Always great pizza and service!

Love this gem of a place. Great pizzas, the crust is wonderful, always great service. We try to go every month or so early in the day, as it gets busy in the evenings. Francisco is normally our server and he is great!

Great food & service. Need earplugs if eating inside. There are outside spaces available in summer months.

Food and service are excellent. It is extremely loud. Need sound damping improvements. Can not carry on a conversation. They worked to get more eating space but did nothing for the sound. There have been Three previous restaurants in this location. All had the same extremely loud environment

Pizza you should try

Nice little pizza joint in Valapariso - and the wings were good too! Crust wasn't thin, wasn't thick, was right in the middle. We had the Good Ole Boy and the Magic Potion - both of which were the best pizza we've had in Valpo.

Great sandwiches!

I know everyone likes the pizzas, but the sandwiches are awesome. The BLTA and Dirty Bird both taste amazing. Plus, you get two pita sandwiches in one order. Quick service whether ordered online or by telephone.

Can't Wait to Go Back

Went here for lunch with a friend. I ordered a Terrapin Watermelon Gose and the Moneymaker Calzone. My friend got the Dirty Bird. We shared the Bruschetta appetizer. Everything was very good and there was nothing to complain about. I have yet to try the pizza but their menu has so many good choices it was hard to choose. The place is a bit pricey but I can't wait to go back.

Enjoyed our first visit!

Our first time, but certainly not our last. Great service - prompt, friendly, a little bit of chit chat, but not too much. Attentive. Pizza was great! Cheese bread good, but wouldn't really get it again as nothing special. We had a normal ham and mushroom, but would try a specialty pizza next time. Very impressed!

Unique and yummy!

Stopped in late Saturday (around 9) and were pleased to find no wait-and a super friendly wait staff that were not at all put out by our late arrival(they close at 10-several other tables came in after us). Service was great-and in no time we had the original doughnuts served piping hot. Such a great idea-and worth the visit if only for them! Our Magic Potion pizza arrived a few minutes later-and was seriously one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had! The crust, sauce and toppings were all outstanding (even cold the next morning!). Only wish this place was closer. If you find yourself anywhere near Valpo this is worth a stop!

Top Tomato 🍅 & Pizza 🍕, too

Super fun; tasty food and terrific microbrews at this very busy, very popular strip mall pizza destination. On Saturday night both the tables and the bar had waiting lists - and with good reason! Their specialty craft 🍕 was sensational! We split a small Bianco, oozing with marvelous mozzarella, provolone and sweet sun-dried tomatoes. The small Californian salad, with bacon bits and avocado 🥑 was a perfect light appetizer. Happily there are over 2 dozen microbrews on tap, including a “Beer of the Month,” Take-out was just as popular as dine-in. We will be back again to enjoy their other 14 craft pizzas - this summer and fall.
