Take your time and have grace at this fabulous little lunch place. Do not be discouraged by the exterior as what you get inside is pure ingredients and flavor. This is my second visit and already wanting to go back soon. First start with the cream of mushroom soup. Heaven and earthly flavors of just enough to make you want more. I had the rose water lemonade and the presentation prepares you for the taste as rose petals for garnish. Just beautiful. All of the in house desserts sounded great but I had the Almond Joy Tart. Warm and accompanied with home made whip cream. Wish they were open for dinner. Note they are not open during the winter months so call first to see if open.

We happened to find Thyme of Grace on Google Maps. Good find! The restaurant looks like a hole in the hole, beside a gas station, but the food is sophisticated and delicious. It's the perfect place for lunch if you are in or near or passing through Mishawaka. But be prepared: they do not take credit cards, only cash or check.

I read the menu online and I was intrigued. It all looked good to me, but I chose the spinach salad with warm herbed goat cheese, dried cranberries, almonds, and a balsamic vinaigrette. I was not disappointed! I tasted my husband’s cream of mushroom soup with hazelnuts and it was delicious as well. He ordered the chicken salad which had grapes and pecans in it- just as he liked, but he thought he was getting a sandwich and not just on greens. We opted for dessert and ordered chocolate tarts with a raspberry coulis and whipped cream topped with a drizzle of chocolate syrup and a shake of cinnamon. Yum! If we lived in the area, I’m pretty sure we’d be regulars.

I have been here several times and am never disappointed! The food is always fabulous and the presentation impeccable. I know someone commented about them having rated grandma's pantry, but I think the "cottage chic" mismatched vintage china, teapots, salt and pepper shakers etc., are charming! Don't be turned off by the rather humdrum location and exterior. This is my go-to for lunch with friends or sisters.

Owner, operator and chef Michele is amazing.... If you enjoy interesting favors in an eclectic setting, drive however far away you are to this restaurant! I started with cream of mushroom soup with crunchy hazelnut topping in a tea cup ... Smooth rich, but somehow light... Chicken salad ... Moist, crunchy with almonds and a hint of curry? I don't know how she made it, but it was excellent, served on perfectly fresh interesting greens. Dessert... They called it cannoli cheesecake, but it wasn't what traditional cheesecake means. It was more like bread pudding? I don't know, but it was one of the top best things I've ever eaten ... Crispy outside, creamy inside, with chocolate chunks and warm out of the oven . It was so good it deserves a new category of desserts... Cake mousse? Cream cake? Make up something, Michele! And you will meet her... She comes to visit every table to say hi, no matter how busy. Embrace the atmosphere of mismatched chairs, tables, and different kitchy salt and pepper shakers on every table as part of her charm and being genuine. Bring cash, no credit cards here ... Honest pay for an amazing meal every time.

We stopped here because it looked like a great place for girlfriends to eat lunch. We sat at our table for 10 minutes before anyone came over to us. We ordered the mushroom soup which was delicious and the chicken salad wontons and a chicken salad plate which were good but very small portion sizes. For the 3 of us, the bill was $41 (including tip) and we all drank water. The food was good quality and had good presentation, but over priced for the portion sizes. I thought the decor looked like they got random items from my grandma's house and threw them into a room. I walked out unimpressed and hungry.

Recently attended a delightful shower event here. (The restaurant apparently was booked for this special occasion on the weekend). This is one of those places I knew about, but had never experienced. The decor is cheerful and a feast for the eyes! The food was also a feast for the eyes! And equally tasty! The bacon wrapped dates were a special treat. The marinated shrimp was almost buttery in texture. The greens (which adorned several plates) were beautiful - and tasty. Flowers were abundant. Everything I ate - there was a great variety and I ate a lot - was wonderful/delicious! Actually everything about the place is a work of art - food and environment. Be sure to try the desserts! We had a dark chocolate cake that was absolutely scrumptious! And the lemony white cake (with mango - I think) was equally good - and I am a huge chocolate fan, so that was a definite surprise. The staff was attentive and gracious. Hospitality is obviously a strong emphasis for them. My friends and I - who had never experienced this place before - plan to return soon and bring others with us.

Thyme of Grace is my favorite place for a leisurely meal, with friends. It is beautiful/quirky, decorated with antiques. The menu is always terrific--the soups are particularly good. The only downside is that service is slow--but this is an advantage if you want to spend time with friends! Desserts are extra special, but I rarely have room left.

Thyme Of Grace is my favorite place to meet a friend for lunch or to sneak away to treat myself. Each dish is hand made and beautifully plated. I love the seasonal soups and salads. The menu is always rotating and changing. When you go make sure to bring cash (no credit card machine),try the cream of mushroom soup (soooo good!), and order dessert!

I come here about once a month and meet my friends and it's always a nice treat. The staff is welcoming and warm. The menu changes and it's a treat to see what creative things will appear before my next luncheon. I like that the teapots, cups, saucers, bowls and plates are all mismatched. It is relaxed and never pretentious. The ladies who own and run this little gem are open and fun and laugh with their customers. The food is imaginative and tasty and there is something for all palates. I highly recommend it.

We were driving through Indiana on the way to Michigan and saw the rave reviews so we stopped here for lunch. We had the chicken salad wonton cups as an appetizer, and the signature mushroom soup with side salads. I can't say that any item blew me away. The mushroom soup was good. I didn't care for the peppers in my salad. It wasn't that anything was bad outright. It just wasn't as amazing as others have made it sound. Overall I felt that this place has a snooty atmosphere when it isn't appropriate. The decor is artful but quirky. The bones of the building are still reminiscent of an abandoned Main Street department store complete with a drop tile ceiling and unadorned glass window wall entrance. When we walked in, the waitress continued talking with a group at another table while we stood awkwardly, for an uncomfortable amount of time, unsure of the appropriate etiquette. (Seat ourselves, wait to be seated?) We seated ourselves. The seating arrangements are a mishmash of tables, chairs, and cloth table linens of every color and print. The particular chairs we had were lumpy and awkwardly large. I enjoy the quirky aesthetic but I don't want to be uncomfortable. We ended up having two different ladies serving us for the meal. One of them seemed gentle, professional, and we enjoyed her company. The other (the same one who ignored our entrance) had unsightly long nails to be serving food and was unprofessional in appearance and service. Finally, the restaurant as a whole seems at odds with itself. The food names on the menu are as snooty as a fine dining cafe but the decor is a quirky mess and the food prices are higher than what I'd expect from the establishment. We didn't regret going. But we won't be making plans to return either.

What a charming, delightful treasure of a restaurant this is. The decor is artful and aesthetically pleasing. At our visit, a display table featured a large centerpiece "bouquet" made of croquet mallets and balls. China and flatware are pretty and mismatched. We loved the teacup and saucer in which the soup was served. And speaking of soup, the signature mushroom hazelnut concoction was killer! Totally worth detouring from the major thoroughfares for if you're just passing through the area. But Thyme of Grace is about more than excellent food at reasonable prices. It's also a wonderful place for conversation with owner/chef Michele and the good humored server who is her daughter. These are folks who are worth getting to know. We tried to persuade them to move to our small town in western NC to open a clone there, but I suspect they'll stay put in South Bend.

We just discovered this charming restaurant in River Park. It has been open for 12 years and I wish I had known about it sooner. The decor is eclectic yet lovely. The menu is different yet delicious. The banana/caramel/croissant dessert was amazing. Can't wait to try it again. Just FYI, they are only open for lunch M-F and do not take credit cards.

This wonderful restaurant is so hidden you could drive right by. Obviously, I have been so look for it, park in front or in back. Thyme of Grace is the most impressive food experience I have had in South Bend. The ambience is lovely, take a minute to look at the art works. Then the food! It's all beautifully hand made, no mixes/food service packages. There's a delightful balance of innovative variations on standard items (e.g. the chicken salad can vary by type each day.). The soups are fantastic; yesterday the corn and clam chowder was sooo good. As should be, the herbs were flavorful but not enough to actually announce that they were there (e.g. garlic should hint, not blare of it's presence). The special eggplant moussaka was lovely and lovingly presented with a portion of carrot salad and a little floral display. kI think this will be my favourite restaurant in the Michiana area; The food is fresh, unique, wonderful tasting. The presentation is fantastic. It's a pleasure eating at Thyme of Grace.
