Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very decent restaurant. The room itself was very loud. Staff was very kind and attentive. I personally really disliked the fried tofu, it badly needed salt. I enjoyed my noodle soup with chicken, it was very good. The ambiance was very lively though. I would recommend this to someone who is vegetarian. Overall a pretty good restaurant.

We order takeout from Cambodian Thai every few weeks, and stick with our favorites: Basil Fried Rice with Chicken at a level 3 for my husband, Basil Fried Rice with Tofu at a leve 6 for me, a shared order of Fried Tofu, and 2 Thai Iced Teas with Coconut Cream. The service is always friendly, and the food is consistently good. We definitely recommend it if you're in the area!

There seemed to be only one front of the house employee. She was the greeter, waitress, and cashier. They only had bottled drinks or Thai tea due to non-functioning soda fountain. Could not even offer non-bottled water as an option. The food arrived with plastic ware and in to-go dishes. The food was OK. The pad thai did not have any spice to it at all. Any Thai restaurant I have been to offered various levels of spice.

One of the worst Thai food experience! Ordered Tofu Tom Yum and Tofu Red Curry. Both were just awful! Tom Yum was so oily and sour, felt like half a dozen lemons had been squeezed into it. Red Curry was just full of salt and zero vegetables. Plus, fried tofu which I despise. Have added it to my list of Never-to-Visit-Again.

There is just something so satisfying about Thai food. It's got spice and flavor that just makes you feel so good inside. Here, it's always quick and made great. I love the Panang Curry. With customizable spice levels, anyone can enjoy the curry at a level that won't set your mouth on fire. Overall, it's a great place to get a fairly priced meal.

We ordered som tham (green papaya salad) and masaman curry. The curry was delicious, but not enough rice served with it. Should have ordered an extra rice. The som tham was really heavy with fish sauce. It spoiled the flavor and was way too salty. Food was not quite as tasty as it was the last time we ate here.

Years ago I loved this restaurant. I considered the restaurant a hidden gem before. Now the food is nothing special, and the dishes we ordered (red curry and drunken noodles) were way too salty. The reality of the bad culinary experience outweighs the nostalgia I feel for what used to be a delightful unexpected dining experience.

I ordered stir fry with tofu and their special sauce. The waiter could not describe it but I went for it anyway and it was so good! The sauce is unique, not spicy but so flavorful. My friends liked their dishes as well. No atmosphere but people come here for the food and prices

Inexpensive Thai food and attentive service. Nothing fancy. Ambiance is basically about 14 tables in a good-sized room. As expected, food tends toward spicy (you can have them adjust). We were a group of 4 and everyone liked the main course. 2 of the 4 of us didn't like the soup though. Yet... good place overall. Nice variety of dishes.

We always loved this place. They really struggled during COVID and beyond. The dinner we had recently was close to the "old days". Great food, reasonable prices. Still seem short on staff. Highly recommended.

Not really a true Cambodian restaurant. We tried Penang Curry which has a good flavor. Pad Thai and Yellow curry is just average. I will recommend for good pricing.

Nice little find in downtown south bend. Environs were plain, but food comparable to what I find on west coast. The spring rolls were good sized. Coconut soup tasty. Plenty of options. good change from the usual lunch fair.

Do I consider myself an expert on Pad Thai? No, I do not. However, other people have referred to me as such. I do not embrace this title. I did not ask for it. But nonetheless it has been bestowed upon me. I walked into Cambodian Thai last Friday with the expectation that my tastebuds would exit its doors more satisfied then when they came in. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai with a 4 spice. Nothing too hot, but nothing lacking of flavor. I expected the usual experience. Rice noodles, covered in the traditional peanut sauce, a hint of spice, a pile of crushed up peanuts on the side, bean sprouts on top, and maybe so tofu and green onion mixed throughout. If the inclusion of those ingredients is enough to satisfy you, then Cambodian Thai's take on pad thai was spectacular. All of of the ingredients were there. But as is the case with an orchestra. It is not enough to merely have the brass, the woodwinds, the percussion, and the strings. You must have a conductor who knows how to bring those elements together. In Cambodian Thai's place, they were missing that very conductor who they refer to as the chef. The pad thai came out from the kitchen and immediately upon viewing it I was alarmed. Under the bed of noodles and bean sprouts was a pool of brown sauce — something I had never seen with pad thai. I remained optimistic, Cambodian Thai is a respectable establishment, so I thought, and maybe they had their own unique, equally delicious take on the timeless tradition. I could not have been more wrong. The noodles were thin and had no texture, the bean sprouts seemed unwashed and straight from the package, and the pool of sauce constantly inserted a flavor in my mouth that caused my face to contort into a grimace. I will not be returning to Cambodian Thai anytime soon and I advise during your visit to South Bend's beautiful downtown, you do the same.

Went to this resturant at least three times before I decided I was done. Nothing I had ever had much flavor.
