My husband and I met here in June 2013. It has a special place in our heart because of that and also because of the excellent, reasonably priced food. My husband had the 14 oz prime rib on special with fried potatoes for $22.95. I had the Margherita chicken (It had a third word in the name of the beginning, but I forget what it was) for $16.95. First of all, you can’t go to a place like O’Charleys for those prices nor could you get nearly as much food as we got here. Secondly, the quality was excellent. This place never disappoints. My dish was serve in a large bed of risotto, very cheesy with loads of fresh mozzarella, with a little of sweetness from the balsamic vinegarette. I had an Italian old-fashioned to drink, which is more of a cherry take on the traditional old fashioned. Beautiful Tuscan ambiance. Always a favorite and a must go-to if I’m in Richmond.

Wife and I ate dinner here this weekend upon seeing it was rated number one on here. When we checked into our hotel, we call for reservations but was told they only do reservations for parties of 8 or more. We were immediately seated upon arriving later in the evening. Paul B was our server and he was very polite and attentive. We did not feel rushed and took our time with our courses to enjoy the atmosphere and time. He kept our drinks refilled promptly. We were full from our dinner so we opted to take our desert to go and he brought our cheesecake in a to go bag along with plastic ware to use at the hotel. We will definitely eat here again when in the area.

We really appreciated finding this place when we were told by a nearby chain restaurant in town that they didn't have the staff to serve us. Food was great! I had chicken marsala and was very impressed. Our waiter was excellent as well, handling us and other tables without issue. Prices were reasonable. Atmosphere was interesting with the open floor plan and a view into most of the kitchen, but the noise levels were not loud.

It's totally my fault for ordering a whole wheat pizza. I called for take away, and the young man was like, "do we even have whole wheat pizza?" It turns out that unlike what I'd imagined, whole wheat pizza dough is not pillowy and soft and chewy at all like regular dough; it is dense and intense and gives your jaws a real workout. The toppings were great, and the Make your own pizza with chicken/red onions/banana peppers was superb, and Sebastian was super nice when we picked up our food. I wish we could have tried some of the mains.

Staying in Richmond overnight on a longer trip and found this online. Waitress Sierra was cheerful helpful and efficient. My husband and I had the chopped and caesar salads, seafood diavalo, and veal parmesan. The bread and oil dipping sauce was wonderful and all the food was delicious. Generous entree servings on top of irresistible bread meant plenty to take home for another meal. Nice atmosphere. Would certainly return when we are in town again. Arrived an hour before closing on a Tuesday nite so service was quick but not rushed, and we were out in less than an hour, but could have spent longer if we wished

We stopped in here for dinner based on the TA reviews. Our home town has outstanding Italian restaurants and Gaio's couldn't hold a candle to them. The food here is essentially tasteless & not representative of a good Italian meal. I ordered the wedge salad which came drenched in dressing with little blue cheese or nuts. There was also a small helping of parmesan which doesn't normally accompany a wedge salad. Likewise the scallop entree brought small scallops about half the size found at a good Italian place. The underlying mushroom risotto was virtually tasteless. Service was mediocre at best - not at all like a reputable Italian restaurant!

We were going though town on our way out west. Found this restaurant rated number one in the city and thought we would have a wonderful experience. Summer salad was perfect. Meatball appetizer was fantastic. But the Scallops with risotto was bland and the scallops tasted frozen and overcooked. Not well mixed with pockets of capers in some bites and none in others. Server Deja was very sweet and helpful. However when she asked us how our meal was we told her about our disappointment with the scallop dish. She reported it to the manager who sent her back to our table to say that he couldn’t do anything about it because it was too late. We ordered carrot cake which also tasted wonderful but reiterated that we would like to talk to the manager about the dish that fell flat. Our server returned and told us that the manager had approved a discount of the meal of about 10%. If you go to this restaurant, steer clear of the risotto dish and good luck being able to talk to a manager if you have a problem. Very Unprofessional to make a server the middle person when the quality of the food was not her fault. Now we have upset stomachs and heartburn to start our trip.

This very classy restaurant is friendly, welcoming and top notch. It has an interesting layout because you enter and you see the whole circular place right in front of you. Service was great, we had the salmon Caesar and capellini bouglanese. Very very good. The warm cheese bread starter with a very peppery dipping olive oil is different and tasty. Good portions and a nice inexpensive wine list, too.

Stopped in here for dinner with my boyfriend and 10-year-old. Meal was going well until my son felt sick. He started gagging at the table and did everything he could to keep from throwing up in the dining room. Some tables were watching him. My boyfriend began leading him to the bathroom and he tried his hardest to keep everything in while maneuvering around servers and tables. He almost made it- but couldn’t contain himself just before reaching the men’s bathroom door. He continued inside to a stall while my boyfriend alerted the nearest staff member so the hallway could be addressed. My boyfriend then joined my son in the restroom while I promptly requested the bill so that we could go straight to the car. A couple minutes later, a woman (presumably the manager or owner) walked into the hall and starts complaining about how someone threw up, left, and didn’t alert anyone. My boyfriend popped his head out of the men’s room to alert her that they were still there and staff had been alerted. Rather than show any ounce of empathy for my son, she proceeded to complain that SHE should have been notified. Assuming we even knew her role there, she was quite rudely ignoring the fact that staff was indeed immediately notified. She then proceeded to rudely question whether the bathroom also needed to be cleaned. Her attitude was atrocious. Was it unfortunate that my son got suddenly sick after eating there? Yes. But he showed no signs of illness beforehand, and the lack of empathy and negative attitude about what was already an unfortunate and uncomfortable situation for my son was offensive. We left a good tip for the waitress who did a good job, but thanks to this individual’s insensitivity and rudeness, we will not return. Kids get sick. It wasn’t like he made a mess on purpose. Making him feel worse about it instead of dealing with the fact that staff weren’t handling the issue even after alerted was the wrong choice. Learn some empathy.

We loved the food an it worked well with their varied menu to satisfy each desire. There is plenty of parking and the staff was accommodating and the food was delicious. I left my jacket by mistake and they locked it up for me until I could return and pick it up. This says a lot for the establishment as well as the people that frequent this restaurant.

The food and the service were excellent. I ordered the salmon salad and the salmon was cooked to perfection. It was moist and flavorful with just a slight crust on the outside. I sat at the bar and Paul waited on me. He was very attentive. Overall it was an excellent experience for a very reasonable price.

We ate here for dinner while staying in New Paris Ohio. This restaurant is huge inside & very tastefully decorated. Our waitress Megan, was very attentive & friendly with a smile on her face all the time. I had the Bolognese & my husband had the Chicken Parmigiana. Both were very good with a lot of sauce & flavor. We had the Peanut Butter Pie for dessert. It was like a PB mousse, piled high with whipped cream & drizzled with chocolate syrup! Very good. We would definitely patronize this restaurant if we lived close!

See review. The food was tasty but definitely not coordinated. We felt rushed to eat the meal while it was relatively hot but were upset that we didn't get to finish our salads first. My husband's pizza was good but the pepperoni was excessively greasy. I had marinara on linguini. Good flavor. Would have liked it hotter (temperature wise) .

We live about 55 minutes away and since it was my birthday I decided to venture a different direction and we ended up in Richmond at Galos. So glad we did! The food was fresh, very flavorful. Had the fried cheese as an anti-pasta. Great fresh mozzarella. Main dish, mushroom ravioli w/ cassa side salad. Loved it. My wife had chicken dish with green beans and red potatoes. Huge portions. We could have both had a meal of one dish. Prices were very reasonable. Waiter was knowledgeable about the dishes. Great Italian atmosphere. Plan to come back. May end up being our go-to Italian.

A couple of years since the last visit. Nothing has changed much. Parking lot was packed so you know it is good and it was. Wine is a great value here as is most entrees. Had the decadent peanut butter pie to finish. Good service. They do not take reservations for parties under 6, but our wait on a Saturday night was very short.
