Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We'd explored the coastline around Whangarei which is beautiful and were ready for something to eat. Our B&B owner at Lupton Lodge had recommended this place and he was absolutely right! Fish of the day was snapper which was freshly fried in light batter and...More

Friday night fish and chips take away has never been so good. Fresh snapper was the best I have had and only $20 for two pieces and chips was great value considering the restaurants in the area are charging over $30 for one piece.

this was actually the only store open in Ngunguru and they had quite a good range of food offered on the menu. Also some drinks. For anyone who likes a typical fish and chip shop this is it! Might make sense calling before and then...More

Crinkle cut chips are some of the best I've had, a good quantity for the price too. Fish is expensive, but that's to be expected since it is sourced locally. A very popular place, so do phone order if you dislike waiting.

Friday night and the place was busy, our wait was no longer than expected. Tasted good but the snapper was rather small for the price.

They offer battered and fried fish, scallops, calamari, sausage, hot dogs and several other meats. The breading was crispy, but overall just too greasy - right from the fryer to the bag. The white fish was ok, but the scallops were slimy and the sausage...More

We had a fairly disappointing meal from here. The hot chips were average, the hot dogs not particularly hot, but the fish was the biggest issue - frozen triangular crumbed fish cakes with little flavour. Rather sad for a takeaway in such a great location...More

Waited over an hour for a simple order of fish and chips after being told the wait would be half an hour. The fish was nice but the kumara chips were soggy and inedible.
