Sad memories of the previous management here from a visit a couple of years ago. Was pleasantly surprised last friday to see smiling faces behind the counter and imroved interior. They are open and ready to serve great tucker and the best coffee long after the visitor centre stops serving.
If you are on the run, ring ahead and have your order waiting when you arrive.

I meant to take a photo of this typical Tassie bush store attached to the petrol station when i left the area but i forgot. There are a limited but handy stock of grocery items where i was able to buy breakfast because the National Park Hotel doesn't offer breakfast. At lunchtime there is a range of snack items for sale and there is petrol which is handy because Maydena General Store was closed.

This cafe has a lovely setting down by the river. We were even asked how we wanted our cafe lattes, week, medium or strong. Now that is unusual! Food was good and served promptly with a smile. Nice local crafts on sale too.

We stopped here for lunch on our way from the national park. What lovely people!!! Yummy fish and chips and salad rolls and sandwich. Nice room to fit and eat with interesting info about the region on display. Definitely recommend!!

Randomly walked into this roadhouse and asked if they had breakfast available. The lovely owner of the business said yes she does eggs. Bacon? Yes? Coffee? Yes. Breakfast came out and it was perfect. Even wholemeal bread with marmalade. Best breakfast near the Mount Field National Park so far. Don't be put off by how the place looks!

Passing through Westerway and stopped for a coffee. The roadhouse was a pleasant venue and the service was fine. It has a TV, newspapers and pleasant seating. There was some interesting petrified items plus large crystal or polished rocks in the room. Toilet was OK. Worth a stop if you have kids and want a value for money snack.
