We eat here recently as a party of 16, made up of 10 adults and 6 children. The restaurant very kindly put us in a private section of the restaurant which meant we were not disturbing other guests. This is not the first time we have been to Laragh Lodge and everyone we come we find all the staff very friendly and welcoming! The food was beautiful, lots of choice on the menu and everyone was very happy with the meal, including starters, mains, desserts and the children’s meals. When the bill came we were also pleasantly surprised at the value for money! You also can’t beat the scenery around Laragh Lodge, it is a very short walk to the lower waterfall and a 10/15 minute walk to the main waterfall, makes it ideal to go for a walk followed by a meal at Laragh Lodge. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, thank you!

Beautiful situation for this lovely restaurant. Very clean, nice decor, plenty of seating inside and out.
Staff we encountered were very welcoming, friendly. Good service.
A nice choice on the menu. We had starters and a main which were fantastic. Freshly cooked to order, fresh crisp salad, huge portions - neither of us could finish it all.
We were very happy with our meal and would definitely return and recommend to others.
The short walk to see the waterfall is an added bonus - stunning location.

We hadn’t been here for some years so it was nice to go back. The food was very nice and the staff quick to take our order and the food came in a reasonable time to show it is freshly made. It tasted nice too. The place was busy and a bit loud (had to try hard to avoid hearing about the hormonal health of a group of persons from across the Atlantic) but that is a sign it has many customers.

Came here with my family as we do every year to walk the falls and get a pint of Guinness from Laragh lodge as we always do. It’s a highlight of our year. As we were travelling with our young kids we packed a very modest picnic and flask of hot chocolate for them. In years past we’ve sat in the covered over area to the front of the restaurant as we had our dog with us. This has never been a problem in previous years, and last year the owner himself actually followed me out with the kids drinks to help me.
We arrived there today and approached the covered over area where the owner himself was sitting down having a smoke, he ignorantly remarked “no picnics, this is the designated smoking area”, taken aback I surveyed the area and did indeed see a notice on the wall regarding the smoking, but nothing about no picnics. And replied “oh you have a sign up I see that, funny how you provide a sheltered area for smokers but not families”. He didn’t respond. We hadn’t yet even orders our drinks as we wanted to sit the children down first while my husband ordered the drinks.
I doubt us sitting down had anything to do with it being a designated smoking area but more that the assumption was made incorrectly that we hadn’t intended to buy anything. We always do as we know the toilets are for customer use only and we always like the option to be able to use the toilets if needs be, we didn’t today however In some previous years there had been a 50p charge at the door. I can understand this for non customers, but at the rate this place is going they will have no customers. Would be put off ever going back. Refuse to use the forest park entrance as £5 parking per car is ridiculous for a walk that’s takes 1 hour. Would rather spend that £5 towards our pints at laragh lodge. So thanks for the crap core memory, doubt we’ll be back next year.

Unfortunately food took over an hour to arrive, when it did it the sea bass, mash and runner beans were luke warm. The ceasar salad consisted of wilted brown lettuce, croutons and chicken, not impressed at all and will not return. The Manager was quite indifferent to our complaints, just did not seem to care. AVOID!!!!!! AT ALL COSTS.

I visited The laragh Lodge with my wife and granddaughter on 25 July this year
The restaurant sits in beautiful location and the decor is adequate but not special.
We ordered 2 coffees; spicy chicken with a small salad; a chicken sandwich and fish fingers with chips and beans for our grand daughter.
The coffees came almost immediately (despite having asked that they be served with the food) and they were decent quality. The food arrived 25 minutes later: the spicy chicken was barely edible and the small salad comprised of one tiny lettuce leaf: the fish fingers were over cooked to the extent they could have broken the strongest teeth: the sandwich was fine except it arrived in a paper and plastic package as you would find in a filling station forecourt with so much as a parsley sprig as a garnish. Because the food came so long after the food ; I asked for top ups. The waitress came 2 fresh coffees and I thanked her explaining we only want a top up because of the delay with the food. She waved away my explanation saying we were welcome: it was only after checking the bill that I discovered we were charged for 2 additional coffees.
I would certainly recommend the scenery but not the food or the service

I was hiking over the carnlough mountains and somehow ended up in glenariffe (took a wrong turn). To my surprise, I came across the Laragh lodge and I am delighted that I did!!!
When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who was dressed comfortably in casual attire, socks and sandals which made me feel instantly relaxed and invited as I felt at home in the tranquil atmosphere.
I was served by a male named Michael and a female staff member Aideen. These individuals went above and beyond with their service and nothing was too much hassle as I had many requests.
I had chicken skewers as my main and it was fantastic with the noodles. I was going to get a sweet as they had pavlova however I asked Michael if there was eggs in the pavlova and he was unsure and asked the chefs - I am aware there are eggs in pavlova but I appreciated Michael confirming this.
The only downside was the fact the young boy behind the bar looked confused throughout the duration of my time in the restaurant and a young waitress with glasses did not smile.
Overall it was a good experience, the restaurant was busy and standards were high. Never have I been so glad to get lost with no phone service!!!! :)

Went to Glenarrif forest Park to walk the red arrowed waterfall route, which is lovely, and about 2/3 around walk, myself, wife and small dog, reached Laragh Lodge. Could not believe that such a facility would be found on our route. We went up to check menu on door, and as we had our wee dog, it was 7pm and had to get back to our car in forest Park before it clossed gates at 9pm, we planned to sit outside and have just starters. With a minute of going in to order, my wife came out to say we can bring our dog inside. Fantastic, and do unusual in any such place in North of Ireland (other restaurants, take note). We were greeted by a very pleasant and friendly man, who I assume is the owner/manager. He couldn't have been more helpful, even offered to drive us back to forest Park car park in case we would be late. He offered this very generous offer both on entry and on leaving Laragh Lodge. We were extremely grateful for offer, but could not impose in that way, and we ended up with plenty of time to walk back to forest car park after meal. Rather than starters, we both decided to go for main meals. The same man, owner/manager, without being asked, brought a dog bowl of water to our table, another little gesture that shows his warmth and desire to make customers feel welcome. I had the Gammon steak meal and my Wife had the Chicken Ceaser salad and chips. Food was cooked to perfection and very generous portions. If time had allowed, we would have loved to try one of the lovely desserts that staff were seen by us, carrying to other tables. All in all, a remarkable experience, excellent food, excellent service from all staff, beautiful building and inside decor. Will definitely use this location as a new go to place. Have already planned to meet other family members there in a few . We'll worth a 2 hr drive to get to. Again a big thank you to gentleman that greeted and served us. After paying for our meal, I think I heard the next paying customer reference the man as 'Gary'. If I am correct, a big thank You Gary for top class service. If not Gary, well, I hope You know who I am talking about. One of Ireland's must visit restaurants. 10/10

Extremely rude and dismissive staff. We as a family of 4 purposely parked at this restaurant instead of the main car park because after we had been for our trek around the waterfalls we had every intention of having lunch at this restaurant. Before we set off for our walk myself and my young son needed the bathroom. As soon as i stepped foot in the door i was stopped by an extremely rude older man waving his hand dismissively at me as he was on the phone. I turned myself and my son around and out the door. I suffer from a condition that I cannot wait. This restaurant needs to re-evaluate it's staff members and how they treat their would be customers. And from looking at the reviews we seem to not be the only family to have been treated in this manner.

The location is stunning but the lodge itself might benefit from a little facelift. The staff were friendly and initially very responsive but this got a bit slower during our meal with me having to flag down a waiter to get our desert ordered.
I started with the hen's egg salad. It was nice but would have been even better if the egg was hot with a soft yoke. I had the scampi for main, which unfortunately was only a special. It was delicious. The batter was lovely and it's so nice to get proper garden peas instead of those grey/green tinned ones most places use. Please add this to your menu full time.
Perhaps a little expensive. We paid ÂŁ55 for 1 drink each for me and my wife, 2 courses each and one kids meal for lunch. Overall was a good experience and will go again.

We called in here on last bank holiday Monday in August for our lunch. We had been to glenariff forest for a Walk and decided to dine here. My husband ordered roast dinner which was fine I wasn't feeling that hungry so I ordered starter of crispy chilli chicken with chunky chips. When food arrived my crispy chilli chicken was luke warm so after some time trying to gain waitress attention I explained to her that it wasn't that hot so she returned it to the kitchen. When it was returned it was hard and uneatable. She offered to get another of the same but that is how comes. No apologies offered grumpy owner never mentioned meal just charged full price when we went to pay. Avoid. Beautiful surroundings pity they don't have a better menu better chef and more polite staff.

Arrived in at laragh lodge with the family for lunch and a walk with the family our youngest was sleeping in the car while I was trying to wake him up my 10 year old daughter needed to use the toilet so my wife went in with her they were both stopped at the door by a very ignorant staff member that told my wife that they cant use the toilet until they place an order at the bar. My wife explained that our intentions are to order lunch and we have just arrived and our youngest is sleeping and I was trying to wake him up then I would join them both the woman said ok well I will take your order now and my wife had said to her that we haven't seen a menu yet and can my daughter not use the toilet till I had come in ! The member of staff said no!!! You need to order first or we would have to leave so my wife and daughter left the premises while they were going the lady told them to use the toilet at the forest park instead absolutely ridiculous my wife was made to feel like we were laying about ordering food. I will never step foot in that place again they lost out on business that day and any future business. We went to the forest park up the road and they had a lovely wee cafe there so went there instead and give them our money.

The service was terrible it took 30 minutes before our order was taken and it wasn't even busy, the staff had no training and were chaotic and lacsidaciscal, not to mention not wearing masks. The acoustics were awful, it was so echoey you couldn't hear the person next to you. The toilets were broken during our visit so we couldn't use the bathrooms. The food was as much of a travesty. The egg salad starter we ordered was tiny, a couple leaves and a crumb of potato bread, the mains were ridiculously overpriced for the cheapest tasting burger I've ever eaten. They ran out of kids burgers and charged us for an adult sized. When we tried to gain the staffs attention they ignored us and served other tables who arrived after us, when we tried to discuss with the staff at at the end they had no interest in hearing it. A complete farce, don't waste your money.

Laragh Lodge was built in 1890 and served as a tea house for tourists visiting waterfalls of Glenariffe in Antrim, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The building has large windows so that one can enjoy the scenery while dining. Dishes are cooked to order from local farms and the surrounding waters. You can get vegetarian and gluten-free food here. We stopped for the home-made scones with fresh creamery butter, strawberry preserves, and a “cuppa.” It should not be a total loss; we stopped for more scones to go upon our return from viewing the falls.

We both ordered the small chowder for lunch and shared some chips. There was plenty, it was very rich so I'm not sure you could manage a large portion. Lots of fish in it.
The kids goujon meal only had 2 goujons which I thought was a bit stingy for the price. However, they were good quality.
A bit overpriced, but it's a tourist spot. Lovely setting, nice food and very good service.
