Vegetarian dishes - and good ones - what a pleasure

You need to book for supper - very popular. Lovely food. Had hot smoked goats cheese with toasted bread and salad, followed by roasted vegetables on a gorgeous home made potato cake like a rösti, smothered in cheese. For dessert date cakes in caramel with ice cream. It was lovely

Fabulous food with great service.

It is lovely to find a restaurant like this in a holiday resort. The owners are obviously passionate about their business and want you to feel welcome. I had the spicy fish soup followed by the lamb and it was divine. I wish I had saved room for a desert but I was too full! Go there, you won't be disappointed.

Evening out Valle Gran Rey

Only in La Gomera for a night , with friends, staying in Valle Gran Rey. Using TripAdvisor looking for somewhere nice to eat. It was a Sunday night , so we walked to this restaurant. It is by the port with lovely views from the restaurant. We arrived before 8 pm and liked the appearance of the place. The owners are a couple from 🇩🇪 Germany. We opted to have main courses 2 x lamb , 1 x Tagliatelle, 1 a vegan dish nuts and gofio, etc. House wine for the ladies , which was very nice, and a couple of beers. Prior to main arriving, a complimentary hors doeuvre, which was very tasty. All the main courses were very good. A small dessert to share to finish. The ambience of the restaurant sitting outside overlooking the port and landscape was breathtaking. The couple who own the place are clearly passionate about the food and service they provide. Depending on where you're staying, Valle Gran Rey, maybe a bit of a walk, but worth it. I would recommend you call and make a reservation.

We dined at several restaurants during our stay in La Gomera, and this one didn’t particularly stand out for its food . Instead it was characterized by lack of courtesy of the staff. In summary: normal food, plus minus drinkable wine, awful staff and bill too expensive (above all to be tolerated).

Very good food and service

Been here 3 times on this holiday as it's our favourite restaurant in Valle Gran Rey, thanks to reviews on TripAdvisor and Google. The food and service is very good and the view is lovely too.

Superb food and relaxed dining.

Day trip to Valle Gran Ray which is a rather disappointing destination. However, we decided to stay for dinner and chose this restaurant after looking at Trip advisor reviews. We arrived 7pm. Very relaxed dining - don’t go there if you’re in a hurry - and superb food. We had spicy fish soup and goats cheese starters filled by four different main courses. All were excellent, cooked and seasoned beautifully. Faultless. One of our group had room for a layered coffee - which we all shared! This restaurant is the highlight of VGR and definitely a reason to return. Very good value as well. We left just after 10pm. A great evening - thank you!

Small restaurant by the beach by German management. Daytime more of a café /bar, evening dinner. We had excellent pasta! Very good rose wine!

Here for a second night 🌃

This will be the second night that we will eat here After a wonderful steak here and friendly service. The meal last night made us want to make a return visit. The location over looking the harbour below massive cliffs is a sight to be seen.

Great night

Had a wonderful dinner, sitting outside, watching people go by. The food was spot on DELICIOUS! The service was quick and friendly. Loved the lamb... If we ever retunr to Valle Gran Rey..we will return to Esperanto.

"I don't like computers to be on the tables"

My boyfriend and I sat at Esperanto with the intention of drinking a tea in front of the ocean, chilling and I also thought that I could, just like in any other cafe and restaurant, connect to their wi-fi and work on my university paper with my laptop. The german waitress who I guess was also the owner and who had been very friendly to her german customers, approached me rudely and told me that she doesn't like laptops on her tables. I was NOT kindly asked to take my laptop off the table and no explanations nor apologies followed her rude statement. Finally I left and I was left wondering whether she would have allowed her other customers, who spend much more than I did with my tea, use a laptop or not. I guess that you're not that welcome if you don't speak german and you're not a wealthy customer.

A well balanced taste

We ordered the vegetarian curry and flammcuchen. Both had a surprising yet balanced taste. The waitress was also nice. Only downside is that working with a laptop is not allowed. But I would come here again regardless.

We had great expectations, but despite a very nice hostess the food itself was in fact below average. My wife had fishplate - most of it dry tuna and some mussels. Myself, I had rabbit that was ok - but could not eat all because it was far too salty. We saw that Esperanto had a good score on Trip - do not understand why, however. Not our lucky day, I guess. Got a free Jäger though.

Just Lovely !

Late afternoon lunch - we were led by the reviews however when we looked at the menus we were a little concerned. A gorgeous tagliatelle with chicken dish and a grilled goats cheese dish later - we were converted. Lovely wine , ice cold beer and an outlook over the beach and harbour - just the thing ! Thanks

In a class of its own

Valle Gran Rey on the Canary Island of La Gomera is not a gastronomic destination. ..with the exception of two outstanding establishments...one at each end of the strip that stretches from La Playa at one end and Vueltas at the other. Esperanto opposite the port and family beach could qualify for a Michelin star. The ambiance is warm and welcoming the service is impeccable and the food is totally delicious and assembled individually with extraordinary creative flair. It is advisible to book in advance because unsurprisingly Esperanto is very popular. And as a bonus by international standards the prices for such high quality are very reasonable.
