Our Favorite on La Gomera

We did not eat here during our first couple stays in Gran Rey. BIG mistake. It’s now our favorite restaurant on the island. Tantalizing variety of dishes, all excellent. Generous portions. Sincerely caring, appreciative service. Calm atmosphere. Specifically, the best lamb dinner we’ve ever had. And the Thai green curry is superb. Don’t dine here if you’re in a rush. Carefully prepared cuisine takes time.

Very good food, nicest staff ever

During our stay, we always ended up coming back to TuYo, as the food was great and we were always treated exceptionally well. I always felt like I had enough variations when eating there and there are even well chosen vegetarian options, which is quite rare on the island. The cook is very creative and will even surprise you with a special creation if you ask for it!! I will definitely return to TuYo if I ever revisit La Gomera in the future, it’s the best restaurant I visited during my stay!

Best dinner on the island

La Gomera is a hiker's paradise but has not much to offer foodies when you are a bit tired of the fine fresh fish. Tuyo is an exception offering well spiced and generally delicious meals. We especially recommend the grilled tuna but also the salmon and the Korean BBQ dish were excellent. Very nice and efficient staff. Fancy colourful atmosphere.

A little disappointing....

Interesting dishes with a Caribbean-Asian touch. Perfectly fried, juicy and tender tuna and mango salsa. Unfortunately, the plates were so big that the food spread out on them cooled down very quickly outside. Excellent crème brulée and Greek yogurt with nuts for dessert. In the evening, no lighting at the few tables outside. You eat in the dark after sunset, in the weak glow of a street lamp, if I remember correctly. The glass of 0.2 rosé wine was listed as 11.00 euros on the bill, although the menu said 3.50 euros. After a friendly reminder, the error on the bill was immediately corrected without any problems. Despite a generous tip after the mishap, we were not allowed to leave. Así es la vida...

Lieber Arnulf, verstehen noch immer nicht, warum Sie uns nur 3 Punkte gaben, wenn Ihr "Fazit: viel besser kann es beim Essen nicht mehr werden". Die Sub-Bepunktungen zeigen alle 4 obwohl doch zumindesr das Essen anhand der Logik, dass, wenn besser nicht mehr geht, niemand von Ihnen 5 Punkte bekommen würde? Und nur, weil wir in den letzten Tagen vor Saisonende und vor 6 monatiger Sommerpause nicht mehr alle Flaschen im Schrank haben? Hätten wir (das Management) dies geahnt, hätten wir eine Flasche Sekt aus dem nicht weit entfernten Gourmetgeschäft Gusto für Sie (und uns) geholt. Denn das Publikum liest leider nicht Ihre sehr ausführliche und gute Beschreibung, sondern blickt nur auf die drei Punkte: "Mittelmässig!", ebenso wie der Algorithmus dieser Internetseite, der die Empfehlungen sortiert und diese Punkte zum Qualitätsindex aus allen zudammen runded ... Vielen herlichen Dank aber speziell von der Küchencrew für Ihr Lob für unser Essen, und wir würden uns freuen, Sie einmal wieder begrüssen zu dürfen, nach der Saisonpause, wenn die Weinkühlschränke wieder voll sind. Unfortunately, quality and service have declined significantly

We have enjoyed coming to Tuyo for many years, but today was really disappointing. There was no draft beer left, the starter plates were not cleared away, even though it was not very busy at 6:30 p.m. The main course was served even though the starter had not been cleared away, we had to lend a hand ourselves so that the waiter could serve the main course. Tuna Tataki was sold out, as were the desserts from the daily menu. Then we ordered medium-cooked tuna teriyaki, which came with a well-done thin "shoe sole" and the vegetables consisted mainly of onions. The creme Catalan was also poor, it had probably been sitting in the kitchen for days. We complained about it, and the reason given was that there was a new chef. Sorry, we are not guinea pigs. What was supposed to be a great last evening unfortunately turned into a really disappointing experience.

Fantastic restaurant

What a great venue, views from the terrace room, nicely decorated with a chilled out ambience. Staff amazing and the food was superb. I had a prawn green thai curry which was superb and my partner had the tuna main course. The tuna was cooked to perfection, just seared so keeping its flavour. We had the local goat cheese for starter which was also very good. Presentation of the food was very good. Will be going back tomorrow!

What a positive surprise “in a village at the ass end of the world!”

In a great ambience that may border on kitsch for some, but if you let yourself go into it is simply a "magical space", you can expect dishes that you have known for a long time, but are still "a little different". The "fusion" of Mediterranean, Canary Islands and Asia is more than successful. Everything seems to be freshly prepared to perfection (which can lead to a bit of a wait when the place is full) and is simply superbly seasoned! A real gem in Valle Gran Rey that stands out from the usual tourist gastronomy. ... PS: if you come early enough and get an outside or panoramic window seat, you can enjoy a great sunset while eating. Reservations are always recommended!!

A really interestingly decorated restaurant with fresh and tasty cuisine with worldwide inspiration. We love coming here. Not only can you choose the spiciness of each dish yourself, something we rarely agree on even within the family, but intolerances and aversions (not everyone likes coriander the same way, genetically determined) are also taken into account. The advantage of fresh cuisine. The disadvantage: sometimes it takes a little longer when there are lots of guests wanting to be pampered. Sometimes the service staff are a little too close to their limits, but they are always very friendly and attentive. Reservations are recommended.

Some people will probably find it a bit "hippie-kitschy", but the music in a restaurant determines what ends up on the plate and not the lampshade, right? We found the "hodgepodge" of antique Asian furniture and more modern art as well as the general "unique furniture" to be more than successful, which is really a difficult balancing act. Particularly in the play of light installations and with the slightly jazzy and yet somehow "meditative" music... but now to the really important thing: the food! And Tuyo looks far and wide in vain for "competition", if only because of the uniquely different type of offering. No shriveled potatoes or chicken schnitzel from the deep fryer. Here, something great is conjured up fresh for every guest. Much in the wok, others on the grill... According to the category, it is probably called Asian-Mediterranean fusion soul food kitchen, but we call it: delicious! The combinations of unusual flavors may seem surprising or even daunting on the menu, but once you try them, you'll be very, very happy. Like most people, we ate there on several days of our vacation in VGR and it was always great, and we met like-minded friends there, with whom we first sat at neighboring tables and later spent our farewell party together at the large table by the panoramic window with a sunset view :-D Thank you Tuyo... maybe see you next year.

Long wait for nothing

We are very disappointed. After waiting 1.5 hours for our food, the tuna was cooked "English" dry. The green curry was just spicy without any kick. The guests at the next table had a similarly bad experience with other dishes.

Maybe you were unlucky? The praised Tom Kha simply wasn't one: that's not possible, because simply cooking together thick coconut milk and flavorings (ginger/lemongrass etc.) - it's so fatty that it's simply not digestible, no matter how impressive it may seem at first. The vegetarian Tikka Massala was disappointingly bland, although it was a generous portion. And the udon noodles with bulgoggi - the strips of beef, with the real bulgoggi, melt in the mouth because of the marinade in Nashi pears or other fruits suitable for "cold cooking", unfortunately they were thick, solid lumps of meat. Overall, quite tasty, especially as a change from alla plancha cuisine, but the high praise that came before is not entirely understandable! The interior is very pretty!! The service is friendly!

Best Restaurant on the island

The food was extremely delicious... Just hit the right notes 🎶... It was one of the best meals I had on the Islay.. highly recommend,it's romantic setting and different from the regular "Joe's "restaurant. A must try when in the island .

Decent food but very poor service

Ate Gambias for starters. The taste was good, but the prawns were small. For the main course we ate yellow curry with chicken and Indochinese beef. It tasted just fine. The service was lousy. Won't be going there again

This is a lovely little restaurant serving a good selection of Asian dishes. Unfortunately our experience wasn't great. We had to wait over an hour from ordering to eating. My Chicken Green Thai Curry was flavoursome, as was my wife's Chicken Tikka Masala, however we both remarked that the chicken was tough. Maybe we were just unlucky.
