Restaurant which is called Yan Yan in Buffalo Grove was very clean. We arrived just before noon and our first indication that this wasn't going to be great was that there was only one other table seated. Huge dining room, one table of three. So...we were told to seat ourselves, which we did. Good menu selections and prompt service (well, we were the only other people in the restaurant). Good portions of food, but mostly was very bland. The fried rice was not good at all. No flavor. The table of three that were seated when we walked in were loud and seemed drunk and foul mouthed. That really ruined the atmosphere. Sorry Yan Yan. Ordered delivery during Co-Vid-19 we have gone through Libertyville Mundelein and Vernon hills seems consistent unlike so many others so much depends on the day and the phase of the moon. Nice portions tasted very nice our goto place now ThanksTom

Yen Yen used to be my favorite restaurant in the Arlington Heights area up until the past year. Recently we ordered take out for a family get together and were a bit disappointed. To start, we did not get one of our orders for sweet...and sour chicken so I immediately called the restaurant to get refunded. I was able to get a hold of the manager no problem and he did not hesitate to refund me, but was disappointed when he only wanted to write my name down for a credit for a future order and not immediately refund me over the phone. He said it was because they don't like to do refunds over the phone, but many of us thought his intention for the future credit was just another way to get us to come again in the future. In addition, I ordered the orange chicken that was listed as a "spicy" menu item but it had close to no spice at all. Things just don't seem to be tasting the way they used to. We have been a fan of Yen Yen for many years. They are an above average restuarant truly specializing in cantonese. Their quality is very good, but they truly need to expand their menu into other areas: Mongolian, Scezhwan, etc.

My wife and I have ordered from YenYen a couple times in the past and did enjoy it. It's been quite a while though. Last weekend we were shopping at Marshall's a few doors down and decided to stop in for lunch. We are so...glad we did. The food was top notch, so tasty. We were the only ones there until close to when we left. The service was very good & friendly, the food was awesome and the restaurant is pleasant. We got shrimp fried rice, shrimp mooshoo & shrimp cashew. I'd order all of those things again.More

We had dinner there today to celebrate the New Year, and everything was wonderful. Our server was diligent, the food was hot and the restaurant was very clean.

This review will be slanted because I had already eaten part of the supposedly gluten-free meal by the time I ran into the wheat noodles at the bottom. When I asked the waitress if my meal was, in fact, gluten-free she said she didn’t know...and would go check in the kitchen. They offered to remake my meal but I chose to stop eating. When this location was owned and run by John and JoAnne Moy, this was a bit further to drive on Mondays (when the Arlington Heights location is closed), but worth it - same food, same excellent service. Since they sold this location, the new owners...were supposed to have agreed to keep the same menu and recipes for 1 year, which they DID NOT. Nowhere near the same flavor or quality. Stick to the Arlington Heights location, at the southwest corner of Lake Cook Road & Arlington Heights Road, in Terramere Plaza. Great all around. Very clean, updated facility, very consistent, highest quality food, tasty food, very well trained staff. Everything perfect. My wife won't eat Chinese any where else, this spoiled her. She's right. Spring Rolls are great, garlic chicken Lo Mein is great. I'm sure...it all is. Big menu like many. Traditional type, but high quality. Even after many many years, always consistently good, always clean & updated, every every time. This applys to both locs (Rte 22, Arl Hts Rd & Lake Cook). Been going here for over 20 years. Very good Chinese food. Egg rolls are some of the best around. Owners have been doing this over 50 years they know there a Stuff.

A friend suggested Yen Yen in Buffalo Grove. we went and it was better than expected. From the soup to the main dishes, everything was outstanding. better than we expected. Place was very clean and waitstaff was attentive and excellent.
