The pork sliders were tasty and the roll was fresh. I was shocked they have rattlesnake and alligator hot dogs. Larry had the rattlesnake hot dog. He said it was very good. I haven't let him kiss my yet. LOL

Terrific food! Everything on the menu looks delicious. We had French Dips multiple times because they were the best ever (and we’re not French Dip lovers normally). The breakfast was also delicious with huge portions. If you drink, also try an espresso martini. Enjoy live music as well.

Best thing about living in Idaho City?
The Goldmine!
I crave these burgers. Order yours with cheese & bacon.
Finger steaks are delicious. The Mac and cheese is excellent, but because of "covid shortages 😒🤐" it's not always available.

There were a lot of cars there, so we expected a great find. The atmosphere and music was our kind of place. I thought we had found a new place to stop, but we were beyond disappointed. It took some time to get our drinks, but that was OK. There were multiple times the wrong food was brought to our table. After an hour of waiting for our food and seeing 8 other people get theirs and leave, we asked about it. They had no idea about our order. We left with no food and they still charged me for my drink. We had to ask multiple times for water and get our own napkins. We won't be back. It could've been a cool place.

Hi Jamie. It sounds like we totally blew it! I don't make excuses when we fail. However, I believe pointing out that we had just re-opened because of COVID-19. I found out that my new reality was that the government is paying my employees to stay home. Consequently, we were working with less than 1/2 of our staff. If you look at google we have mostly 5 star reviews in normal circumstances and even with short staffed.
It's stunning that with all that is happening in the world some folks still expect service to be at 100% It's simply not possible to provide our best service in these circumstances. It's early in August and we are STILL wildly short staffed. Thankfully, the vast majority of our amazing patrons understand that this plandemic has put a strain on small businesses. All we ask is that folks have patience and try to understand that we are not operating in a normal environment.
I apologize for the bad experience. I can assure you that it is not the norm and we will do better next time.

Very good food. Be careful of their happy hour prices. Be sure and ask exactly how much your drink is going to be. Lots of local flavor. The nachos were great, but the drinks turned out to be a lot more than we expected during happy hour.

We just pulled into Idaho City as we had reservations to stay in the motel. I had the Gold Mine burger without the bun with the beans, and my husband had the steak fingers with tots. Both were good and hot! Service was good just busy as there was only one lady working the restaurant. But it was good regardless! Stop in for a cool place, good food and friendly service!

This is a must if you are in the Idaho City area. Really good food and service. The back patio is a total blast in the summer and they have live music all the time. If you haven't been here recently you need to make the quick drive and check them out!

This place was so good. We ate both lunch and dinner at the restaurant during our stay. Food was phenomenal and the was nice and cold! Service was fantastic and everybody was extremely friendly. This will be the only place I eat on future visits to Idaho city.

We stayed at the Goldmine hotel, and ate at their restaurant. And enjoyed their live entertainment. Cannot recommend this establishment enough. Very clean rooms, EZ check in, easy communication, we will return. Thanks for a great stay

I tried the brisket French dip, which was really tasty. Tender brisket on a roll with good au jus, yum. Really good service from Charles, who was running the whole place. Good onion rings as well. One of our favorite restaurants in Idaho City.

We were disappointed to find Trudy's closed on this first trip back to Idaho City in ten years (their huckleberry pie is worth the trip), but what a treat to discover Gold Mine. I've had great BBQ across the south from some of the most famous places and I've got to tell you, the Pit Master Sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted anywhere. It is generously heaped with intensely smoked beef, pork and steak tips and topped with a delicious slaw, a fantastic homemade BBQ sauce and jalapenos on a substantial bun that doesn't dissolve or fall apart under the weight. I was in heaven and have to admit this was one of the best meals on our two-week vacation. I have a hard time finding much to like about Idaho these days but the Pit Master Sandwich at Gold Mine is at the top of my list and is well worth the visit. Thanks for an outstanding meal!

BLUF: The service was some of the worst I've experienced and the food was overcooked and frozen from-the-Walmart-freezer-section.
I had the cod - three tiny pieces that were overcooked and the fries were half the amount McDonalds gives you and severly under cooked - floppy, almost raw and definitely out of a frozen bag.
I've eaten at the Gold Mine many times over the years and this new ownership pales in comparison to what it used to be. The inside has improved but very little else from the waitress to the cook.
If you want overpriced, grocery freezer section food, the Gold Mine Grill is for you! I'll go across the street to Trudy's until the Gold Mine has another new set of owners. At least the food and service have always been excellent at Trudy's over the years.
The owners response was that all fries are 100% frozen (obviously 100% false) and that I shouldn't come back - no worries there, that's for sure! He said he supports VETS but as a retired active duty vet, I didn't feel much support.
Never met this new owner but he took it personally and thought I had an issue with him. I guess I do since he serves frozen food (not bad in itself but it's cooked POORLY) and has no issue charging a premium for poor service and even worse food.

Good food and great mountain town ambience. Stopped after a day hike for burgers and beer on our 24th anniversary. Great selection and the food is always delicious.

The service I read about in some of the reviews does not extend to the phone. I about got my head bit off for asking details about hours and entertainment on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. We have been there for several years in the past and SERVICE has never been their forte'.

Sorry for the poor phone etiquette problem. I believe the individual who was manning phones has been separated from the Gold Mine. My apologies. Give us another try and you'll be glad you did. If you follow us on facebook all of our happenings are "events" and should come up on your feed including New Years fun.
