First time to Idaho City. It turned out that there was a rodeo being held that day and it was walking distance from this restaurant. Being from Boston, I was wearing a Patriots cap when we sat down at the bar. The bartender took one look at my hat and said, “I hate the Patriots .” And I especially hate that cheater, Tom Brady. I knew we were going to have fun. He was a Seahawks fan so his hatred was understandable.
We had a couple of beers and saw there was an outdoor patio. We asked if we could get served out on the patio. The bartender said, “I don’t serve anyone outside.” So we went outside anyway. We ordered the food at the bar. My friend ordered a burger and I had a grilled ham and cheese. A nice lady brought our food out when it was ready. The food was very good. My friend went to put ketchup on his burger and the squeeze bottle of ketchup top came off and he drowned his burger in ketchup. I asked if he wanted some burger on his ketchup?
We played a few games of pool. I loved the wall and bar decorations. You have to see the bathrooms! We met some funny and interesting people in the restaurant and went to the rodeo. It was perfect.
This is a classic establishment set in a town that time forgot. When I go back to Boise next year we will take another ride to Diamond Lil’s.

I love a good hole in the wall greasy spoon restaurant for the most part, and I have eaten at many. This historic saloon was pretty cool but if you are at all picky about... where you eat... you probably would not care for it. The food was fine. We were starving so it would not have taken much to make us happy. We enjoyed the various artifacts and pictures on the walls.

Stopped in here to check out the decor and collectibles inside this bar /restaurant. We sat at the bar and had a drink. Fun little place with lots of items to see. Lots of information and examples of US currency through the ages.

After seeing Diamond Lil's on Trip Advisor, we had to stop. Stepping in was like stepping back in time. There are treasures to check out everywhere, a stage, a dancefloor, a pool table and a large money covered bar. You have to check out the bathrooms too. There's also a dining room, which I didn't check out, we were only here for a couple drinks before having to go back to Boise. I had a locally made huckleberry cider that was delicious. Sean, the barkeep (I think that was his name), was personable, I found myself wishing we could stay longer. Not only is the bartop covered with money, the ceiling in part of the bar is also covered with hanging money. Lil's is a super cute place and looks to be original to these here parts.

Had to stop and try a meal in the historic Diamond 💎 and we can tell you that they have polished it to perfection.
Ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with onion rings and an Arnold palmer to drink. Food was worth the money.
Had a good conversation with a couple of motorcyclist from Boise that just tour around to smaller towns looking for great food and a great ride. They also bragged on this place. Of course they were comminting on how cute Willow was, our Rabbit wire haired dachshund. While we bragged on their rides, an Indian with sidecar and a super nice Harley.
This is where friends come to meet friends.
Enjoy

Touring Idaho City, we couldn’t resist a drink at Diamond Lil’s. Walking in this bar/restaurant is like going back in time. The memorabilia and setting are a true time warp.
The place is clean, the beer cold and the people friendly! It is a must see attraction.

I had the best hamburger I've had in some time. Fries were good, too! Great atmosphere and check out the bathrooms. The building is really cool.

I went to Diamond Lil's Steakhouse & Saloon with my brother, John, one afternoon last July and we had a great time. The food was terrific and I got a discount on the Diamond Lil coffee mug. If you like excellent food and historical sites, come visit Diamond Lil's Steakhouse and Saloon. You will see actual photographs of Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and other famous historical figures who all congregated at Diamond Lil's in days of yore.

We paid $25 for a pitcher of beer and the greasy fries. We don't pay that for a micro brew in boise, Not a good value.

It was a fluke that we were the only ones in the restaurant, but it was the middle of the week and school had already started, so there was no problem being pampered by the owners. There were tons of old photos and newspapers to keep our attention as well as wonderful antique furnishings.

Disliked the smokers is the bar stinking up the restaurant while diners ate...yuck! Food was not that great either and the selection was pretty limited.

The building and inside is wonderful.
The old man bartender was slow, crabby and an all around turn off. He was such a hinderance that the waitress could barely do her job, which was apparently everything he didn't want to do.

We just happened on one of our best meals ever, and, according to my husband, the best tasting rib eye he has ever had. While driving on highway 21 enjoying the fall scenery, we decided to stop for an early dinner in Idaho City before heading back to Boise. We looked in Diamond Lil's and asked if we were too early for dinner since we saw no one seated and it was only 5pm. We were assured that we would be served. After looking around the interesting and historic bar/restaurant and enjoying our wine, we ordered the rib eye dinners. The deliciously tender and well seasoned steak came with a crisp salad, a starch of our choice (We each chose the baked Idaho potato), freshly prepared veggies, and slices of warm garlic bread. The price was definitely reasonable for the well prepared and well served meal. There is a special prime rib dinner on Saturday nights which we want to attend before the restaurant closes for the season around Nov. 3. Our friendly waiter told us it would reopen in February.

Great place to eat! I was there quite a while ago, in 1995, but the food was excellent, and they have the coolest dispaly of sawblade art on the walls I have ever seen!
