My fiancé and I were fortunate enough to stumble across this gem of a restaurant while staying in Port Stephens for a cheeky long weekend. A delightful surprise, located right over the water. We had the mixed oyster plate; beef fillet; Atlantic salmon and banoffee dessert. Beautifully prepared chef-quality meals with thoughtfully balanced flavours. Generous portions sizes to boot made it great value for money, especially considering the standard of our delicious meals. The service was friendly and efficient, and all round it made for a fabulous evening. We liked it so much we came back for a lovely brunch service before we flew back to Melbourne. Thanks!

Very professional staff delivering great quality food. Apart from the great location, our party of four were all amazed by the quality of the food and promptness of service. The dishes were creative emphasising the freshness of the local ingredients. A really good lunch experience.

Perfect setting on the water overlooking Port Stephens, run by a French chef Ludovic Poyer and his wife who personally visit every table and engage with customers about what i can only describe as their fine "art" of "foodery" and service. Much of the seafood is locally caught in the Bay to be transformed into the most incredible dishes. We were a group of 7 and I paid my share of approx $100 for entree, main, desert and wine. This restaurant in Sydney would have been 3x the cost in Sydney. Great value, superb experience - to be honest it's absolutely about the experience. I'll be back again and will make it a twice yearly visit. Thanks to the owners and staff - you can be proud of delivering the best.

The attentiveness of service was good, and I was prepared to overlook the black, 2cm long hairs on our napkins, however, we could not overlook the thick black hair protruding from the proscuitto wrapped chicken. The waitress returned from the kitchen, explaining it to be from a pastry brush and removed the item from our bill. The prosciutto wrapped chicken that we did eat was really dry but the gnocchi/peas/harissa and parmesan were yum. The mixed dozen oysters were delicious, although the shell grit in every few oysters was much less so. The banoffee and the creme brulee were a good end to the meal. The restaurant had a pleasant outlook, and was clean and fresh-looking.

Again we return, and yes we are still astounded. The very best the local area can offer, this time abalone, sea snails and mackerel, treated in the most glorious French style, and served looking out over the sparkling inlet and a whirling stingray display. I can also thoroughly recommend the kingfish octopus fettuccini, with capers and lemon. Every single dish is a reflection of Ludivig and Mandy’s simple mantra. Flavour fresh and local. They quietly emerge from the kitchen and tell you the names of the their providores. The oyster man, the abalone and snail guy, what fish is best. It’s a 5 ⭐️ restaurant, with 5 ⭐️ Staff service view food wine ..... We keep coming back, and every time we are surprised and rewarded. Hint. Always order the daily specials. They are the totally amazing local produce with a Francois Sophistication. Enjoy

Dined for lunch at this waterfront restaurant that offered a varied of high quality meals with true French flair. Pricing of mains under $40 for such high quality was pleasing. The well priced wine list comprises loads of wines from the Hunter valley and many from small specialty wineries. Seafood was very fresh and well prepared. Specials were very innovative. Staff are well trained, attentive and most of all pleasant

My husband, mum, dad and I all went for dinner on a Thursday night. For entree we had the oysters, kingfish and crab ravioli. All the entrees were tasty. For mains my husband and I had the special which was barramundi, it was not to our tastes and came with undercooked risotto. My mum had the steak which she enjoyed and my dad had the lamb with fettuccine which was, to be honest, horrible. The waitress did not check in with us when we had our meals. Dessert, the Banoffee was the highlight for me. Prices were at fine dining level and because of this I would be hesitant to return.

Had lunch, with four friends, at this lovely restaurant today. Beautiful location, wonderful food and exceptional service. Young, vibrant, well trained staff who did everything right and were smiling and pleasant as they took orders, explained specials and menu items and then served very professionally. First visit will certainly not be my last

Fabulous location right on the bay so sweeping views. Excellent service from friendly staff and a good menu for both food and drinks. The chef came out and asked patrons about their meals which was a nice touch. Food lovely and reasonable priced. Highly recommend.

We always come back for the location and the service. The location is just the salve you need for the bumps and scrapes of everyday life and the service is the gentle relief that comes from its application. But what keeps us coming back is the ever changing menu, both food and wine, that makes each visit a new adventure in what The Poyers has to offer. The carpaccio was sublime, the mackerel and sardines pefectly complimented with their accompaniments (the mushrooms with the mackerel were amazing) and the blue cheese gnocci rich and satisfying (we always love the gnocci... it is so soft and fresh you can chew it with your tongue). It has been a difficult time, with the challenges of the past few years, but we're glad that The Poyers has endured and we will always look forward to the next time we get the privilege of enjoying their location, service, wine and food again, and again, and again.

Our second visit to this fantastic place in lemon tree passage, this time we took a water taxi from Bannisters a great experience and 20 minutes rather than 40. The owners and staff are enthusiastic and friendly. The french chef is the real deal with a creative menu drawing on traditional French techniques. Well priced in a great waterfront location.

The Poyer's is our favourite restaurant in Port Stephens. Owners Mandy and Ludovic have managed to strike just the right balance of a relaxed feel with great service. At our last visit we had a table of 5 for lunch. The menu provided choices for those who were feeling a little adventurous and ordered the abalone, to those that had the sirloin steak. Everyone agreed there was much to like.

Absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. We tried the oysters, scallops, king fish and Sea Urchin for entrees. We tried the Jewfish, Lamb and Duck for Main. We tried all the desserts - all delicious. The specials were all delivered straight from the fisherman to the restaurant via their boat. You can't get fresher than that. Ludo (Exec Chef) and Mandy Poyer have put so much effort into this place and it was wonderful to meet them and see the passion for local produce and wine. This place is special and a must do. The best in Port Stephens region and I'm trying to remember a time recently that I've enjoyed a lunch as much as this one and I cannot recall.

Lovely spot for lunch. The restaurant is nicely laid out with a nice decor and a nice cool air flow throughout. The menu is a bit limited and personally the banoffee dessert was a bit of a miss but the fish and meat were lovely. The service is absolutely impeccable.. Each waitress was welcoming, attentive, and very friendly. I wish all restaurant and cafes in Australia would provide such excellent service all around.

Overall the food was disappointing as we expected more based on the reviews. There were four of us and we all had the same opinion even though we had different dishes. Three of us had zucchini flowers as a starter and they were very good. The scallops were good however overpriced as only 3 scallops with the parsnip purée. The gnocchi served with the main were disappointing as they had very little taste and smothered in sauce. Too much garlic and oil was used with the snapper and overpowered the dish. Also very noisy and could not even hear our waitress when trying to explain the specials.
