Brought home key west shrimp

This funky little outside restaurant is in front of the fish store. People were eating outside while we went in to buy some fresh fish. There was quite a variety of tuna, mahi mahi, grouper, and shrimp of many sizes. We chose two pounds of beautiful pink key west shrimp which were $20 per pound for 13-15 per pound fresh shrimp. So delicious....like little lobster tails. We will be back

Don’t miss out!

Absolutely wonderful! We ended up staying in Stuart on our way to Miami. This restaurant was walking distance from our Airbnb. The fresh shucked oysters were delicious and the seafood platter was incredibly fresh. The steamed red shrimp were the best shrimp I’ve ever eaten hands down. Service was excellent. I didn’t catch the server’s name but she was just wonderful. Going to try to get one more meal here before we go. It’s that good.

FRESH AND GREAT FISH AND SEAFOOD!

Basin Seafood is a seafood 'joint' there is nothing fancy about it, but their fish and seafood is fresh, the staff is friendly and accommodating and the prices are reasonable. Since it was Friday we had their Fish and Chips special, battered cod, fries and slaw. All of it was tasty and good sized portions. The two tables close to us had ordered the Crab special and we watched with awe as they ate their way thru many platters of really good sized crabs. We asked how it was and they said wonderful with a smile on their faces and butter dripping down their chins. There are a few non fish offerings on their menu but after tasting their fish why would you order anything but something from the sea? Shorts and flip flops are the dress code of the day. Will definitely go back now that we 'discovered this place!

I had a crusted fish sandwich on marbled rye bread with lettuce and some type of sauce which I never tasted until the very last bite of the sandwich.The fish was nicely crusted but it didn't fill up the bread. My companion had the blackened fish sandwich which he said was tasty. The blackened fish sandwich was on some type of roll. We also had a cup of chowder which on a scale of 1 to 10 was a 5. One glass of iced tea and a water. The bill totaled $56. WAY over priced. I had a fish sandwich at Wendy's a few weeks later and I enjoyed that sandwich much more.

Seafood market

We visited Port Salerno for a week and went to purchase fresh seafood at basins. We bought softshell crabs large Florida shrimp and Bay scallops all of which we ate that evening and it was all excellent. Staff was extremely friendly wish we were staying longer to partake in the all you can eat blue crab.

Horrible crabs

I was so disappointed 09/08/2024- we order the all you can eat crabs and we could only get one good crabs out of all the ones we ate. They were disgusting no meat and mushy at the same time. All the waiter could say is I am sorry, she saw that every crab that was open was rotten. and did not offered any solutions, but the manager is not around to refund you the money for the crabs. I should have followed the last review that was on their page about the crabs, I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but I should have went with the person review. Stay away, until they do better with the crabs and customer.

Awesome food in little hole in the wall

4 of us dined outdoors for lunch and shared coconut shrimp, grouper Reuben , Florida fish basket. The coconut shrimp were perfect- the shrimp and coconut shine and served with a dip of orange marmalade with a hint of Dijon. Fish basket had grouper and Mahi- delicately fried, served with excellent fries and slaw. The grouper Reuben was genius and so tasty! Don’t hesitate in this hole in the wall. Loved it!!

Fantastic Old Florida style eatery!

The atmosphere is Florida, it's funky in general. Very friendly staff, mostly locals go here if that says anything. I really liked it a lot. The oysters were properly seasoned, not soggy but slightly firm and loaded with flavor. The fish and chips are some of the best I've ever had, from the Keys to Boston, this rocked. We also ordered a burger and could not believe how great this was! Crispy fries. Great little place :)

This is a seafood restaurant and store and only one staff member was wearing a mask and neither wearing gloves. Will not go back!

A nice little spot for lunch.

A nice little spot for lunch. The service was a bit slow but not bad if you’re on island time. The food was good! We had a shrimp basket, oyster basket and shrimp and rice. All had very good flavor and were what you’d expect in the price range. Hey this isn’t fine dining here. The fellows next to us had sandwiches and all remarked that they enjoyed them. It’s very good food for a very casual lunch. Met the owners and their daughter and granddaughter (who was our waitress and got vocally favorable reviews from the guys with the sandwiches). Very nice and friendly folks who provide a very pleasant experience just off the beaten path. Give it a try.

Higher prices, less food

I have always known the service was not going to be the best or friendliest, but I was ok with it. I placed a to go order and was told the prices have gone up a bit. I said that was fine, thinking something I usually pay $13 for may go up 1 or 2 dollars. I only had $22 cash with me and thought that would be plenty. Well the $22 just covered the bill with change left over for the tip. I thought that was a big price increase , but I thought there must be more food in the combination platter. Opened the box and slowly enjoyed my 2 shrimp.

Finally returned to buy seafood

Thought about buying fish several years ago, but the “smell” of dead fish turned us away. It has been remodeled, the restaurant was made much bigger (seating inside now). When walking in, it smelled much better, (my wife is a chef, and manger) so we know about “smells” and how that effects the quality of food). We purchased a nice piece of raw tuna to take home. The tuna was great, sweet tasting as it should be! HOW EVER....we were VERY disappointed that the sales gal picked up the tuna (wrapped I’m paper) and flopped it on the stainless table without putting down paper, the cut the tuna without putting on gloves, picked up the tuna without gloves, and took it to the scale. Where she put paper down. Totally against health department guides. We paid with credit card, which she took. And then went back to work without washing her hands. What a big NO NO. Management... please change this!

Great. Food, unacceptable service

We were excited to try Basin Seafood for lunch on a Saturday midday. We sat outside and debated what to order. After a short wait, We ordered drinks and an appetizer. As we waited , at first for our drinks, then even longer for our appetizer, the place really started to fill up. There was only one server for the entire place, both inside and out I think. Consequently, we waited for what seemed to us be an inordinate amount of time for our food. The food was delicious when we eventually got it, but we were so annoyed and hungry by that time, it didn’t as much matter about the food. We do not blame the server (tho we did leave only a modest tip), whomever is Is in Charge there needs to be aware that the service and staffing level is unacceptable. Also, the kick ass shrimp were tasty, they were really tiny little shrimp and really not with $9. While the food was good, it is unlikely we would return, we had such a poor experience on our first visit.

Low key seafood

Music was playing as we sat outside. Table service was excellent and was a huge help in customizing our food (we split multiple meals). The fish sandwich was excellent.

Fresh fish!!! Friendly and casual. Inside or outside dining

The big mouth sandwich was great! Fresh Mahi on a roll, lettuce, tomato and a sauce; served with fries. We got it lightly blackened and it was perfectly done. The fish dip was really fresh and tasty, served with tomato, red onion, jalapeños and saltines. The seafood chowder was a little too dense for my taste but my friend loved it. This is a small fish market that added on some tables and chairs for dining. It is friendly and family owned for the last 35+ years. Tara, the daughter, gave excellent service and is very nice. Some notes. Water is $1 a bottle, beer and wine are served. We got some fish to go and they packed it on ice since we had errands to run. Although it is an old place off the side of the road, it does a 5 star job of feeding you.
