Walked by this restaurant many time and didn’t pay attention. It was quiet and unassuming. My daughter made reservations for five of us. I figured , What’s there to lose. We went early and sat far from the open kitchen , thank goodness. It was quiet and our server was great. Wine pours were generous and she was very attentive with good dinner suggestions. We had their special fried chicken breast which was moist and tender yet crispy. Sea bass was too big for my wife to finish. Now the duck was the best ever. Crispy skin and moist inside, not dry and stringy. The crab cake appetizer might be my meal next time. There were large chunks of crab and it wasn’t bread. You could actually taste the crab and a mild aioli dressing was perfect. It’s my new local favorite for our special nights out.

We were 6 for dinner. We Had all eaten there before and found the food to be good as well as the service. We came here before a show at the Lyric Theater. We were no disappointed. Portions were large, food was tasty and the servers were attentive, but not intrusive. The tables were crowded, but the noise level was manageable.

I am happy the Gafford separates the bar from the dining room. It cuts down on the noise which allows you to talk to those at your table. My pork chop was huge and was baked so that it had a maple flavor. It was garnished with sugar coated pecans. The mashed potatoes were a bit disappointing perhaps because they were warm but not hot when served. The asparagus was perfectly cooked. I would return another time and try a different dish. Gluten free items are marked. It is very convenient to the Lyric Theater if you are attending a concert there.

A fellow we met at the beach who goes by the fictitious title ("Mayor of Stuart Beach) and is a funny guy recommended The Gafford, so we thought what the heck we'll try it out. Our server Ryan was great! He said "my pleasure" instead of "you're welcome" or "no problem". My wife really liked that and asked him about it and he said "I work in a great place, I like seeing people have a good time, and it is my pleasure to make sure they do." Home-run in our minds. The food was amazing. I had the overnight spare rib served on a bed of sweet potato. I don't know how the chef gives the sweet potato that flavor, but it was like nothing I had ever tasted and the meat was melt in your mouth tender. My wife had the grouper and I had a taste which some of the best fish I have ever eaten. We had the goats milk cheesecake for desert and it was soooo good! Another thing my wife noticed was the wait staff attire - smart black shirts (a little formal) with dark jeans (a little casual). It made us feel very comfortable in casual clothing while denoting the upscale ambiance and food quality. What is really astounding was the price. Very affordable! We know where we are going next time we are in town.

I contacted Rick, who I believe is the head chef and owner of the Gafford, because my parents were celebrating my Dad's birthday (it was a particularly special one but I won't mention the number :) ) and since I couldn't be there, I wanted to arrange some special birthday dessert for them. I am living overseas and in a different timezone, so Rick and I communicated via email. He was very responsive and quick to reply with a friendly and accomodating vibe that must be really strong considering it could even be translated through email. He assured me that they would be taken care of. My parents, we so surprised to get this unexpected birthday treat sent from 'the kids' and they felt very welcome when Rick personally visited them at their table to wish a happy birthday, tell some stories about the place, and even showed them around the restaurant. Although I was unable to be there, Rick's kind gesture was a nice consolation prize, shall we say. As a professional in tourism and hospitality myself, I really appreciate and respect this kind of hospitality. Thanks, Rick and the Gafford staff for making my parent's birthday dinner awesome, we all appreciated it!

We’ve been to The Gafford on several our visits to Stuart. It’s in a cute downtown area with many other restaurants and shops. Since Covid arrived they’ve added outdoor seating, and that’s what we chose for this evening.
Our waiter was very nice, quite attentive, and seemed to be handling the entire outdoor area very well.
We shared a Cesar salad, which was very good, and nicely chilled. Our martinis were perfect! Sadly, however, we were disappointed in our meals ( Mabel’s chicken and the grouper) both were terribly salty, especially the asparagus. I’d been looking forward to Mabel’s chicken for weeks, it’s always been a favorite. I was so disappointed.
I think we’ll have to watch the future reviews before we decide to return again.

Every year we celebrate both of our January Birthdays and go somewhere different for dinner.
So glad we found this place.
Great service, plentiful size portions and a energetic atmosphere.
Oh and yes the food was delicious.
We do highly recommend the Smoked Duck wings.
The shrimp and grits were good but the Maple Brined Center Cut Pork Chops terrific.
With lots and lots of dining options in the immediate area it could be a while before were back but do want to go back and try some of their other items.

I believe in giving restaurants a chance if you have a bad experience (this was number 5). I do not understand positive reviews for this place. I returned to have a drink and a small something at the bar. The female bartender (someone said they thought her name is Lauren) was great. Very personable, efficient, friendly, professional. I must tell you that I have tried and tried to like this place...and tonight did not redeem it. I am leary of ordering any food here but went with the highly recommended hamburger - ordered it medium rare ( I noticed well-done burgers all around me and thought they ordered it that way just because they were older). Well, my burger came and it was well-done, just like all the others. I didn't want to complain and told myself I wasn't there for the food. When the bartender came by, I mentioned it to her and she said that if I had said something earlier, she would have had another made. I brushed it off. Toward the end of my evening there, I noticed a man at the bar had ordered a big, gorgeous pork chop. When he cut into it, I noticed it was overcooked. A different bartender, a male, asked the man how his pork chop was and he told him it was overcooked. Believe it or not, the bartender asked, "Is it bearable?" Really, BEARABLE??? Is that the new standard? This scenario was actually repeated again later, with the male bartender using the same term. What an insult to customers!!!! This was the 5th chance I have given this place. I AM DONE. If you want to be treated with respect, visit the Riverwalk Cafe.

G95030, Thank you for taking the time to send in your review. 1st i agree with you that the Riverwalk is a great restaurant however, I find it hard to believe that we have messed your experience up 4 times prior and you would still come back not to mention that in a crowded bar you are able to determine the temperature of everyones meal. I'm not saying that we are perfect, we certainly make mistakes but our staff is trained to correct those mistakes as soon as they know, which we will ask early after your first couple of bites. We take our food, service and hospitality very serious and sure are sorry that we could not make you happy in 5 visits, you are obviously a very patient person, I would never give a restaurant 5 chances if they could not make it right after the 2nd or 3rd time. I would invite you back in to personally take care of you but I think after 5 times you probably are done with us. I wish you great dining. Thank you again for your time.

Great food . Liked the cheese board. But wanted the crab pimento cheese. They were 86 odd to be out of a menu item on a Friday night 8pm. But my filet was perfect. Someone had the hanger steak and she ate it all. Had grouper from menu was good too.

The Gafford has a wonderful menu with something for everyone. We enjoyed Caesar salad and roasted Parmesan cauliflower for appetizers. I had swordfish prepared the way I like it sautéed with olive oil, lemon,garlic and parsley. Fantastic! The drinks here were a great pour and the wait staff was wonderful...very attentive.

Our group of 11 had dinner(with a reservation) on a busy Thursday. Our meal and service were top notch!! At our table we had the cheese board, burratta and cauliflower apps, the meat loaf, filet, veal, short rib, ahi tuna, salmon (w bbq), mahi special, and cesaer salads. For dessert we had the banana pudding, apple pie, and peanut butter pie. Every bite we had was amazing! Our favorites were the meat loaf, salmon and ahi - but the osso bucco (veal) and short rib were both melt in your mouth tender. Each dessert was awesome and memorable. Almost hate to write this review and let anyone else in on this secret! We will definitely be back !

We were seated immediately upon our arrival. Our table was by the kitchen which normally I wouldn’t like due to the hustle bustle , but the atmosphere was low key and relaxing. Our service was spot on! Ryan our server did a fantastic job! I have a few diet restrictions and was easily accommodated. Now, let’s get to the food! Just WOW! The tomato bisque with crabmeat..❤️ Not enough words to describe how delicious this was! We also had the roasted cauliflower...I could have made a meal out of this alone! We also had the steak filet. It was cooked to absolute perfection...so tender no knife needed! and I’m a “veggie person” so using local produce was a absolute “icing on the cake” for me. We had not been here before, but we will be coming back! I joked with our server that he was going to get to know me on a first name basis! Thank you for a memorable evening!

A beautiful restaurant that has excellent cocktails and fine spirits selections and food menus. I had swordfish (which is usually very firm and sometimes even a bit tough by nature) which was flaky and tender. My fiancé had Steak and Lobster. We had grilled Avocado and Blue Crab with Lobster Bisque which was wonderful!. The coconut cake was superb too.

This restaurant in downtown Stuart doesn't offer waterfront views, but they make up for it with a great menu. Prices vary, so you have choices to fit your budget. The best meal is Mabel's fried chicken! It's so delicious. The salads are great too, and they have a nice wine list.

Debbie fixed us up from the start with our Valentines dinner reservation. Enjoyed the walnut Halibut and Taylor/s fried chicken hiding a hill of yummy mashed potatoes. Our waiter Tim did an excellent job-attentive and knowledgeable.Topped dinner off with the pecan ice cream and a huge and delicious carrot cake. You can't go wrong and the place always has a hustling local vibe.
