Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A few years ago, when the Yummy house first opened in Sarasota, I had the misfortune to have a terrible experience. I went back today, years later, to their new location, and was very pleasantly surprised by the great food and great service. The dim sum was delicious, the sweet and sour chicken was perfect, and the salt and pepper calamari was fantastic. The service was spot on as well. I'm really happy that I gave them a second chance, and I'll definitely go back for more.

Just back from NY, first stop Yummy house.
Hot and sour soup and salt and pepper tofu for starters. Amazing! The ladies loved the pomcran martinis. The dishes just came coming and the portions are way too big not to take home. Just go and see why this place is the best. Worth the short wait.

We ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice and Szechuan Chicken to go. The food was good & tasty, but not outstanding or I would have given it 5 stars. One thing I didn’t like is that they did not include rice with the meals we ordered. They charged $1 extra for that.

Having heard that food here was great, we stopped in, dismissing the lack of ambiance. Our selections were sesame chicken and almond chicken with a side of brown rice (at extra charge). Both dishes were equally bland. Adding a good amount of soy sauce helped make them palatable. The sesame chicken is unlike the traditional type you would expect. It consists of large balls of fried dough dipped in a bit of honey and rolled in sesame seeds. When you bite into one, you taste a trace of meat. All the ingredients in the chicken almond dish had the same bland taste. The tea was weak, the cookies served at the end tasted like cheap boxed cookies from a low end grocery. The portions are huge for the price, which I assume is the draw. P.F.Changs in Sarasota or China Taste near Jacaranda circle in Venice are better options by far!!!

My husband and I stopped by Yummy House yesterday to get food to go. Beef Chow Fun and Kung Po Chicken. When we got home, we opened up the plastic bag, and it was “not” a pleasant surprise, the Beef Chow Fun looked like it was the leftover of some ones meal, the Kung Po Chicken was loaded with garlic and the chicken was shredded. We have eaten at their establishment several times before, and I guess “dining in” they are a little more careful what they serve you, but take out is something else. We were very disappointed, and I would not recommend taking food home without checking it. We are am sorry we did not take pictures so you could see!
$ 26.73 into the garbage!!

The fault, alas, may lie with the public's persistent support of this pitiful excuse and extreme insult to Chinese cuisine. Even to Chinese American cuisine which allows for some compromising of exotic flavorings and addition of sauciness, or reduction of heat to accommodate American palates. But, Yummy is not producing concessionary food, it totally surrenders to an indecent degree to commercial tastes and profit. The food is tasteless, mass produced, swimming in flavorless sauces, not precisely cooked and yet, the crowds keep coming. Go figure.

I've been coming here often with my family since they opened the original location. The food is wonderful, new restaurant location has more room and nice atmosphere, and I always get great service from the staff. It's always busy and the parking lot is always full for a good reason EXCELLENT CHINESE FOOD and drinks. Every single dish is a feast for the eyes, nose and stomach. The fried calamari appetizer, shrimp lo mein (I always add pea pods) and mai Tai drinks are always very good here. Take out, delivery and gift certificates are always a great idea because everyone in Sarasota knows how good the Yummi House restaurant is.

We moved to Florida in 2012 (North Port area) and tried many restaurants in the area. Every place was very disappointing. One place, we tasted the food and threw it out immediately. We have learned to cook our own Chinese recipes 'tweeting' them until we came close to what we were used to in the Maryand/D.C. area. My son took us and others to Yummy House and WOW! We ordered 7 entrees and 5 different appetizers to share. Everything was so good. My favorite was the Spicy Yummy Chicken. We were able to try so many different dishes. We had lots of leftovers to enjoy later.

When we first moved to Sarasota in 2017 we visited Yummy House because of the recommendations we got from friends and strangers. (At the old location). It was delicious and everything we had hoped for. We brought our out of town friends and family there many times. Everyone we brought raved about it. We found it hard to get reservations and it was impossible just to walk in. We also visited their new location several times, not as often though, because it was further away from home. We were excited to visit 2 nights ago because we were in the area. We walked right in and there were many available tables. We were very disappointed. The service was bad and the food was worse. We will not be back.

I've Eaten here often and even during covid I've tried to support my favorite restaurants, but things have changed here and the last 2 visits the food was almost inedible. The first time I decided to give them another change since everyone can have an off day. Well this time I ordered the same things I have orderd one past as a good comparison. This food was bad and when we complained the server didn't even make an attempt to correct it, he just apologized as if to say he hears that a lot. I say this with sadness because after (having lived in Asia for many years and knowing good Asian food) I won't be back. The food was so salty it was literally not edible but by the time the server asked and I told him it was not edible all he could say was, sorry since he didn't have showed up at our table for quite some time after the food was served. It was again a bad experience for the second time in a row.

Yummy House serve delicious Chinese food for lunch and dinner. I still love the beef and broccoli or shrimp lo mien, and Mom loves the duck. Dining a la cart is so much better than the buffet restaurants that serve cold stale food. This food was served piping hot, fresh, crispy, and delicious. The bartender also makes terrific a pina colada, zombie, and hurricane. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow during prime time, but that's true with any restaurant ever. My compliments to the Chef! 8v)

Tried this restaurant again after a hiatus, still the food was not very flavorful. I’d say awful. Unfortunately I have not had that much food to go and was really looking forward to this as was my partner. Both of us were sorely disappointed. Sarasota you can do better than this!

I have not had this good of Chinese food in years from since I lived up north. I have heard by word-of-mouth that this place is good and it also has good reviews but I never believe it until I go myself. Let me tell you it was fabulous! I ordered the pork fried rice it was the best fried rice I’ve ever had! No peas and carrots like the cheap places make. I also had beef chow fun which is real tender beef with wide noodles and I asked for it to be spicy it definitely wasn’t that spicy so if you really want it spicy you need to say extra spicy. Ginger martini to start Yum

We’ve tried many local Chinese restaurants, most offer only carry out. Mediocre at best. Tried The Yummy House and it was more than yummy! We ordered one order each to share—spring rolls, won ton soup and cashew chicken with rice. So much to eat and very fresh! We brought soup and chicken dish leftovers home to enjoy again! Will definitely go back to dine in or takeout.

I’m going to start by saying we moved to Sarasota from New England about 7 months ago and this is the best Chinese food we’ve had since moving. We we’re starting to give up hope. We went about 6 on a Saturday night and grabbed two seats at the bar. Lucky as it started to fill up quickly in the dining area and take out was doing a brisk business. Dh got a Manhattan and I had a rum and coke. We got two apps. Salt and pepper chicken wings were very good. Different kind of wings than what we’re used to. They’re kind of breaded and then fried. Also got pork spare ribs. Very tasty but kind of hard to eat since they had bones but were cut in one inch pieces. Also ordered veggie lo mein and beef with veggies. It was delicious. We couldn’t finish it all. We both got another drink and the bill was $88. We will definitely be back. Only thing we wished they had was crab Rangoon.
