New Menu, enhanced interior

I had to travel for work extensively and ate out more than at home. so when we settled in Madison, we were selective about what restaurants to frequent. I don't know how Rancho Grande is not at the very top of your list. It has the best food, consistency, cool atmosphere and enjoyable, competent staff in Madison - bar none. To top that off, about a year ago, they started using a new menu with all the old favorites along with some wonderful new dishes. It doesn't matter if you think you don't like Mexican food; you will find something to enjoy here. STOP HERE FIRST!

The food was excellent!!! They have a large menu, which I normally think is bad, but it consists of a variety of food made and mixed various ways and there is an ala carte section too. Margarita was delicious and not limey. Staying locally for another couple weeks, We will be back!

Cute Town, Great Find

Dropped in via long travel day. Found this cute antique filled town and a wonderful Mexican restaurant. Food was homemade delicious and perfect size servings. We were able to eat most, not take any home, which we liked. I had taco salad, vegetarian style and it was great! Service very good?

I’ve eaten here numerous times over the years. When they first opened the service was great, the food was fresh, and the prices were fair. In the last two years, the place has taken a nose dive. No one seats customers as a host/hostess, no server has any idea what tables are theirs, no one checks on tables (we always have to flag someone down to order or get a drink refill), and the food is soggy or bland. Like all places, Covid drove up prices. But paying $60 for a family of 4 who share food is ridiculous. The only reason they stay open is there are no other real choices in town. Only eat here if you have to.

Delicious food

I had a delicious meal here. The complimentary salsa and chips were delicious and had the perfect spice level. I got the tacos de carnitas plate. The pork in the carnitas was excellent. The plate came with rice, beans, pico de gallo and hot sauce. The hot sauce was delicious on the rice and the salsa made the tacos even better. My friend had a tostada plate and enjoyed it. Our server was generally good though we did have to call someone over for more water. The attached store has beautiful ceramics and the cashier helped carry our purchases to the car. My big negative was the woman’s restroom had no toilet paper. After I told the group of employees sitting at a nearby table, no one got up to do anything. We were the first patrons of the day so it should have been noticed. A second customer went to use it and no one stopped her; I’m the one who called out to tell her. Someone then got up to get some.

Great Meal!

Met my sister for dinner last Fri night and had a great time. You know it's going to be good when most of the staff speak very little English! Get the California Burrito!!!!

Food great, no waiter designated for our table, had to ask for everything, more than once to who ever passed by. After our meal, a man walked out & said he'd been waiting 20 min. for a beer.

Hidden gem inMadison, FL

I had dinner at the Rancho Grande Mexican restaurant in Madison recently. The food was delicious and the service was fast and responsive. All of the plates I saw going by looked great too. The atmosphere is very cute and I think very authentic. Prices are very reasonable.

Watch your bites before you eat them!

I am leaving this review to bring light to a situation that happened on 6/20/19; today my friend and I came to this restaurant and order the Special Quesadilla fajita’s mix, to split for lunch. We received our food in a timely manner. As we were concluding our meal, with my friend only having a few bites left, my friend takes a bite and makes a funny face and takes something out of her mouth. She put it on the table and asks me what does that look like? I use my napkin to pick it up; it is small and kind of hard, almost like a human fingernail… We ask one of the waitresses over, show her and explain what happened. She promptly takes it to someone (whom I assume is the manager?). This man comes over, asks what happened; we explain. He shakes his head and says I’m so sorry and to not worry about the food (to which we took as do not worry about paying the bill). He takes the piece and goes to the back, saying that he will be right back. We wait a few minutes before we ask one of the waiters over. The waiter begins to explain about how sometimes they will find “weird things” in the packages of ground beef; he also offers that since we had a quesadilla he has no idea how something like that could have happened because of the meat used in it (the quesadilla we ordered had steak, shrimp, and chicken pieces in it). The manager comes back over and he and the waiter explain how they went back and asked the kitchen and staff to show their hands, and that no one had any broken fingernails. The waiter even tries to prompt my friend, telling her that she can’t leave until she smiles; this is after my friend has told him that she will not be coming back to this restaurant and that she feels sick to her stomach. Both the waiter and manager just talked about how their staff wears gloves, but the way they were talking is what is bothersome, like they were trying to use humor tones to diffuse the situation? Although the comp for the meal was a gesture that I am sure was meant to help the situation, this goes beyond just getting food for free. When my friend and I left and got into my car she broke down in tears. Because she was frustrated and felt like she was not heard by the restaurant staff. She felt violated at the fact that she chewed and spit out a human fingernail, and the only thing that this manager could do was to ask a question to his staff to show their hand and prove if they had a missing nail or not? I leave this review in hopes that this establishment will take better sanitary measures to ensure that this will not happen to future customers. To anyone who may choose to still eat at this restaurant, I urge to be cautious when eating your food and to check your bites before you have the same situation happen to you as it did my friend…

Great lunch

Very enjoyable lunch with family. They had combination plates. I venture more towards the authentic. I had a shrimp cocktail and Mexican street tacos al pastor. Both were delicious. I don’t think the tortillas were made in house, but the filling was great. Very neat atmosphere and a gift shop.

Birthday dinner

Went with my wife and daughters to celebrate my birthday. Restaurant to colorful and comfortable, staff is friendly. Service was prompt. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. Two of us had salads, which were good. I especially enjoyed the chili relenos. AlYs a good time there

Good Mexican food at a good price.

The food is good, but I really wish they would season the food, it`s like their afraid to season the food, I want to get as close to authentic Mexican cuisine as I can get, as long is there is salt, pepper, and hot sauce available, I guess I can get buy.

Family Dinner

We are in town to visit my son. We all love Mexican food. In total there were 12 of us. They had one table to accommodate all of us. That was nice. We were all taken care of in a timely manner. We didn’t have to wait for drinks. They even put extra chips and salsa on the table without us having to ask. The food was fabulous. My husband and I each had 2 margaritas, I had an the Burrito Azteca. My husband had tostadas, publano pepper and a side of beans. All that for about $46.00. I’m especially impressed for having 12 people how efficient the service was. I can’t wait to go back again when I’m visiting again.
