About
The original definition of a restaurant used to be: owners cooking for their guests and extending the personal touch to their time at the joint, serving great food, wines, beers and having personal conversations, time allowing. That's why they come back! And that's what we attempt to do every evening that we serve dinner. Our great servers get to know you and handle the conversation when we are frankly too busy to leave the kitchen at times. After 25 years of service, I think we are going to make it!! Thank you to all that have graced our little spot over years, thanks a million!! Romin Burdiez, Chef/Owner (and by the way, we love kids, have a few of our own, and provide a special menu just for them!) Please check Victoria Shearer's new book that just came out: Florida Keys & Key West Chef's Table, to grab a recipe or two :) Our menu is updated and printed daily.

This early lunch was our first visit under the new ownership. We didn’t really receive a greeting upon entering, just an advisement to “sit anywhere”. Only one other table was occupied at 11:30AM on a Monday. Our server was brisk and not overly welcoming. Menus were dropped in front of us and water glassed plopped down. Water was refilled without having to be requested. The lunch menu is fairly standard, including sandwiches, burgers, wraps and platters. There are no fountain sodas and no draft beer. The Philly cheese steak ($11.99) came on a toasted roll. The beef was slightly dry and had a couple of gristles. The hogfish platter ($14.95) featured a large filet and was perfectly fried. Both came with unusual and excellent potato fries/chips. They are about ¼” thick crescent shaped pieces of crisp fried potato. The only “hot” sauce available was the not very hot Cholula. The food came from the kitchen hot and freshly prepared. If you go, have the hogfish platter.

Excellent service from the owner. Potstickers were great, the creamy tomato soup was insane, dessert was over the top. My daughter said that the steak was one of the best she ever had and cooked perfectly. My pesto scallop pasta dish was slamming with flavor. My husband had the carbonara seafood linguini special and he was thrilled. Honestly one of the best meals on the trip for sure! You could tell the owners love what they do and they truly care about the food they serve. Highly recommend and would absolutely return!

My husband and I had been to the Barracuda numerous times in the past and loved it, but were reluctant to try it since the ownership had changed. This past Saturday, we decided to give it a whirl and am I ever glad we did! While the ownership has changed, I am happy to report that the Menu is the SAME! I had the Red Hot Calamari & Shrimp. It is listed as an Appetizer on the menu but the owner, Yanni, who was also our server, said they would serve a dinner portion over pasta or rice if I liked. I had it over pasta and it was as delicious as I remembered. My husband had a dinner portion of the Red Thai Curry Shrimp over rice. He really enjoyed it and the bite that I had of it was delicious. We both had caesar salads, which were also very good. Service was just perfect, too! Will definitely be back again, likely this weekend!

We stay in Marathon every year and have never had bad food or bad service. Sadly we had both here. We decided to try this restaurant because it had good reviews and we’ve truly never had anything bad in the keys. We got there at 7ish and finally left about 9:30. 2 and a half hours for a meal feels like an eternity when your drinks are empty and food isn’t coming out. Our waiter was inattentive and wouldn’t let you finish a sentence when asking for something. Food was pretty bland in all our opinions and there was 6 in our party. Hopefully the service and food was a staffing issue from COVID, but this isn’t a restaurant I would recommend.

My sister and I spent the weekend in Marathon and although I've been to many restaurants in the keys, I've never been to Barracuda Grill. The reviews sounded great so I made a reservation for Friday night. What a complete disappointment and waste of money. The waitress was friendly but a mess. Although we were a party of two she went and cleaned and set the table for four (not a big deal), then I asked for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, she gave me a taste of one then returned with a bottle of Chardonnay. I told her I wanted the Sauvignon that I tasted and she said she couldn't find the bottle. When she poured the wine to taste and a glass she dribbled a stream of wine on the table each time. She then asked us why she set a table for four and laughed. We then ordered appetizers, nothing to write home about. Would never order them again. A bus boy then sat at a table next to us and was clanking silverware while sorting it in a tray. Not what we would expect for $130 dinner for two with one glass of wine. We then ordered surf and turf, filet mignon and lobster tail. While we were waiting for our food, our waitress sat down at the table next to us with some other restaurant staff and chatted. We tried to get her eye, when we finally did she went back in the kitchen and got our food. The Florida lobster tail was amazing, the mashed potatoes were excellent but the filet mignon was horrible. Neither of us could eat it. When we asked her what kind of meat that was (it tasted like lamb or something) she seemed offended. We remained friendly with her to get through it but the service was horrible and the food was way over priced for the quality. We talked to a local the next day and they said Barracuda Grill is a tourist trap. Don't waste your money!

We had lunch at the Barracuda today. First time there since it changed ownership a while back (even though we're locals it's hard to make it to every place in town ... so many options!) We had a good experience. It was very busy but our server, Yani, was a whirlwind! She took care of the customers as quickly as she could and everyone in the place appreciated her effort. Lots of smiling faces all around. Our tuna tataki appetizer was wonderful, albeit a bit expensive at $17, but we were happy with it. My husband's churrasco was awesome; cooked perfectly and excellent quality. My chicken quesadilla was really good. Right balance of cheese, chicken and veggies. Portions were generous, everything was fresh. Creme brulee was yummy! I got an interesting red wine that was very good. My husband's sangria was disappointing, though; it was so sour he couldn't finish it. Other than that we were quite happy with our meal and will definitely return. Yani is a force of nature and made our visit fun. I recommend this place with no reservations!

From the moment we walked into this restaurant, we were treated as if family. Our waitress Yani and her husband have created a wonderful restaurant, it is beautiful but most importantly the food is the best in Marathon Key. Every person we encountered during our trip told us to try Barracuda Grill, and I am so glad we did. I have never left from a restaurant so happy, the food was cooked to perfection (we had the fried calamari, hogfish, grouper, tuna tataki, and bread pudding). The seafood was so fresh, the fish melted in our mouths. Each bite from each plate was delicious, we were so full but we kept on ordering since we wanted to try as much as possible. If you have the chance, try this restaurant! We are huge foodies and love going out to eat, I rarely leave reviews but this restaurant and it's owners definitely deserve it. You will leave satisfied from this restaurant; it is a must and Yani is the sweetest and makes the dining experience so much more special. We will definitely be back!

Far and away the best meal we had in Marathon. My husband and I shared an escargot appetizer, served in a bowl with a delicious sauce. There must have been 20 escargot and some tasty mushrooms, as well as some excellent crusty bread for dipping. The special of pork shank was too tempting to pass up and we sure were glad we went with that. Plenty to share, I think the waiter said 14 oz excluding the bone. It was perfectly prepared and the sauce was AMAZING! We loved everything about our meal, the ambiance, the service couldn't have been better.

We had dinner two nights while on a trip to the keys and each night was a 10 out of 10 experience. Quaint small quiet restaurant with great food. The Wahoo fish spread appetizer is a must try as are any of the seafood entrees. Nice wine list to compliment the meal. Also have to try the key lime pie it is legit. And service is top notch our waitress Yvette was great - friendly and outgoing and really cared about making the experience special. If you are in the keys - put this on your must visit list.

We sat outside. The front patio is ON the overseas hwy but set back enough to enjoy your food. It took a long time to get a menu. The waiter didn’t have a good enough command of the language to explain certain meals. He told us our scampi came with mashed potatoes when the menu said pasta. It ended up coming with pasta! We ordered Brussels sprouts, shrimp scampi, and Caesar salad with scallops. Everything was very fresh but it took about 7 minutes to get a glass for the beer and when it came it was plopped down, not even poured. No refill offered on the soda. A salad came with the scampi. I asked for vinaigrette, he brought ranch. No bread came with the meal and the total cost came to $100. Shrimp on the bill showed $2 more than stated on the menu. When I mentioned it, she crumbled the menu in my face and said that was an old menu. Look, staff is short everywhere but from the pics I see on FB of this place the same staff has been there for years. Expensive, fresh, poor service from those who should know better. BTW, they had tables but it wasn’t packed where there may be a reason for the service.

This was the best meal I had in years. The fish was PERFECT. The truffle oil edamame was incredible and unforgettable. Something so simple made so well. Overall the entire menu is unique and fresh. The staff is wonderful. We booked reservations on open table two days ahead for a Friday just after sunset reservation. We were pleased with the social distancing and COVID conscious environment. A “must do” for foodies visiting Marathon!

We arrived at Barracuda Grill shortly after they opened, at 6 PM, and were surprised we were the only ones in the parking lot. We were greeted at the door. The Grill has indoor and outdoor seating but we opted to dine inside. The service was good and quick! It began to get busier but social distancing and masks were adhered to per protocol. We opted to skip appetizers as salads and sides were included in the entrees. I chose the Yellowtail Snapper and my wife chose the Crispy Duck. The salads were nice and on chilled plates, served with warm rolls. The main course portions were large and served very hot. The best preparation of Snapper that I have ever enjoyed. I eyed the Duck suspiciously as I don’t think of it as a Florida Keys dish but my Wife thoroughly enjoyed it and I sampled it. The skin was perfectly crispy but the meat was still moist and flavorful. The bar was limited to beer and wine but there were nice selections in each. Our dinner was so good that we decided to share the Bananas Foster....an excellent choice! We will be back here again

We had a wonderful meal here, enjoyed by all 4 of us. After a disappointing meal at another restaurant, I was hoping this would be better. It certainly was. While not cheap, our meals were worth it. Each dish was cooked perfectly and with care. The restaurant was small and welcoming, the waitress was attentive, the food was delicious. I can't imagine why others have rated this restaurant poorly. Don't pay attention to them

Delicious fine dining restaurant made with fresh ingredients. The shrimp shumai appetizer was divine. So was the salad with blue cheese. The shrimp scampi with linguine was fresh. It wasn’t soaking in butter wine sauce the way I’m used to it. My waitress also works at the Dolphin Research Center, where I had just come from. We had great conversation. Another waitress kept asking how I am doing. I was shocked to see another reviewer say they received bad service. That must have been a one off because it definitely is not the current situation. To top it off, my waitress told me that another table paid my bill but preferred to remain anonymous!

We read all the reviews that said, "get there at 6...order the hogfish!" So we were really looking forward to this! Instead, we went at noon but they didn't have hogfish. It didn't stop me from intermittantly whispering to my husband all vacation, "get there at 6...order the hogfish!" Since there was no hogfish, I got shrimp enchiladas, which had nothing to do with an enchilada. Instead it was this amazing shrimp in red sauce that was a titch spicy and tangy and just delish. It came with a side of beans and rice. My husband got the coconut fish wrap and he was equally as impressed. Portions are large, prices are good, and the waitress was extremely friendly.
