About
Mangrove Mike's isn't just a restaurant, it's an experience. This family run diner hums with the spirit of its late founder, the legendary Mike Forster who established in 1998. Mike was a bonafide lover of The Everglades, hooked on fishing, and wore his Makau (Hawaiian fishhook) necklace like a badge of honor. Now, the journey continues with new owners, but still keeping it in the family. Together with a loyal staff, they're serving up more than just great food, they're crafting memories. Mike’s legacy lives on, from the food and ambiance to the Makau, and the iconic skull logo that made our cafe so recognizable across the world. If you are looking to be part of the Florida Keys vibe, you have come to the right place! Breakfast All Day! The Legacy Lives On! Paige & Asher

Tater tots! Yup forget home fries or grits and you can get them both here also get the tater tots. Just like 30 years ago at school. This place delivers each and every time. Great omelets or waffles with fruit piles high. If you are done being Bitten by the $20 dollar crepe (it is good though) and leaving there hungry, you will eat here every day.

We had decided to leave our resort for breakfast one morning and chose Mangrove Mike's based on reviews. We were not disappointed. We were greeted quickly and sat outside on the patio. There is indoor seating, as well as patio seating. Servers are wearing masks, and patrons are ask to where masks until seated. It is a very casual place, but the breakfast food & service hit the mark. Our family had everything from omelets, chocolate chip pancakes, blueberry french toast, bacon/sausage, eggs (cooked various ways) & home fries (weren't my favorite). I had wished we had tried their tater tots, but that will have to be on a future visit.... so yes, we will return :) We felt the price was very reasonable for the amount of food you got, and trust me, you will not leave hungry.

For five years, Mangrove Mikes has been the our first and last meal while visiting the Keys (and usually once in the middle). This year didn't disappoint. Great food and great, friendly service. We did one meal as takeout and ate at the cafe on our way out of town - we greatly appreciate their efforts to help reduce the spread of the virus. Thanks, see you again next year!

Hesitant to post this review after seeing so many positive ones, but I have to just say this. The 5 star reviewers must not know a quality breakfast if it hit them in the face. But to each their own. It was the most unappetizing and poorest quality breakfast I have EVER been served. First lets talk about the "country ham" they advertise. It's nothing more than a cheap piece of low budget spongy banquet ham. The two eggs were so small on my husband's plate that he joked that they must have been quail eggs. Ridiculous. The hashbrowns tasted like old oil. Mine were the ones that got pushed to the corner of the grill since they opened. They were almost inedible. I ordered the Western style breakfast and opted for the wrap choice. It came rolled in a horrible tasting sundried tomato wrap , had literally two slivers of onion and one sliver of green pepper and a cheap velveeta type cheese oozed out. Lets go back to the ham. The same junky, spongey ham was chopped the size of playing dice and there had to be 25 pieces of it. The egg "product" used for this Western Wrap was right out of a bag. Definitely not real eggs. Absolutely abominable. It was my birthday breakfast and boy was it atrocious. I tried to kindly tell the server that she should warn of the sundried tomato wrap first off and that it was the most horrid breakfast I've ever been served. All the gross chunks of ham were strewn across the picked open wrap and the hashbrowns were barely touched. She asked what I didn't like about it. In addition, even the coffee was wretched. I wish I was making this up because it was almost as if I was being punked . I hate sending food back because you know what happens when you do that. Simply will NEVER return.

This place was recommended by our resort, and had an extensive breakfast menu. I opted for the Popeye omelette with home fries. Omelette was good, but honestly had more mushrooms than eggs. And the home fries consisted of at least 2 large potatoes, but were mushy and seasoned with a ton of paprika. If all you care about is quantity, this is your restaurant.

Friendly staff and pet friendly, but number 1 place? I don’t think so. My husband had fried eggs, sausage and grits. He is still trying to figure out what kind of meat it was. Said it was similar to hotdogs but was definitely some type of sausage, just not one he would order again. Also came with tator tots instead of grits, but he was ok with that. They were very tasty. I had the Mexican Omelet. It was a combination of canned chili beans, premade guacamole, a bunch of sour cream, olives and sour cream. It was mediocre at best. Oh, did I mention it was just barely warm. Maybe if we had ordered the French toast or something we would have understood the high rating, but as far as food quality and taste, it was a big negative for us. The service was very nice and friendly and the tator tots were very good. See, I ended on a positive

Friendly staff. Took my temperature at the door when I put my name on the list. We ordered the kitchen sink tater-tot breakfast plate and the bacon egg and cheese tater tot dish. Both were awesome. My 5 year old loved that we were eating tater-tots for breakfast.

My husband and I had lunch once and breakfast every day for our week stay in Islamorada. The food, prices and service are exceptional! Bacon, eggs, toast and fruit or potatoes for under 10 bucks. Felt like being in your hometown diner. Loved it.

This is an average breakfast restaurant with good pancakes but that’s about it. The grits is tasteless, and the coffee is of the cheapest variety. It was a chilly morning and I had a real craving for biscuits. They’re on the menu, but only smothered with gravy. When I substituted for a biscuit instead of toast, I found out why. It was dry, not fresh and had been warmed up by grilling. I guess there’s a reason they’re not offered except with gravy. With not many breakfast restaurant choices in Islamorada, McDonald’s probably would have been better. This wasn’t our first visit and we keep giving them chances, but we will not be back.

We read some great reviews on Mangrove Mikes so we headed there. Our breakfast was so wonderful we decided to head there a second time as well. Food was very tasty, large portions @ affordable prices. Very busy place so make sure to leave yourself some time.

Our go to breakfast place. Take several trips to the keys yearly and Mangrove Mikes is our breakfast favorite. Food always great, service with a smile, staff friendly and welcoming, and for you early morning fishing people, call or stop in the call before and they will have your order ready to go as early as 6am. This last trip Emily was our server and she was great.

Locals place with the usual menu. Great breakfast! Nice prices. Good service. They are now featuring Tater Tot towers in many combinations. They also offer 3 low-carb french toast flavors. The bread is made by a local baker and is served with no sugar syrup.

What a special breakfast. During our month long stay in Islamorada we have visited twice after church and love their French Toast. My wife is gluten intollerent and it is not a problem for Mangrove Mike's. She too had French Toast. They prepare French Toast in many different ways but we stayed with the "traditional." This is a very organized restaurant. Super popular but they get you seated fast and don't rush you when eating. After a great meal, check out the jewelry shop just adjacent to the cash register area. Beautiful creations there.

We ate at Mangrove Mike’s mainly because it is located next door to our hotel, and boy am I glad it is and we did! Very busy place and possibly not as much social distancing, but all wait staff wore masks. Our server was prompt and attentive; knowledgeable about the menu. I had eggs Benedict Oscar with crab meat. Melted. In. My. Mouth. My husband had the more traditional eggs, bacon, toast and said it was all fine. We kept meaning to go back during lunch but never got around to it.

We have been going to Mangrove Mike's Cafe for years and have never been disappointed. They can be busy during Prime Breakfast Time and the short wait is always worth it. We were quickly greeted as we walked in the door and seated within a few minutes. The service was very good and the food was delicious. We had Eggs Benedict and a Belgium Waffle with Blueberries. Our Service Animals were offered a Bowl of Water. We always know we can count on good food and good service.
