For a Sunday night, it was very busy. The wait was about an hour and they made you make a reservation even if you are already there. While waiting there was the option to go to the bar, play cornhole, sit and relax or walk down the dock. You can drive, boat or walk to the restaurant because it is conveniently located for hotel residents. Expect delays and waits for to all the people on the island at the resort. This place was full of hard working and helpful employees. The Lobster Mac 'n cheese was delish but the lobster was hard to taste although there were chunks of lobster here and there throughout the dish. The Angler and Ale burger was very good with the Brieolsh bun.

We stopped here on our way back from key west, our peel an eat shrimp were good my only complaint on them is they have no crackers and I love crackers with my peel an eats. Everyone else’s food was ok and arrived very quickly BUT mine,, I ordered the $49 New York strip and they brought me a strip steak I think is what it was called, I told the waiter the problem he admitted it was his fault which I can appreciate and took the steak back to make it right but everyone was done eating and my steak still had not arrived, finally it comes and it’s a beautiful cut of meat and delicious. They took 12% off the bill which was $17 and some change. The view and atmosphere overlooking the marina is nice. My meal Just disappointed in the time it took to arrive.

We are so glad you decided to stop in and check us out and soak up some of our breathtaking views. Thank you for the tip on the crackers, and I will certainly talk that over with the chef! While we are overjoyed everyone's food was more than memorable, I regret there was a mixup with your steak. We sincerely apologize for this, and I hope we can make it up to you next time you are in the area!

The Angler and Ale is located on Duck Key adjacent the Hawks Cay Resort and is considered upscale casual eating. Their pricing is also upscale even compared to the Keys. I had the Chicken Breast Jerk Style with two drinks. I also got the MM Cookie and Chocolate Cheese Cake to go for my wife. All were extremely good.

We went to Angler and Ale last night to treat our hosts to dinner for our last night in Duck Key. What a disappointment! We waited 40 minutes for our wine and it finally came because we spoke to the manager twice. When it came, it was not what had been ordered. (Two glasses of Rose and one bottle of Chardonnay...how hard is that?) We ordered tuna nachos for appetizers and they came way before our wine. The waitstaff didn't know what table they belonged too. Then dinner arrived (still no wine) and it was nothing that resembled what we ordered. I only mention this because not only the manager, but the waitstaff was inefficient and totally oblivious to what was going on. What we had hoped would be a special treat for our hosts turned out to be a total dud. After 40 minutes of waiting for a glass of wine and dinner nowhere in sight, we gave up and left. I will say that a couple of years ago, we had a great meal there. I hear that the management has changed and there sure is alot of work to do. We will not ever be returning there. It is ashame because that place should be a goldmine for the resort!

We are very sorry that our customer service was lacking on the night that you stopped by for dinner. After an extended wait, your group had only been served with an appetizer and we would like to apologize for this inconvenience. Thank you for your patience as you tried to give us the chance to provide you with your dinner and drinks. We appreciate being chosen as the place for your special dinner and it is our regret that we were not able to provide you with an excellent experience. Hopefully, in the future, we will have the opportunity to change your current opinion.

We were renting a place in Duck Key and decided to give Angler and Ale a try, given the lack of options in the immediate area. We were pleased with the food and service the first time we ate there, even though they forgot a menu item after reminding them twice about it. We returned the next day with some family members who were staying with us. Despite the waiter confirming our items, we received fish sandwiches after ordering fish tacos. We let it slide because mistakes happen. For our last night in Duck Key, we ordered takeout, and once again, the order was wrong. It was missing a soup and a salad side order was replaced with fries. Not only that, I found a fish bone the size of a quarter in a fish sandwich. The manager gave us an extra soup, which we appreciated, but nothing was done about the fish bone. It was just “noted.” I tend to give restaurants slack, especially now with the pandemic, but it’s hard to give a free pass to a restaurant that charges $20+ for most dishes. Angler and Ale looks like a stylish restaurant with top-notch food, but looks can be deceiving. Insufficient attention to detail and a lack of customer care keeps this restaurant from being one of the best restaurants in the area.

We went here because we stayed at hawks cay resort. What a shame as the last review said. Im from Florida and I know real shrimp especially Florida shrimp…. Well we ordered the coconut shrimp it’s a frozen boxed shrimp they probably got from GFS or Costco type stores and the plate came with under cooked rice with black beans (not much of it) and broccoli which tasted pretty good with seasoning. The plate was $33! Won’t ever come back here they even stayed fresh shrimp it’s not. The staff was very kind and attentive but that’s about it. The presentation is nice but that’s how they get you…. Food looks nice on place but it’s actually terrible. People want a good mean anywhere if you paying these prices. Just warning you ask if the fish is fresh and stay clear from the fried shrimp it’s frozen garbage.

Our family went on a fishing charter and brought back some Mangrove Snapper. The staff at the restaurant were very sweet to my son who was so excited because it was his first deep sea fishing trip. They made sure to ask him how he wanted his fish cooked and they were all very kind and attentive and accommodating to our entire family, as we did not have reservations but they got us a table anyway and made the end of our son's first fishing trip extra special!

For our first day on our keys trip, we picked Angler and Ale due to the proximity to the JollynRoger RV Park. We asked to be seated on the deck and were quickly sat at a great view table right along the rail. The fully stocked bar enabled us to get our fav. Martini of Hendricks. Unfortunately, rain chose to chase us inside the restaurant where a table was quickly set up for us. I had the whole fried snapper. It came out perfectly cooked, moist and not dried out in the least. The chili sauce drizzled on it is my favorite way to have it and they did not disappoint. Careen, our server was a gem and made sure we were taken care of. Thanks, Careen and the rest of the staff.

Visited twice, once we had a fantastic server and the food was very good. Second visit, server was very poor, but the food was still pretty good. Food was a little pricey for the taste and for the quantity - ordered a side salad that was $5 and was about 1/2 cup of mixed greens and some tomatoe pcs. Limited drink menu. Atmosphere was good but not unique.

We ate here 2 of the 7 nights we stayed at Hawks Cay. Was lucky enough to get Liz on both occasions. She genuinely seemed happy that you were there and knew all the menu items and I’m almost sure with 8 of us dining twice we ordered everything on the menu. Not a single mediocre dish was placed at our table. Being a Floridian and coming to the keys for 40+ years you learn to not expect great service. It’s the exception not the rule. And when you receive exemplary service you truly appreciate it. Liz is a true asset to the Angler and Ale brand and I hope her hard work is being recognized by management because people like her are hard to find in these islands. And no.... I’m not one of her relatives!! Lol. Go see Liz, order what she tells you is amazing that night on the menu, order some drinks and enjoy! You won’t be disappointed

My husband and I just spent a week in Duck Key. As there are many options for meals in the area, we found ourselves eating at Angler and Ale as much as possible, as the food and service is unbelievable. Liz Saunders was our server, she went beyond expectations to where we felt like we are part of the family!

A few friends stopped here for dinner after spending the day playing tennis at Hawks Cay resort. We were seated underneath dripping water which should’ve been fixed over the last six months of no customers during Covid. They were very aware of it. After we moved we were waited by a nice gal. Had to ask for bread and water, as it was an NOT an automatic thing. Hog fish ceviche, tuna nachos, skirt steak and a burger for had by the group all were done to their liking and were prepared perfectly.

Gorgeous views, great food. We much preferred Angler & Ale over the fancier restaurant in the resort. Our servers were all friendly and made great suggestions. My husband loved the hogfish special and I loved the wedge salad and key lime pie. (The only minor thing was that it is a bit of a walk from the resort but well worth it!) Also had a good local beer selection. We could have sat outside all night. We were there mid-week and never had to wait to be seated, even for an outside table with no reservations.

It is excellent to read our knowledgeable team assisted greatly in your delicious meal selections. I can see why your husband was impressed as there is no fresher fish around and the key lime pie is one of my favorites too! The toasted meringue is the best! Be sure to return to indulge in more of our dishes here at Angler & Ale at Hawks Cay, Courtney!

Possibly the best grouper I have ever had. The flavors of this week’s special complimented the dish without overwhelming the food. Service is superb; call out to Keisha who made two weary travelers feel right at home. Try their key lime pie....yummy.
