A top three restaurant in New Haven. The staff were very knowledgeable and attentive. Went on a Monday and was impressed with how active and lively it was. Me and a colleague shared the Parillada, which is essentially a wooden meat slab from heaven of NY strip, sausage, pork loin, and the very impressive chicken that seemed to have a layer of seasoning that uniquely stood out amongst the meats. To top it all off, I highly recommend the Grenache wine flights, which is a very reasonable priced set of three wines that ideally should be drank in a 2, 1, 3 order per the waiter (he was right). This place was phenomenal.

This restaurant is a trendy hotspot for friends to hang out, much like its sister locations in West Hartford and Fairfield. You come here, order from a large tapas menu, and share. The food quality is great - we ordered patatas bravas (potatoes in spicy salsa), pan con tomate, potato tortilla, spicy beef empanadas, and grilled corn cazuela, and everything was consistently outstanding. It does get pretty noisy in here, especially on evenings over the weekend, so either come here early (as we did) if you don't have a high noise tolerance. They've done a really good job of making this restaurant as safe as is possible during the pandemic, with contactless paying, food delivered to the "clean" part of your table, and digital waiting rooms. Service was pretty prompt, and while the food's pretty expensive (especially more than what you'd pay in Spain for the same food), the quality and unique experience justifies the price in this case.

We came here for dinner and were quite pleased. It’s a nice place with fresh and modern decor. It can become a bit loud, but nothing too disruptive. Servers were nice and courteous. Food took a little while to arrive, however it was excellent. In particular, the croquettes and steak with truffle sauce were delicious. The vegetable paella was quite oily and our only major disappointment. It’s a good place to go to if in New Haven and would return. Recommended.

I had made a reservation for 7pm. When I arrived just before 7pm there was a queue of well over 30 people all with reservations waiting to even speak to someone and every other table was full. It was clear they had more than double booked. When eventually I got to speak to someone after 15mins they were barely apologetic, said they had no idea how long we would have to wait still and when I asked how it was possible they had overbooked so badly she replied: “we have good food”. We ended up leaving along with many other people who had been waiting much longer than us and got frustrated with the chaos of being crowded in among tables of people trying to eat.

Barcelona is heavily populated by Yale graduate and junior faculty - the young trendy crowd. It's very loud, so don't expect to carry on a normal conversation - yelling is in order, This is a restaurant chain, currently very popular. We found the servings very small, and not anything special. There are better Spanish restaurants (admittedly with less vibe) in New Haven. The bread and flan are excellent.

Upon arrival and noticing we were the only two guests in the restaurant, the hostess notified us that we would have to sit at the bar as there were no servers available due to an event they were setting up for. While setting up, the staff were dragging the metal chairs across the floor making it very difficult to have a conversation. I approached the hostess and told her I have a condition called misophonia and the noises caused by dragging the chairs across the floor was causing me to have an anxiety attack. She was very dismissive of me any my condition and replied they would try to not drag the chairs. My reply was simple in that I've worked in the restaurant industry for many years and know it's quite simple to lift and set chairs in place. It's also common courtesy to not create a disturbance in an establishment while people are eating. During my conversation with the hostess she continued to approach me as I took multiple steps backwards to maintain social distance. When I told her to stop approaching me she acted incredulous as if my request to maintain a social distance with someone who was not wearing a mask was incredulous. The dragging of the chairs resumed immediately so we decided to leave. The bartender was sympathetic to our issue with the hostess and gave us our sangrias for free to go without discussion.

The staff here genuinely care about giving you the best dining experience. One of the managers, Ryan, remembered our order even after being out of town for a while. Our server constantly checked up on us, and the dishes were so tasty. The vibe is amazing as well and they allowed us to stay for 3 hours without complaining. Definitely must go!!!

We have eaten tapas in Barcelona, Spain, and the ones we have tasted in this suprising restaurant from downtown New Haven were as good. We loved our first meal so much that we returned the next day, to taste other tapas. The vast majority of them were excellent. It's a busy place, especially during the weekend, so make a reservation if you don't want to end up at the bar.

This place was packed on a Tuesday nite. I had four tapas - small plates. Although a small plate, the portions are generous. I could have easily shared my portions. The food was amazing. If you are in the area, this is a must!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service was perfect: amiable, informative and fun. Certainly one of the highlights of our trip to Connecticut. We started with the Jamon Serrano and manchego. Delightful combination that reminded us of European days. On the tapas side, we loved the boquerones the best (ordered a second serving because we just had to!). Highly recommend both the pulpo gallego and the bacon-wrapped dates. Wish we lived in New Haven so we could have the boquerones every week. For wine, recommend the Bodegas Lanzaga Rioja... ordered Riojas the whole rest of our trip! The LZ was the best.
