Birthday celebration at Prime 16 = excellent experience

Birthday celebration at Prime 16 on 4/6/2021 and the experience was awesome from the service to the food to the manager. The manager provided us with a free order of bread pudding for the birthday celebration and it was out of this world, melted in our mouths! My wife ordered the South Pacific bowl with grilled salmon, quinoa, chopped kale, shaved purple cabbage, grilled pineapple, smoked coconut, roasted cauliflower, hemp seeds, sweet & sour thai chili and cilantro. My son had the Honey Truffle burger with swiss cheese, applewood bacon, tobacco fried onions, butterleaf lettuce and herb tomato. And I had the Quinoa Crunch burger with Swiss cheese, avocado, tobacco fried onions, garlic aioli and butterleaf lettuce. The quinoa crunch burger was one of the best veggie burgers I have ever had. We also ordered dumplings as an appetizer, two orders of truffle fries, an IPA beer, a mojito, a glass of wine, a margarita and for the 21st birthday the manager ordered us the Boola Boola which contains espolon tequila, blue curacao, peach schnapps and lemon-lime. All total, the bill was $105 without tip. I rarely give out 5 star reviews but Prime 16 deserves it. The food was awesome... thanks for a great celebration!

Great Burgers & Brews

Great place for a burger and a brew. I stopped in for lunch recently and the service and food were great. I had the signature burger, it was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The beer selection was great, they had a large selection of craft and local brews.

Saturday afternoon Lunch

We stopped in for lunch on a saturday, there was no wait and we where seated right away. Lauren waited on us, she was very nice and helpful. She recommended a few items on menu and told us it was happy hour!!!! I had the Vermont chicken wrap, It was awesome, My wife had California salad which was good also. We had a great experience and food was very good.

IT ALL WENT BAD!!

I went to this eatery with my grandson as a result of his recommendation. Well, it might have been a positive previous experience but this one was indeed a nightmare. Not only for us but for at least one other diner. We arrived to a fairly crowded restaurant. We were seated near the entrance and caught the very cold breeze every time the door opened. We literally moved the table ourselves closer to another table. After a long wait we ordered drinks and waited another unacceptable period only to get the drinks delivered in dirty glasses as well as without the lemons we requested. I guess the washer was broken because the silverware was just as dirty! Our meals were ordered and yet a longer wait ensued. Not seeing our server, I called over the hostess,, who relayed that the kitchen was really busy! HMMM, aren't all kitchens busy in a crowded eatery? I explained it was unacceptable and that we should have been informed. When our meals finally arrived, again the disappointment continued. My chicken sandwich was poorly constructed very lopsided and very hard to handle. I had to move the onions, pickles, cabbage etc. until it was manageable. The taste was very good! During our meal, there was a confrontation between the manager and a patron who said they would never be back as she walked out. I wanted to speak to the manager as well, but on our way out, he was in another discussion with another unhappy diner! Talk about a bad day! The long and the short of this experience is this eatery needs a lot of help. Manager and serving staff exposure to patrons was dismal. Kitchen was in disarray and it showed. I will not be returning.

Delicious!

Everytime we are in the area we make sure to stop by! This is our third time here and it gets better each visit! I always order the classic burger and it is delicious. It is juicy and cooked exactly to order. The special sauce enhances the burger. It reminds me slightly of chick fila sauce! We ordered the Mac and cheese for the first time as an appetizer and it was great! It was crunchy on the top with breadcrumbs and soft and cheesy underneath. I highly recommend this place, you’ll have a great experience!

Great chef, atmosphere, and delicious food

One of the best experiences we’ve had as a family out in New Haven. We chose to stop at Prime 16 on our way to NYC from Boston. The food was extraordinary. We started with a pretzel. It was light, airy, and delicious. The pretzel was enormous, soft and airy and paired with beer cheese and mustard. It was plenty for all 3 of us to share. Then we chose to order burgers, my husband had the Boursin burger that was featured on the Food Network. The combination of brie, brioche bun, and stew on top of the burger was uniquely savory and remarkable. My 11 year old daughter loved her burger and truffle fries. She said they were both cooked to perfection. I had the New York burger, it was so good and tasty. Chef Joseph came out and asked us how we liked the food. We had a great conversation with him. He shared stories about his time in New York and trips to Europe with his son. He told us how he’s taken those experiences and brought them into the kitchen. You could tell how much he loved cooking and could taste it on the food. On our way out, he sent us home with some of the best cheesecake and a rainbow funfetti cake ever. We enjoyed the desserts and will definitely come back to this restaurant. If you haven’t tried this place and love a good burger this is the place for you.

Excellent Lunch Destination

We dined here recently after visiting a museum. A small place in downtown with a big menu. Awesome burgers and an extensive bar menu. Always stop here when in the area. Service was prompt and attentive.

Cold drinks, good food

We stopped in on a Friday night and there were only a handful of other tables taken. We felt comfortable with the safety measures in place due to the pandemic. Good beer selection, great burgers and good service.

Flavor bombs everywhere!

An absolute gem, the Belgium Bierhaus Burger was a flavor bomb and the nachos and truffle fries with the maple bacon bourbon dipping sauce is to die for!!

This place used to be good: it’s going down hill on the obvious way out

Lame. Lame. Super lame. do not. I said DO NOT a ring kids here, it’s not kid-friendly. They brought out used crayons and 3 coloring books for our 6 year old twins. The coloring books were compelling scribbled up by previous visitors. The boys wanted Mac-n- cheese. It was the same heavy garlic Mac and Cheese off the regular menu, just a smaller portion. The wings were boneless, essentially crappy chicken nuggets for adults. Y u k.

Juicy Burgers!

We walked on a night of a night market, so we worried we wouldn’t get a table. We were greeted warmly and seated right away in a raised booth near the bar. The burgers were juicy, and the staff accommodated my dietary needs.
