Sitting in this beautiful cafe, bistro watching the waves crash over the sea wall opposite was a perfect place to eat. The food is absolutely stunning, the Sunday roast is the best I've ever had, and I'm from Yorkshire. Its very clean and the owners could not be more welcoming if they tried. Just the right amount of interacting and banter. The decor is spot on. I really can't say anything bad about this place. If you visit the island and fancy anything from a coffee to a beer or a light snack to a3 course I would visit the Round Island Cafe

We visited the Cafe on a rainy day in Millport and the friendly service was just what we needed. When we walked in we saw amazing scones on the counter top which all four of us ordered along with lattes and tea. The drinks were great and the scones were to die for, amazing!! Will definitely return on our next visit to Millport.

Since buying our holiday flat in Millport 3 years ago we’ve been to the Round the Island Bistro with family and friends on numerous occasions.
Cindy and Tom the hosts always have a friendly welcome for their guests. Their food is freshly made on the premises and is always good quality. They provide super coffees and Tom always has some interesting beers to sample. Cindy makes her own scones which are fabulous with fresh cream and jam.
Next time your over the water to Millport Cumbrae call in at Round the Island

Whilst planning a trip to Cumbrae, I decided to look for somewhere to book for lunch for my partner, myself and three boys (16,14 and 10). I messaged the Round Island Cafe in Millport and a lovely lady got back to me saying, they didn't usually reserve tables, but would do her best to reserve us a table at the requested time. We ended up having to wait longer than expected to get the ferry, so I messaged her back saying we would be along as soon as we could but not to worry about holding a table. We would be happy to wait or come back. The lady then replied back saying if I messaged her when I got on the ferry she could let me know how busy the cafe was and do her best to accommodate us. I cannot remember the last time I was shown this level of customer service. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the cafe would certainly be busy all day but this lady was prepared to go the extra step and I really noticed. A table became available within five minutes of us arriving and the food was delicious. My partner and I shared the ploughman's deli board and it was amazing. The selection of meat, cheese and accomplishments offered was outstanding and the bread was so fresh. Next time we're back in Cumbrae I know exactly where I will be going for lunch and what I'll order. Thank you so much. We will be back xx

This cafe is beautiful with a great view too. The decor was fresh and bright. We had the scotch broth with crusty bread and it was delicious. The lady who provided table service was very welcoming and we would definitely return and recommend to others.

Staff friendly, lovely setting, great views.
Food was below average, we had the Sunday roast and for £17 and over a 40 min wait it was a big let down.
We were happy to wait as we were informed the Yorkshires go in fresh to order so we thought we would be in for a treat!!. But sadly not.
Bits of string still on beef, the beef had so many herbs around it it was overpowering. The baby boiled potatoes were lathered in herbs, again overpowering, the roast potatoes were not in my opinion roast potatoes, baby boilers 'roasted' could hardly get my fork into them no crisp to them and soggy.
Far too many vegetables, I counted 9 varieties, cut it back a bit and get the quality up in my opinion as the 2 straws of parsnips were the tastiest thing on the plate.
Cauliflower puree that is green and served in a wee ramekin on the plate why? Completely pointless.
We were given £10 off food, the other food that was going out looked great, overall we were very disappointed.

Thank you for your review and we’re sorry you were disappointed. We give everyone a booking time for the Sunday roast and as you arrived 30 mins early we were preparing for the table before you! Otherwise the wait would have been around eighteen minutes. I know you were very annoyed about this wait and anxious that your dog was restless! But you did arrive early and it was good fortune you could wait in the warmth as normally the tables are booked out. As for the food you could have explained you were not big vegetable eaters and we could have changed the proportions. The Sunday roast is extremely popular and has been over the years. We gave you a cost reduction which you didn’t ask for but we gave out of kindness!

Just had a delicious afternoon tea.....it is truly amazing and we'll worth a visit. I booked with Cindy on email and had some specific dietary requirements for my husband. She did not disappoint catering for us both. You get a beautiful selection of cakes, desserts, sandwiches and the biggest, most delicious fruit scone (you get to pick if you want fruit or plain). We had it washed down with tea and coffee, although you can have it with a gin cocktail t-pot.
You need to book a minimum of 24hrs in advance.
We will definitely be back - Thanks Cindy & Team

I had the pleasure of having lunch at the Round Island Cafe yesterday, during a visit to Millport with two family members. This small restaurant is beautifully laid out with sea views and an outside seating area. I think there is something on the menu for all tastes, and the food and wine were delicious!
The icing on the cake was the excellent service, and the wonderful welcome from the owners, who appear to genuinely care about their customers. We will be returning for dinner this evening!!

We stayed in Millport and quite lucky found this place. To call it a cafe doesn’t do it justice. First of all they stayed open for us to eat later,
We all opted for the Sunday Menu and wow we not disappointed, the food was not the usual Sunday meal, whilst it had many of the usual items the cauliflower purée was a great surprise and tasted delicious. From the perfectly cooked meat to the onion gravy it was so great. We finished off with various sweets and again these were fantastic. I would say if you are not there on a Sunday it’s still worth a visit the menu looks great and so did the other food coming out of the kitchen.

We found the Round Island Cafe to be a lovely restaurant with lots of character. We choose a burger which was excellently presented and fillet steak which my husband says was cooked to perfection. Staff were helpful and attentive. Thank you very much.

Visited last night with friends. We are staying in a holiday flat very close by for the weekend. This wee place has a lovely vibe. Individual booths decorated with chic lighting and fresh flowers on table. Weather was appalling but in good weather the windows all open wide and there is outside sunny seating facing the face.
Two of us ordered sea bass and I had baked cod. The huge piece of meaty cod came with prawns, mussels, veg and a divine white wine sauce. It was the most tasty thing I’ve eaten in a long time. Waiting staff were lovely. Family-owned I feel. When we complimented the food our young waitress said that her chef was her sister!
I’d highly recommend a visit.

Last minute decision to book a table and very glad we did. We were welcomed by waitress Marta who was very friendly and showed us to a spacious booth with views out onto the shore. The menu had an excellent choice especially for such a small island and we could choose from either day or night selections. Husband had the cullen skink starter which was tasty and full of fish. I had pate and oatcakes, again delicious. Main course was spaghetti pescatora, again delicious. We rounded it off with the apple crumble and raspberry cheesecake. Oh and they blend their own merlot, a very nice wine. Good luck Tom and Cindy, you deserve every success.

Popped in for lunch during a day trip. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had our 2.5 yr old daughter with us - it’s little things like serving her drink in a small plastic cup and making a wee smiley ‘tomato sauce’ face on her plate that make a big difference and a good experience. Her food was well cooked, husband and I had hot drinks / cakes which were good.
Cafe and toilet clean
We had a lovely day on the island and would definitely recommend the Round Island Cafe

Very nice, booked earlier in the day, our table was ready when we arrived. Starters: spicy king prawns, panko calamari, mains: Thai fish cakes, spaghetti alla pescatora, duffs: apple creme brulee and a cheese boards. Lovely food, my spaghetti and cheeseboard were outstanding, very attentive and friendly staff and we felt that everything was just delicious. Thank you for a lovely meal.
