Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband was hungry for Chicken Fried Steak. We did not feel like "going out" to breakfast so we placed an order over the phone and he went to pick it up. We're not far from The Lazy Bear - so when he got home the breakfast was still piping hot. I ordered a sausage croissant breakfast sandwich and hashbrowns. We both loved our dishes and mine lasted 2 meals, it is huge. Thanks Lazy Bear. We'll order again!

You can forget any negative reviews. This is a great place for breakfast. Your coffee cup is refilled. The menu is quite varied. The food is tasty and the service friendly. Our choices of eggs Benedict and veggie skillet were perfect. Both have 2 eggs. Downtown is just a little off I-70 and well worth skipping McDonalds to enjoy a relaxing sit-down breakfast.

I guess dinner is a recently added service for this restaurant. It could use some improvement. Good thing first, the server, an older gentleman, was very nice. The food...not so great. We had a group of 6 adults and 2 children. I ordered a pasta with chicken. The chicken pieces were practically minced. They were about the size of dimes, really tough and almost like dried meat...The Rueben's had good flavor but all three of our group that tried it said the rye bread was so over-toasted that it hurt the roof of their mouth's. There were not a lot of options in town and the restaurant across the street was not family friendly (no kids menu) so we took a gamble on The lazy Bear. I hope things improve as a family restaurant for dinner would be a great addition to the town.

We saw the good reviews and jumped right in to try this place! Maybe they are under new management, because we were completely underwhelmed by the experience. The actually facility is a little worn but in that shabby Colorado chic way that makes it tolerable if the food and service are up to par. Well, neither were up to par. The service was friendly enough but slowwww. The food was very bland both in flavor and in presentation. We’ll take a pass next time.

Lovely cafe with great service and even better food! Joel served us smothered pork tamales for breakfast and they were delicious. The food was piping hot and tasty. Worth getting off of I-70 in New Castle to experience this excellent Cafe!

Went in for breakfast. Service: The waitress we had was sweet, thoughtful, and very aware of our little grabby one year old. Her service was excellent. The atmosphere: The diner was clean and very cozy. Very homestyle. The food: We all ordered the biscuits and gravy ($9 a plate!). The gravy was mediocre, the biscuits were kind of good, I am not sure the grainy texture was on purpose, but I liked it. Hasbrowns and eggs were good. There was a small garnish of cantaloupe that I bit into that was totally rotten. For 9 bucks a plate I don't feel it was worth it. The experience: all in all it was pleasant and even though I wasn't very pleased with the food. It was a very warm and welcoming place and I would go back and try something else.

Great place. I had the breakfast enchiladas with eggs. Not a combination I would have thought of, but it was really good. Highly recommended when you're in Newcastle!

Located in the quaint "old town" area, this is a super clean restaurant and the service was excellent. There is plenty of variation on the breakfast menu and the coffee was superb, rivaling that of the most popular coffee chain. The food was hot, tasty and plentiful and very well presented. The hash browns were freshly threaded, the eggs cooked just right and the bacon high quality. Only one small suggestion ... if you are going to garnish with fruit, it should be edible ... the cantaloupe was rock hard. Glad to have discovered this place, as it is just halfway between Montrose and Denver, so we will be back.

This is always a great go to for breakfast or brunch. The food is always great and the service is very friendly. I highly recommend if you are in the area for breakfast or lunch. I think the omelets are fabulous, others dining with me love the green chili steak skillet.

The food here is incredible. Our waitress was the only one working, but she took care of our 10 person group, and the other patrons, like an absolute champ! Prices are fair, I got the gyro and it was the best gyro I've ever had, other than at an authentic Greek place. Definitely eat here!!
