Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The owner Steve is a pompous jerk! We arrived early for our 8 pm dinner reservation and checked to see by chance if our table was ready. It wasn’t but then Steve went off on us talking about having a contractual obligation at our specified...reservation time. After that outburst, we canceled our reservation. Will not ever go back.More

Disappointed. I have eaten here 3-4 times a year and this was by far the worst meal I have ever had there. Had the sea bass. I’ve had it several times before and it was delicious. This sea bass looked like a skinny piece of...tilapia. The vegetables seemed like they were cooked and had sat. They have raised their prices to rival Manhattan. I’ve been coming here for more than 25 years but I won’t be going again. 2 stars because the service was good.More

My daughter and I had a lovely night out with 'Curtis' as wait staff. He was charming and quite knowledgeable. We both have gluten issues and Curtis pointed out a number of options. Selecting an entree was difficult.

We always go to the Winery for my birthday. My husband and I both had the Filet Mignon, which costs $55 for each entree. The waiter brought two dinner rolls. The rolls were pretty good. The waiter offered to bring us one more roll, which...he said we could split. The breadbasket used to be four different types of bread. Both our Filets were burned on the outside and overcooked on the inside. They brought a small tray of sides for my husband's baked potato. The sides were a tablespoon each of cheese, sour cream, salsa, and butter. They charged us an extra $2 for the sides. We used to order off the dessert menu for the free birthday dessert. Instead, they brought out a small chocolate cake with a warm filling, topped with a scoop of ice cream and Reddi whip. My husband and I split it. I understand there is high inflation, and it is hard for a restaurant to remain profitable. But with charging $55 for each entree, isn't there some wiggle room for profit? Do they need to skimp on the bread, charge extra for sides, and give me a cheap dessert? We stilled tipped the waiter good, because we figured the waiter is not responsible for management mistakes.More

We were beyond pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at the Winery. This was only to be outdone by the level of service provided by our waiter. Excellent job Steven!

The last time we paid this much for a nice dinner we left thinking “damn that was an awesome dinner” Last night we left so disappointed and we suddenly remembered why we haven’t been to the winery is over a decade. We felt the same...way then, must’ve forgotten. There’s better places in town to eat if you want to spend $300 on a meal. We do enjoy the atmosphere but the food and drinks are so average and they just charge too much. My husband got the ribeye and it had absolutely no marbling. So I don’t think it was a prime cut of meat at all. I think I prefer outback’s chicken compared to theirs. That’s unfortunate. Their bread is awful. Like so bad. We did enjoy the salmon appetizer. But like I said, when you pay $300 for a meal you should leave feeling like it was well worthit. Not even close 😒 we probably won’t come back here for dinner again.More

The waiter was annoying. Was checking on us every 5 minutes. We would be in conversation with friends that we have not seen in a while, and the waiter was always interrupting our conversations. The Winery is the best resturant in GJ. The steaks and seafood are always cooked to perfection. Scallop apps are seared and wrapped in bacon, of course to perfection as well. Excellent selection of wines and top shelf liquor and bar staff can make any...specialty drink requested! Seating outside or inside, all very comfortable. You can reserve a table if you want privacy or quite or for however many ppl. They always do their best to accomodate. Suggest you make a reservation for Friday's and Saturday's, they book very quickly. Monday and Tuesday we generally just walk in without a reservation. Wait staff and manager are always checking in on you, ensuring food and beverages meet expectations. You will be pleasantly please with everyone who works at this resturant, they strive to make your experience one to remember and enjoy. Lastly, you must try some dessert!More

Disappointing. Staff were excellent - just a pity that the food did not reflect that. We had a party of six; two of us ordered the lamb chops, medium rare. Both our orders came to the table well done; dry is a better description. My...wife's scallop dish was OK, the steaks two of our party ordered were OK; but this is not a "cheap and cheerful" restaurant, it is one of the higher priced establishments in Grand Junction. We did not address any issues with our server; we all wanted to celebrate a birthday by eating together, NOT some of us whilst the other dinners were being redone...More

Best food in Grand Junction! We visited again, for our 29th anniversary. The prices are in line with other high end eateries in the area with a more varied menu than most. Very nice waitstaff, servers etc. The atmosphere is old school but very attractive....Extensive wine, cocktail and dessert menu. Excellent choice!More

Went here with close college friends for dinner the other night. It was excellent. I had the steak and shrimp with "the winery" mashed potatoes - potatoes, shallots, beef broth and Dijon mustard. My wife had the tempura shrimp with au gratin potatoes. We split...the Caesar salad and the butterscotch cannolis for dessert. The atmosphere was excellent as well as the food and service. The flavor of every was perfect. This is definitely fine dining at its best.More

We went to celebrate our anniversary. Service was excellent. The wait staff continually kept my water glass and the husbands ice tea glass full. I actually was very impressed with this as so many restaurants don't train their staff in that particular area. I had...the lamb chops. Excellent meal. Husband had the special which was salmon. Unfortunately, his salmon had a very strong fishy smell. Rather than send it back, the husband ate it. Needless to say, he had stomach distress all night. In retrospect, he should not have ordered the special. If you want excellent service, then definitely go. Be aware that the price tag is very high end. For 2 people, you will spend more than $100 without drinks.More

Sat at the bar with a friend on a Friday, very nice couple next to us, and a very odd man alone at the booth nearest the bar. The man kept getting up from his table and pacing around. At one point the pacing man...said something to the couple in which they asked him to please not speak to them. He loudly took calls and continued to stand and pace directly behind us. Once the man left he complained of our language, which he wouldn’t have heard had he sat at his table. In which I was then confronted by the owner. I was. He was free to harass patrons, but I couldn’t have a private conversation. The owner had arms and voice raised when he confronted me. Very unsettling and humiliating!More

It was time to try The Winery again. I've been there three times over the last ten years. Each time I go back I remember why I don't go there very much anymore. There were seven adults for a holiday party this time. The food...was not particularly good and we all had different items. Even the cocktails were bland. The food was dry, pretty much flavorless and small portions, especially for the price. We sat around and talked about the local places we've eaten the last year and how much better those meals were. The wait staff was the only thing on point. I noticed the manager visited each table to check in with the patrons. He only visited our group to tell us to put our one phone down and to talk to us and treat us like children over the phone. We had just got back from Antarctica where I danced and I wanted to show my dancing to everyone. If they don't want phones in the restaurant then they need to post it around the restaurant and say something when you reserve a table. Though he stood there and watched for a good 30 seconds as well before he said anything. Yet the table next to us a guy in his tank top had dinner, but they didn't say anything to him about his extremely underdressed attire based upon how the dress code typically is there.More

Evening, nice, upper end. With that being said, Grand Junction being so laid back; you will see an occasional nice pair of blue jeans with a dress shirt. No shorts or t shirts or flip flops in the Winery.
