Friday evening in Mt Eden and wanting Indian food, we found reviews online that suggested Namaste. It didn’t disappoint. Small eatery, seating is a bit tight for larger Polynesian couples but we managed to squeeze two tables together which was accommodated. Drinks menu selection great...and menu had everything you wanted, no photos though inside the menu was tricky for us who weren’t too sure about what we were ordering but we took a risk and the food given was delightful (however, we weren’t asked how hot/spicy we wanted) and so I personally had to fight back a few tears for the spice burn (I’m a sook with spicy food), but it didn’t stop me by the help of Mango lassies, so I suggest you tell the waiters what spice level you’d like. Portion size awesome, sauces complimented everything, and mango lassies divine. Service was a tad slow but it gave us time to digest the mixed platter for two, toss back a few beers to enjoy the mains; Chicken Masala and the Namaste special (I totally recommend). Prices reasonable and affordable, we spent $95 on all we had that included drinks. Cheapest Friday night out for us in years! Ticked all boxes for us, thanks Namaste for an enjoyable evening 10/10.More

A menu with loads of dishes we didn't know, and the food was absolutely delicious, really enjoyed it. Great service, very attentive and friendly. Reasonably priced too, we will definitely be coming back here for curry.

We booked the restaurant through First Table, in the view of finding a new Indian restaurant to try as our local one has closed down. The food was alright but the service left us feeling angry and disappointed: 1. When we arrived we said hello...and that we had a 5pm reservation, there was no welcome and we were just told to take a seat. 2. At the table, only the drinks menu was available - the waiter came and asked us if we would like drinks, and only brought the food menus after the drinks had been brought to the table. 3. We ordered a starter each and a main each with rice and naan, the starters arrived (these were good, but had they been full price would have been quite pricey) and 2 minutes later the mains also arrived. We had ordered starters to have first, not all together with the meal. The waiter then came over and asked us what he should do as there was no room for the main plates on the table. I told him that i wasn't sure as i didnt expect the starters and mains to both come out together (we were the only people that had ordered at this point so it wasnt like the kitchen was super busy and there had been a mix up.) At this point another waiter comes over and asks if he can take our (still half full) starter plates away to make room. At this point i said okay but, we should have had the starters first and then the mains, to which he replies "yeah well we just cooked them all together" no apology was offered for the fact that both of our curries were sitting going cold in the middle of the table because we were still eating starters. 4. At this point my boyfriend and I are both feeling pretty irritated, we have both worked in the hospitality industry and understand that things do go wrong, but we would expect an apology for the mistake at the very least. 5. Because of how annoyed and disappointed we felt we asked if we could take the rest of our, now not particularly hot, food home. The waiter takes it into the back to box up and comes back with 2 curries in one box (one in each half) absolutely no way that all the curry paid for fitted in there, which i pointed out to the waiter, who was less than interested. 6. I paid the bill feeling ripped off, hungry and disappointed at the service we received. We will not be returning and will be recommending to friends, family and other backpackers to spend their hard earned cash elsewhere.More

Having changed hands 3 months ago, this place rocks. The food was wonderful, authentic and delightfully presented. A credit to the new owner and chef. Well done I’ll be back.

For a quick, good and inexpensive Indian meal one can't beat Namaste Bar and restaurant. Unfortunately the kitchen caught fire and now the restaurant is closed for renovation. I hope it will reopen soon

Located in Mt Eden village shops, this cute little restaurant seemed like a lovely little place to have a meal. They offer a few vegan options, so all good there. And I have to say the food was actually nice. However.... Enter Jaws music....DaDa, DaDa,...DaDaDaDa Having almost finished my meal, I went to the bathroom out the back of the restaurant.... And OH MY GOSH !!! If we had not already been most of the way through our meals, we would have left, immediately. The bathroom was in such a state that if the health department had visited they would have shut the restaurant down IMMEDIATELY! I'm not talking about just being a little bit messy or hadnt been cleaned for a day or two. I'm talking about caked on grime and absolute filth; all over the floor, over the toilet bowl and seat, all around the sink, and around the taps. I DID NOT WASH MY HANDS, because I would rather take my chances with my own bacteria than touch your taps! Shame on you Namaste. You ruined a good meal with your complete lack of hygiene. I HATE to think what goes on in your kitchen if this is how your bathroom looks. I would not recommend, and we would not go back. Ive not dined in as yet but had take aways on a number of occasions. The food has been of good quality and value and the staff are friendly. Probably the best Indian restaurant in Mount Eden Village.

This little restaurant serves great indian food at a very reasonable price and the service is extremely good. The lunchtime special is exceptional value including as it does soft drinks, nan bread and poppadom, as well as any main dish from the menu. Aside from...the deal ($10.00) the food really is good and we are long-time fans and samplers of Indian food. I would cross Auckland to come here and recommend it without reservation.More

I came here when visiting Auckland and I have to say it was one of the best curries I have ever had! The food was very tasty and the portion sizes were very good. You could see that they had put their own twist on...traditional favourites like onion bhaji and samosas. The service was also really good. One of the waitresses had called in sick so our waitress was alone to deal with all the tables, phone calls and takeaway orders. I could see she was really busy but her service was still very good. Highly recommend!More

Myself and my friend were in the mood for tasty food and we definitley picked the right place. I go by this restaurant a lot and even though it is not always busy it really should be! We were seated immediately and had a great...choice of food on the menu. It has a great $9.99 mains curry and rice option which worked out brilliantly as myself and my friend picked chicken masala and chicken tikka with yummy garlic naan bread(extra). The bill was easily divided at the end of the meal which I love as some restaurants don't like to divide between people. Friendly and quick service for a meal. They even divided the leftovers (food was so filling we couldn't finish it all ) between me and my friend without a problem for lunch the next day. Would highly recommend and will be back soon!More

I took my son here as a treat, We ordered an entrée & a main, accompanied with naan rice & a drink. The portions were generous and we struggled to finish it. The food was very nice and would definitely return with the whole family....I was booked in for 5pm but was running late, they were fine with this.More
