Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Right on the corner a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean you'll find this great caribbean restaurant in Santa Monica. I've been here a few times as well as a location in the Valley (not sure if that's still open.) You order at the window/counter...and then get a number. They bring your food out to you. Great selection of authentic tasting food. I've had the jerk chicken before and liked it. This time I got the Ricky wrap. Also some plantains. My memory of the entrees is that they load you up with food. The wrap was no different it was huge. Filled with all kids of tasty fresh ingredients. I was here with two friends and our bill was about $70. So the prices are reasonable. Street parking can be tricky. Definitely worth a visit.More

This is a fantastic place to eat, I’d would have ordered everything on the menu but we had a flight to catch. Combo was awesome and the Negir Salmon is a great option for the pescatarian in the family.

We loved eating in the open air dining room, feasting on delicious Caribbean food in such a unique spot. Highly recommend walking up here from the beach, for lunch, if you're at Santa Monica!

Lovely place. On street corner a short walk from the beach. Passed it as we walked to the beach and decided to drop in for lunch. Very casual, chilled out atmosphere. Food was fantastic. Really flavoursome. Staff are efficient and welcoming. Food was cooked quickly....It does have a restroom although we didn’t use it. Would come here again. Banana milk shake is fab ;D.More

Cha Cha Chicken is local, fresh, affordable, and delicious. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat walking distance from Santa Monica Beach and the Pier, check out Cha Cha Chicken. They are a semi indoor restaurant, with plenty of seating on two...covered patios. I was there by myself, but everything on the menu looked amazing, and I wanted to try it all. I ordered the 1/2 Cha Cha Chicken, mixed, served with plantains, dirty rice & beans; a carne asada empanada; and the awesome chicken croquettes, served with a mildly spicy red sauce. The chicken was fall off the bone tender, the jerk sauce was perfection mixed with the rice & beans. My only regret is that I only have one stomach, next time I will try their highly recommended enchiladas, ropa vieja, or chicken tortilla soup. The weekend only brunch menu also had so many things I would love to try. The staff was very friendly, and the service was fast and efficient. Parking is limited, there is no lot, and limited metered parking. Walk from your beach parking if you can. Thank you Cha Cha Chicken, see you next time!More

Happened to come upon Cha Cha just a short walk from Loews Santa Monica and glad I did. Very very casual but fun. You place your order at a window and then find a table. There are two areas to sit in. The service great....Genuinely friendly, helpful, competent staff. Attitude appreciated. Ordered the Spinach Quesadilla with chicken. Really delicious with sauces to go with it. No alcohol but I overheard you can bring your own. Might want to double check. Reasonable price and enjoyed it.More

Laidback Caribbean joint with outdoor dining area and byob policy. They’re open for dine-in as well as takeout during coronavirus. You can use the “Order for Me” app to get 15% off your first order (the pick up window is right next to the order...line and the food was ready in less than 20 minutes). It’s still byob if you dine in. Some of the tables are blocked off for social distancing and masks are required. The parking lot to the side is for employees only, but there’s metered street parking available ($2/hour). No free parking and it’s pretty busy so just park in the first spot you see (or walk!). We chose the cha cha chicken half chicken that was marinated in mix sauce, and it wasn’t spicy. I would order the hot one instead next time. It comes with your choice of two sides, but black beans & rice and plantains are the way to go. For the coconut fried chicken, the pieces were on the smaller side but the coconut chicken batter was crispy and had a robust coconut flavor. The spicy fries were cut potato rounds and weren’t spicy, but they’re good dipped into the jerk sauce. They do take credit card and currently bathrooms aren’t available. Overall the atmosphere is laid back and a good place to vibe by the beach. Bring your own liquor since the closest one is on Main St (~0.4 miles away) and you definitely want to eat your food while it’s fresh out of the kitchen!More

I walked past several times and eventually found an evening to drop in solo. It’s a rough n tough kind of place and looks like a caravan diner that’s evolved into a larger establishment. Not at all refined but fit for purpose. You line up...and Order through a window and then they find you at your table that you select. It was inconvenient as you had to go back to refill your drink, so if you’re alone, you have to leave your table and I was in another section of the restaurant so I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my half finished meal unattended and had to take my bag and phone etc. to get a refill. The main guy in the window is so good at his job, he reminded me of a movie star without a job. He sort of sets up expectations maybe a tad too high. Made you feel good but ... The food was reasonable and prices OK. Best to go with a group. Its undercover, but outside dinning, so prepare fir the temperature.More
