This restaurant is in a beautiful location & did provide excellent, warm gluten free bread as part of its artisan bread basket, which is appreciated. My lobster spaghetti was excellent with lots of lobster. BUT…. the menu is, at best pretentious. Meat/fish is offered purely seasoned & grilled with no sauce or accompaniments. You need to add accompaniments of salad or vegetables - no potatoes were offered as an option. The feeling is this restaurant was too high brow to offer French fries, mash or even dauphinois. The vast expense is not justified by the location.

Nice setting and good service but not good food. I ordered the halibut, broccolini and salad. The salad was good but the fish was lukewarm and had a strange consistency. It made me wonder if it had previously been frozen. The vegetable was also lukewarm. I can’t recommend the restaurant based on setting alone. And it was pricey for what is was

I would go back. We are locals and there are few view really nice restaurants for lunch or dinner with an ocean view in Santa Monica, unless you belong to one of private beach clubs. We split a burger and a salad and each had two glasses of Prosecco. Guess how much ??? But that is the world we are all in. Being in a premium hotel means excellent service. The live music was nice at lunch/brunch. (Why isn’t there there more live nice music when dining in LA?)

Lovely evening with good food and wine. While not stated on the menu the mains (entrees) are made to be shared: they are huge! We enjoyed the NewYork Strip, it was cooked to perfection and was delicious. Great wine list. Very busy Saturday night, but the staff were on the ball and service was good. Note: We were staying at the hotel, but made the mistake of booking a table through Open Table, which meant that even though we’d booked several weeks ago we got offered what can only be described as ‘second-rate’ table. Fortunately, the hostess was able to better accommodate us when we mentioned this.

The experience and food for our holiday dinner was excellent. Perfect even. Was worried… needlessly. Sat us at good table with space and view. Menu had something for everyone. Food absolutely delicious. Service great; competent and with humor. Expensive and can say, was worth it. Thank you to all!

If you are trying to maintain your heart health, avoid! This restaurant has NO calorie information available. When the waitress was asked the kitchen staff, they could not produce it. A manger didn't come and check to offer suggestions. So then it makes you wonder if the staff is knowledgeable about the product they are serving. Very disappointed when the view is very nice.

Everything is great here! Not only the wines (which we could try before we ordered a glass), also the waiters make your visit worth while and the food and view of course!

I know it is Shutters and I know it is a table on the beach so I expected the prices to reflect this. The food is OK, it is the kind of food you'd expect at the Hilton hotel or the Loews down the road. I suppose i was just expecting something a little better. The bill for brunch for 2 came to almost $140, it was OK but it was Meh OK not Wow OK.

We dined there in late October when they were serving outside in the former porte cochere area. It actually was quite romantic and delightful how they have converted this area into a dining area during the latter covid months of 2021. We didn't regret the least that inside dining wasn't available. We were seated right away (we did have advance reservations and were staying at Shutters. Jonathan was our server throughout and was great at helping us with choices and finding more Prisoner to enjoy by the glass (we were told earlier that they had run out, but thanks to Jonathan, he found a bottle to use). The outside weather was ideal for dining this evening. We were not rushed and felt well taken care of. It didn't hurt that all our dining options were excellent. My wife ordered the Jidori Half Chicken with sides of corn salad and sauteed greens. I had the King Salmon and shared a huge side order of Blue Prawns. We finished with a great dessert of Cannoli Burrata. It was actually four of them on a platter. Staying at Shutters and dining there can put a dent in your wallet. However, it was a special trip for us and one must expect to pay for it as long as you get your money's worth (which we did). If you're looking for a special romantic outdoor dining experience, this is the place to go.

1 Pico is a beautiful place to eat. Fittings/decor are stylish and chic and tables have a great view across the beach to the Santa Monica Pier. Service was helpful, but not overly engaging. Menu was not so interesting or diverse, but the food was of a good quality and enjoyable. We stayed at Casa del Mar and preferred 1 Pico to the restaurants at that hotel (next door).

Had Dinner here on a Saturday night. Very busy. They have a large outdoor seating area as well as a very nice indoor seating area. From the moment we sat down, the service was fantastic. The hostess was very friendly and accommadating. Our waiter, Tim, was incredibly attentive. Did not rush us, and made several excellent suggestions. The pumpkin soup was superb as was the snap pea salad. My Cap ribeye with mushrooms was incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection. The rest of our party had lobster and spaghetti which was superb and Scallops that were to die for. The caramel corn brownie Sundae was also fantastic. Very good wine selection and a great dirty martini. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent meal. Great Service. Great ambiance. I read somewhere that the architect of Shutters & One Pico was striving to emulate the beachfront home on steroids of a wealthy aunt. He succeeded. It's charming and the service is first rate.

Very nice sitting outside for dinner watching the world go by. As it started getting colder we asked that they light the gas heater. They said they had to find someone to replace the tank. As it got later and we finished our dinner they finally came to tell us the heater was broken. It was too cool to stay for desert so we left somewhat disappointed. Dinner was very good but the mood was spoiled.

We were seated in the outdoor courtyard which is beautifully decorated with a tree in the middle that is lit up. The tables are nicely spaced, the atmosphere is very relaxed and beautiful and adjacent to the ocean. We heard that the wait staff are all level 2 sommeliers. Our server was knowledgeable and gave us the right amount of time in between ordering and receiving our food. The food was absolutely delicious as were our drinks! I highly recommend this place for a lovely dining experience!

Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
