Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We met friends here for a total group of 6. Our server, Kendra, did a great job of taking care of us, making sure all orders were accurate and came out together. The menu is interesting and creative using quality items for freshness and flavor....Since this is in Old Placerville the building walls are brick, so you get an authentic period feel ( Gold Rush) , nicely decorated , but it can get a little noisy. This is a nice restaurant and operated by local community members, so we like to support it.More

Well, they were open later as the town seems to close up after 5. It's right there in the Center of town, so easily walkable to-able (LOL). It's expensive and although decent to eat (fills your tummy) it wasn't really anything to write home about....But really, decent enough. Oh, BUT...Expensive.More

A very nice looking restaurant in a great central location in the downtown area. Staff is very helpful and well trained. The food is very marginal if "mexican" was the flavors you were going for. Think more like the Denny's chain of diner food if...they had a Mexican food selection. The pricing and quanity for what you get is a bit absurd. A draft beer: $7.50 ....but it only comes in a 14oz glass not your typical 16oz. Come on, man! The food is priced that way as well: "a plate for two" - is really only enough food for one. Come on, man! Let's not dwell on the negative though. The place is clean and they have a very nice bar to belly up to. However, watch the bartender - he likes a drink to be overflowing with ice to maximize the short pour! With all this said I'll probably still go back one day. I heard their Quesadilla deluxe is quite good.More

We tucked in this friendly cantina or dinner on n a hot Wednesday night. Every employee was cheerful, ready to help—filling waters, bringing our dishes, checking on our food and clearing plates. I ordered the shrimp in a chipotle cream sauce, with a cilantro rice...and a nice selection of sauteed fresh summer squashes. The chicken enchiladas were more typical with a mild green sauce, served with the cilantro rice , black beans and avocados. If you’re in the mood for Mexican in Placerville, this is a fine spot.More

My hubby & I took his 99-1/2 year old mother & his sister here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon . Everything was great. This was our first time here. We were seated at a window table which was nice. They immediately gave us a good...amount of tortilla chips, salsa & a lovely cheesy bean dip. Our drink orders were taken promptly too. I ordered the carnitas dinner which was juicy & cooked to perfection. I substituted the whole black beans with refried beans. My sister-in-law had the chili verde and loved it. My mother-in-law had the carnitas tostada meal which was enormous & delicious. My hubby opted for the Negro Y Azul, which is a huge salad of mixed greens, red onion, crumbled blue cheese & a balsamic vinaigrette topped with large slices of tender marinated grilled flat iron steak. The steak was juicy and plentiful. We all loved our meals and we each took home at least half of them cause they were huge! Our server was very good. He was attentive without being intrusive. The photos are of my carnitas & my hubby’s negro & azul salad. Would I come back here or recommend it to others? You bet! It is not cheap but for the size & quality of the food, I’d say it’s well worth it.More

Used to love it here. Went for my 67 birthday with family. It was horrible! We picked it because we have always loved the food. Not just one meal was bad, every single meal was terrible. We had enchiladas in which the cheese was coagulated...and the sauce dried and burnt around the edges. Beans & rice were crunchy on top. Grandkids had the quesadillas and the tortillas were dried out and curled at the edges. Like the food had been sitting a long time before being served. And after ordering we waited for over 30 min to be served. Overall a disappointment and don’t think we will be going back or recommending to anyone. Such a letdown!!!More

Great food, good service and a view onto Main Street in an old Gold Rush Town! Mexican and American, a little pricey but it is a tourist town. I enjoyed the Vegetarian Burrito, black beans and Cilantro rice. with left overs for dinner.

We were looking for a place to eat after our whitewater rafting experience in Coloma and we stumbled upon this place. The food was great and had dishes that you don't find in your run of the mill Mexican restaurants. There were 8 of us...and we all enjoyed our drinks, meals and the servcie was great. Highly recommend it if you are in the area. We were driving back from Caloma to South Lake Tahoe and it was nearly right on our way.More

am so disappointed. This restaurant was rated number three out of 88 in placerville. The hostess seated us with chips and salsa. After that it was 15 minutes before a server came to take our order. Not our server took our order. When the server...brought our drinks she put them in the wrong place because she hadn't taken the order. When the server brought our food. She put the taco salad in the middle of the table and asked if we needed extra plates again because she hadn't taken the order. I only mentioned these trivial things because they compound the other issues I'm about to highlight. I ordered a bloody Mary, and a beer with the meal. Both drinks came out together. The bloody Mary was less than satisfactory. Bothered mix, a light poor, and basically no garnish. A lemon wedge and an onion. My idea of a bloody Mary is breakfast in a glass. On to the food. My wife ordered the taco salad with steak. I ordered a carnitas burrito. My wife's salad appeared as if it had been made the day before. The guacamole was brown and tasteless. The steak was tough and a light brown refried bean substance was poured over the salad. As for the carnitas in my burrito, it was greasy and tasteless. No seasoning or crispy edges to the roast, and again that brown unseasoned Bean substance. Brown guacamole and runny sour cream on top. The highlight of the whole event the draft beer. The IP I ordered was cold and delicious. Again I say I'm very disappointed $45 plus a tip and I will never visit this restaurant again. If the reviews on TripAdvisor consider this restaurant to be number three out of 88 in placerville I'll never trust TripAdvisor again either. Please all the dining placerville beware of this establishment I give them a strong thumbs down.More

On a Monday, after spending the day on the river, we were ready for a nice dinner. However, not many places in town are open on Mondays. Cascada was, and are we glad. We ordered Margaritas to start, and they brought us a trio of...salsas, and chips, that were very tasty. We then each ordered a salad and Bistec Buenos Aires. All I can say is that they were excellent, and priced very fairly for Prime. The veggies and the steak fries that accompanied the dish were also excellent. Kim was our server, and she was also outstanding, especially with respect to the wine service. Not once we had to pour ourselves wine. Looking forward to coming back next year.More

I don't usually write this type of review, I just chock it up to a bad day by all and move on but today I was completely blown away by the way I was treated. We went to Cascada in Placerville for lunch, sat at...the bar, and requested our drinks. I prefer my margarita to be on the rocks with salt and asked twice for that even though the bartender said this particular margarita that he wanted to make me was usually served up. I was given it his way, not what I requested. I decided to not say anything. When I was nearly done I asked for another one, but to please make it on the rocks with salt. After 10+ minutes I still had not been served another drink and the bartender, while he had said twice that my drink would be right there, still had not made it. I then asked him, as he was pouring a beer for another person, "where is MY drink?" to which he responded...."you are not my only customer and I'll have your drink shortly". First of all, there were only 3 of us at the bar, a couple of tables who had a waitress and secondly, after 10+ minutes I think I had the right to ask where my drink was without a snarky answer. Needless to say we paid for the two drinks we had drank, canceled our lunch request and left. I live in Placerville and have frequented Cascada many times and never have I been treated in this manner. Needless to say I don't think I'll be back unless that bartender is not working at the time as I don't appreciate being talked to in such a manner. I get it that I'm not the only customer, nor do I ever act like I am, but to be told that when I had patiently waited 10+ minutes really upset me. I've worked in the hospitality and food service industry and would never say something like that to a customer. If I was so busy my service was going to be slow I would let them know, but never say "you're not my only customer". Maybe more training is needed?More

Whenever I'm on my way to Tahoe or heading back home to the Sacramento area, I always try to stop by Cascada in Placerville. The menu is extensive with delicious Mexican cuisine that you won't find elsewhere. The drinks are amazing, too! We've always had...excellent service to go along with an exceptional meal. If you find yourself hungry on the way to Tahoe, do yourself a favor & hit Cascada. You won't be disappointed.More

Unfortunately yes. While we were having dinner, a couple brought in a rather large dog. Was not an issue for the staff, although I was not crazy about him sniffing around.
