Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After 90 minutes in a 7km trip on SH1 month we were hot and tired and hungry. The Muddy Eaters was busy, the 3 of us found a table and ordered. The Salmon skillet with cooked root vegies and 2 great deep fried Kumera patties...was delicious and a visual pleasure. The entree Salt and pepper squid was plentiful and darn yummy. The Meat lovers pizza was covered in said meat with BBQ sauce and was superb. This will be a stable location when we travel out of Auckland either north or south.More

Two sides; bar area & restaurant area. The restaurant area is a bit empty & tired looking, no real ambiance but it could be great with a bit of work as the whole building is an amazing big wooden cabin. The food was very nice,...having come from the uk we felt like we’d struggled through NZ to find any healthy food but we got good veg portions here! And nice size portions in general. The only disappointment was the lack of veg in the children’s menu. Service was good, efficient & polite.More

I would rate Muddy Waters as 4.5. The only negative is the surroundings the food we had was great. We both had Scotch Fillet (rare and med rare) both were cooked to perfection. The veges were whole baby carrots and beans which were cooked to...perfection as well. Highly recommendMore

Amazing Fish and chips for lunch It's a large meal at a good price. And it was fresh snapper. Service is very quick which I'd great if you are after a quick stop on the way through to Auckland. Have always had a quick bite...at maccers. Not anymore.More

Great food and value... Had a quick meal here on our way to Auckland. I had a venison salad and hubby had Muddy's special double burger (best burger we've tasted in the North Island so far!) And bonus: Kids ate for free (Mon-Wed). Coffee was...good too. We will be back for sure!More

Had lunch with a group of friends here. They have small plates and large plates. I had the smashed avocados and fritter and it was very nice. The egg on top added more taste to the dish. The atmosphere was open, sunny and friendly. Located...next to a rest stop on the motorway, so a great place for lunch between Hamilton and Auckland.More

Popped in for a pint and a bite to eat on the way home, it was dirty and overrated. We ordered a pizza to share and a bowl of mussels, the mussels were luke warm and basic. The pizza base was hard as rock and...when we commented on the horrible base they proudly told us it was made by the chef. The tables hadn’t been wiped for weeks by the looks of it and dirty serviettes were laying around everywhere. The bar woman had socks on behind the bar and no shoes until she slopped around delivering meals with her feet half in her trainers. She stepped right over the dirty serviettes and didn’t clear one plate on her way back.More

We called in for a late lunch 1 Sunday. Ordered 2 x beef burgers - oh my goodness - they were ENORMOUS !!! To be honest I could have had a quarter and my husband would have eaten the rest. For $26.00 per burger they...were pricey and did not come with chips, that was an extra $8.00. Muddy Waters needs to look at there pricing of there menu!!! The menu isn’t huge but ok for a pub atmosphere.More

The restaurant is clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is very average, for the prices charged. If you go here, the kids cheese pizza is great, the steak and the large pizza. Stay away from the battered or pan fried...fish, you could smell it before you tasted it (obviously had been in the freezer way too long). Still to be fair they offered another meal, or a refund for my wifes dinner, I was hungry so still ate mine, it wasn’t great. My daughter had the chicken salad, again average, way too many olives. Probably won’t return in a hurry, prefer next time food hall.More
