We base BBQ on Texas style and I bbq at competitions. Kin Folks is good BBQ, not Texas style but close. The ribs and brisket are nice and flavorful. This is one of our go to places while in Mountain View.
Have visited twice and had really good food both times. Had their daily special both times. Chicken and dumplings and then the hamburger steak special. Good sized portions! The specials include dessert and a drink.. Great service and reasonable prices. The stadf is super friendly..
Had the big bbq, a double order of fries, and fried jalapeños. Nice little restaurant, very clean, also signs for no tolerance for cussing. Food arrived in a normal amount of time. It was a dry bbq and no sauce. It was really good, I...kinda wish it had some good homemade bbq sauce to go with it. Fries where cooked perfect and tasted great. Jalapeño where lightly breaded, cooked great, they had limited heat but good flavor.More
I found the inside seating to be very tight. The bbq has a little too much chili powder and it sticks with you. Ribs weren't the best I've had. The potato salad was great. I haven't been back but might consider a burger if I...go back.More
I had a BBQ pork sandwich, which had a huge bun and very little meat. I ended up discarding the top of the bun, then cutting the bottom of the bun in half, putting the little bit of meat there was on that half and...eating that. The rest of the bun was discarded. There was only enough meat for a small slider bun. The taste was OK, but it was not worth the nearly six dollars it cost---the sandwich didn't come with any sides. My husband had chicken strips and fries. The chicken strips did not contain a piece of chicken breast like you might expect, but instead were made from some kind of mashed up stuff that I assume was mashed up bits and pieces of chicken. He ate about two bites of those and some of the fries. The only reason I gave a two-star rating was that the fries were hot as was the rest of the food. We ended up stopping at Walmart and picking up some yogurt and other food that didn't have to be cooked.More
We ate here for lunch. Burgers were huge and flavorful. Bbq had a great smokey flavor. Not much space for dining in, but on a good weather day there is space on the screened in porch and tables outsude.
In the past I was underwhelmed by the food at kin folks, but not this time. I had a double cheeseburger and fries. The burger had great flavor. The fries were home made - not the prefrozen crinkle variety. I would go again.
