Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If the walls of the Vatican Restaurant in Terras de Bouro could speak, they would tell the story of a meal so sublime that it would look like a fresco of Michelangelo, carved with the same rigor and passion. There, at the foot of the historic Parish of São Salvador de Souto, where the surrounding crosses invoke spirituality and divine protection, we experienced not only a meal, but an authentic work of gastronomic art.
We were five, and from the first moment we felt that we were welcomed as if we were the only ones in the room – such was the art of attendance, a true orchestra of sympathy and care. The entries already predicted what was to come: each dish, like a Canova sculpture, carefully worked to awaken the senses. And then, the main moment – a roasted niche that we could swear to have been marinated by the angels themselves, such was the balance between taste and texture.
The desserts, in turn, were the final brushes of a banquet that will forever be engraved in our memories. Everything, from the details of the service to the authenticity of the food, seemed to echo the harmony of the place – the food here is not just a pleasure for the body, but an experience for the soul, with the church and its crosses around seeming to bless every piece.
If there is a place where the name Vatican makes justice to its greatness, it is here where cuisine and sacred art meet to offer us a piece of heaven in every dish. For all those who pass by Terras de Bouro, this is an obligatory stop, a cathedral of Portuguese flavors and roots, full of history that honors the traditions and lead us to travel, but with a careful attention as rarely seen.

Every week we go on the weekend to a different restaurant.
This week we went all the way to Terras de Bouro for the Vatican Restaurant.
The specialty of the restaurant are the entry dishes.
32 in total from seafood , cheese, different meat it was insanely good experience at affordable price.
Everything was delicious including all the samples of desert at the end with coffee.

A restaurant that strives for difference. Anyone who chooses to taste the starters will hardly remain indifferent, as the variety is rich as well as the number of small portions with different textures and flavors with impressive and unlikely but very tasty combinations.
The dish we chose was the Vatican cod canoe. I don't have much to say about this delicacy of the Gods. Probably the best Cod I've eaten in my life. Simply DIVINE.
I have no other way to say this, if you want to eat at this restaurant you must make a reservation, as demand is high.
Family restaurant and very well decorated. Very professional and friendly staff.
I will come back as often as I can.
This restaurant is 6⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent! Entrances are wonderful, the welcoming atmosphere with a regional touch and chairs imitating a church that looks very funny, the friendly service and the impeccable and (extremely) generous food
The entries are a real Refeicao and everything made in perfection! We'll be back!

Restaurant with easy access and a very welcoming space. Although the products were not the highest quality, the tapas suggested by the chef were served in a very creative way. Figs with seafood sauce and alheira with vegetable crumbs are some examples. Furthermore, the doses are extremely well served in terms of quantity. The service was friendly and quick.

Restaurant with two very well-designed rooms. We were in the first floor lounge with a fabulous view. The entries are diverse. We ate two starters for four people and enjoyed them. We ate a meat dish with extremely tender meat. Good service and very friendly. I recommend!

Simple and welcoming restaurant with very friendly service. Insonorizacao is miserable.... Banal entries .... From the little fish in the garden where the pollen was thick... sweet potato full of fat and grain with satisfactory boron. There was a good meat from the empty and a delicious shrimp.

I read the reviews and was curious to try it.
When I arrived they advised me to eat the starters, as it was their calling card.
I was disappointed because they are of poor quality, they are practically all made and heated in the microwave,
I consider it expensive for what is presented.

We went for lunch, being a family of four with three fussy eaters. We hadn't booked but we were welcomed and seated quickly. We had been told the lunch time dish of the day was good. We were not disappointed. We were offered fish or meat. Two of us has fish, with the others having meat. It was all delicious (four clean plates) and amazing value too (€6 each).

The restaurant is some kilometers before Terras de Bouro. The first in TA rank in town. I had some expectations. The place is decorated in a someway Vatican style. The service is pretty efficient and everything is clean and immaculate. The starters menu is a truly jungle of extraordinary pieces (more than 20) of Portuguese food. You can choose the starters menu for € 9,50/person. The main courses of fish and meat can be also an extraordinary gastronomic experience. The wine menu is Portuguese wide acceptable, with very good region Vinho Verde brands. The desserts are gourmet style and very tasteful. A little pricy if you choose a total experience. Better make a reservation.

Second time I have eaten at this lovely family run restaurant. It is unequivocally the best wholesome regional cuisine in northern Portugal. A slow paced dinner where the tables are used with one sitting per service and no rush to move you on. Be sure to book as its a favourite with the locals. When your done, enjoy a beer with the locals watching football outside.

This was my second time coming here to this restaurant. No matter how far and how up the mountain it is, this place is excellent and worth it all. We ordered half the appetizers and as you can see below, everything came perfect, taste was on point. Then we had a leg of beef and it was so tender and juicy! The wait staff are so friendly and kind and on point when it comes to the service. Can't wait to come back here again!

7 of us called in for the set lunch which was just 6 euros per person, included starter soup & a choice of fish, portuguese sausage or veal wrapped in bacon, it was so filling and tasty, so cheap and included bread basket. Service was amazing and spoke good english as we were poor at portuguese, recommended.

This restaurant has quite a lot of character and the way the food is served is great. You get a huge selection of appetisers brought to the table to share which are lovely and a great way of tasting lots of local delicacies. The main courses are equally generous and well cooked.
