Myself, husband and our doggy booked in just for one night to get away before lockdown as it turned out. We really wish we had had had longer to stay at this lovely place and are likely to return. We relaxed the moment we got...there, really safe, good COVID measures in place, super dog friendly and a great room that was really comfortable,. The evening meal was extremely good, reasonable prices and really tasty. Hotel seemed to have a great team. On check-in, we were given a breakfast menu and asked to hand in our breakfast choices later. Everything was laid out for us when we arrived for breakfast in the morning, even the dog had a sausage. A great tasty breakfast, the mushrooms were amazing! We left really happym just sad to leave so soon.....,More

Stopped on route to Blackpool for some lunch, what a great call. We were seated in the rear dining room and we were attended to very quickly and attentively. When the food arrived it was amazing and really fresh. The fish Goujon sandwich was unbelievable...with 4 pieces of beautiful haddock, home made chips were cooked to perfection, all our party thoroughly enjoyed there meal and we will definitely be returning.More

My wife and I were stopping locally for a few days and drove into Kirkby Stephen for dinner. We chose the Black Bull and very glad we did. They have good Covid-19 precautions in place and the service at the table was friendly and prompt....We both decided to have the Black Sheep beer battered fish & chips and were hugely satisfied, the fish cooked to perfection in a light batter. Finished off with sticky toffee pudding with custard - delicious.More

Had a day out in the town and popped into the hotel for lunch, at first glance it does look a tad tired but it more than makes up for my first impressions as my partner and I chose from the lunch menu and could...not fault it... Top marks for service, food quality and priceMore

On our way back from Windermere we called into The Black Bull having rung prior to enquire if the were serving lunch/dinner. Usual COVID restrictions apply and on arrival signed in and scanned QR code then we were seated in the front window. Lovely and...warm by the radiator. After a long day of walking, Sunday Lunch was our choice of dinner. WOW! Roast Beef and Roast Pork were ordered. Freshly cooked veg. Succulent meats. Yorkies to die for. And the Host remembered us calling prior to arrival. All in all we would highly recommend The Black Bull.More

Excellent lunch with two young pups. We were made to feel really welcome including a bowl full of dog nibbles. The host was very friendly and attentive and quickly took our drinks order. The pub is well laid out for Covid rules and we scanned...ourselves in on arrival. Food was very good, I had the fish ale starter followed by the burger which I couldn’t finish ! My wife had the steak & ale pie which was home made. Would definitely recommend this for lunch and the Black Sheep bitter was spot onMore

We visited for lunch with family and we were all very impressed with the quality of the food, it was delicious and very well presented - well done chef! The dining room was somewhat minimalistic but I guess there has to be compromises in these...Covid times. It was a very wet Saturday and quiet but the host was very welcoming and efficient. The menu is excellent and I look forward to returning for what must be some of the best food in the area!More
