My wife and I stayed here for one night whilst travelling from Cumbria to the Midlands. The owner and his partner went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable

Spent a great weekend away in Kirkby Stephen and visited the The Black Bull for an evening meal following some great feedback on TA . This a very busy place, with attentive staff & very nice food. The Covid measures were well presented and the...staff and customers adhered to them perfectly. The dishes are all reasonably priced, with a good selection of offerings and a timely service. Very glad to have booked this in advance as it was quite busy. ... would recommend this if you don't want to be disappointed.More

The food in this pub is exceptional...and deserves five star reviews. Everything was delicious, but I have to give special mention to the homemade shortbread that accompanied my Creme Brulee. Probably the best I ever tasted!

As a last minute addition to our plans, we were able to secure a table for 6 for dinner. The tables are spread apart so that you are too close to other parties dining. When we visited, the restaurant was quite busy and we were...places in the back function room which was spacious. The young lady serving us - did an excellent job considering her workload. The food was delicious and we could not fault it.More

Went for dinner as staying nearby. Staff very friendly. The food was delicious. My only observation would be to perhaps offer a slightly smaller version for those of us that don't have HUGE appetites as the portion sizes are very generous. If you have a...good appetite this is the place to eat.More

Stumbled on this pub whilst out on a walk I had the sweet chilli chicken sandwich whilst hubby had ham and mustard plus we indulged in some chips. The chicken sandwich was proper chicken breast and was delicious with a lovely side salad the pint...was lovely too. Staff were very pleasant young lad who treated us was very chirpy and helpful.More

We visit family in the area regularly and always dine here, sometimes a few times over the weekend. The food is of excellent quality and good portions. The Chef is always happy to help and can be seen in the pub checking all is fine....My wife is dairy free and they always accommodate her meal requests. I recommend everything on the menu. Can't wait to return.More
