Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having around 1 hour and 1/2 to find a place to eat during the tour we had we chose A Bussola. There were no empty tables outside so we sat inside. Service was acceptable not too fast nor too slow. We ordered pork and steak dishes - they were acceptable . The credit card machine was not working so good thing we had cash to pay for lunch. Overall average nothing major - i recommend you try another place at Nazaré.

Haven't eaten here but love the beach bar, it is tourist twee faux Caribbean but a very comfortable spot on the beach with good service. Prices high for Portugal but about par for Nazaré. I can recommend the Caparinhas on a hot day although the alcohol content is scary. All in all a nice spot to sit on the beach and watch the world go by.

This restaurant is definitely on the tourist route on the main street in Nazare. The service has been described by other reviewers as poor and at first ours was like that. Then our waiter once he had time paid more attention to us and we had a very pleasant eating experience. My wife had the fish catch of the day and I had the house prawn dish and both were outstanding. I was surprised for 12 euros to get a dozen huge prawns that were amongst the best I have ever eaten. All in all our eating experience was very good. Just be patient as there are so many tours coming to Nazare with tourists wanting quick meals that I can understand the frustration of the servers.

My family and I had a TERRIBLE experience here. The location on the beach is what brought us here, but, there are much better places to get food. It took over 90 minutes for our starter and meals to arrive (all came at the same time) and the food was horrible. Three people had the “burger on a plate,” which was inedible. The lobster rice dish was not cooked (rice was hard). On top of everything, the service was horrendous. The staff argued with me, claiming we had not waited long, and were rude and unhelpful. Enjoy Nazare, but, do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant.

Awful restaurant. They brought us undercooked, raw calamari and didn't even apologize or offer to change. They told that everything is ok. (However, we are eat lovers and we do know, how well done calamari look and taste).
The second thing, they put snacks on your table, not asking if we need it and taking money for it.
At the table near us there were also some problems.
Be careful!

But ...Very good fish of the day ( dorado) however, the fourth dish 'steak house' was very ordinary.
Service was friendly and they serve good wines.

This place not only looks like a tourist trap, it is a tourist trap. We had lunch with 3, also to enjoy the wifi that we didn't have in our appartment. The waiters seemed indifferent to our presence, in fact it felt like they didn't want us there. "Suddenly" the wifi on all our phones did not work anymore, I suspect they switched it off to speed up our departure. Food was under par.

We discovered A Bussola ( The Compass) on our last night in Nazareth and wish we'd found it sooner. Atmosphere is relaxed, and the food was freshly prepared, good quality and value, and well presented. The waiters spoke and understood English, were friendly and humorous without over stepping the mark. Situated on the sea front, we would recommend a visit here. Look for the sign of the compass. ( Hint: we found that in all the restaurants we visited, that if you don't order a starter, lovely bread, olives, butter and fish pastes are usually brought to your table with your drinks. These are very nice, but they are not complimentary and will be added to your bill. You could send them back, but for the few euros charged we just tucked in!). Enjoy!

Smack on the beach, this is a wonderful little restaurant offering a selection of local dishes in a no fuss setting.
The fish of the day was really yummy, served with a side of bread stuffing which was absolutely amazing.
The octopus salad was also delicious as well as the mussels, which were huge and spectacular. They were the green lipped variety, succulent, well cooked and plentiful. What a meal.
Probably my favourite meal of my 10 days travelling around Portugal. Thanks fellas.

I've visited this restaurant during trip with friends and family to Fatima and Nazare.
The restaurant serves good food, large portions and very reasonable prices, however not sure if would recommend it anyone.
Friend has found a bug in her salad and even tho we were sitting outside, it wasn't fly or anything that can just get on the plate anytime. We have called a waiter, however instead of replacing the dish, he decided to squish the bug in front of us and state that it was a fly, which wasn't sure. when we went to pay inside, we have argued the dish and he has showed us the refrigerator where they keep all raw ingredients and there was a lot of bugs around the seal.
Not sure if this is something that a customer would like to see and the hygiene may be an issue.

Being a usual visitor to Nazaré, I have had the chance to go to quite a few restaurants and this one seems to be getting more expensive because of the prime locations while getting a little worse.
Not to say that it was bad, but the portions are small and the waiters don't have much of a clue of which fish they are serving...
