Our B&B host recommended coming here and it was a good choice. We didn't have a booking but the waitress found us a table that was booked for a later party and that we could have provided we didn't linger over our meal. The staff were friendly and very attentive. We had a delicious meal from the Early Bird menu (though it was already 7pm when we arrived). The restaurant was a little noisy as there were several large parties of young people but it was all very friendly. I would recommend coming here if you want a good meal.

Cake heaven

Passing through we sought local advice on a good spot for coffee and cake. The Central was given a highly recommended rating and we weren’t disappointed. Smooth coffee and a great range of cakes to excite our palette at very reasonable prices. Add in the friendly, helpful staff and we found the perfect venue. Well worth the visit.

Excellent take away options

Called in a takeaway order last night and arranged collection at 5:30 I had the duck pizza which was very tasty. We had the large wings to share which was a very generous portion. They also do a great kids deal for €10 which includes homemade goujons, chips and a brownie. They have a lovely area set up for outdoor seating so will definitely try to book in with the girls for some food and drink next week.

The Central has reopened for business after being shut for Covid. Enjoyed a lovely family meal. If you’re worried about being back out post lockdown then would highly recommend The Central. All Covid measures in place , temperature check on arrival, hand sanitisers throughout, staff wearing visors, tables socially distanced etc. However, while all measures in place, it’s not stress inducing and you can relax and enjoy fabulous food served by very attentive, friendly staff. Menu somewhat pared back but still has your old favourites plus some new dishes to tempt you. Would recommend !

Came in for a quick coffee after work, ended up having dinner. Great food deals in the bar, curry/beef rib and a pint for €15!! Food was soo tasty and service was prompt. Definitely recommend, can’t wait to come back.

Amazing service provided by the Central as always . Went for dinner last Friday and i felt very safe , all staff adhered to the guidelines and made our experience very enjoyable . Definitely will be back again soon.

Anniversary (Take away)

We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary last weekend and instead of visiting the Central for dinner due to Covid19 level 5 we decided to avail of their take away and delivery service. We ordered essentially what we would have in the restaurant a 3 course meal (with cocktails). All food (and drinks) were delivered bang on time and were excellent. Highly recommend the beef ribs and sticky toffee pudding. The Central has supported many local organisations and charities over the years as well as being kind to the many people waiting overnight for concert tickets so we decided to shop local and pay it back.

Lovely spot

We went to this place for a bite to eat and to watch the match this place was lovely & cosy. Nicely decorated, toilets were constantly spotless. Theres a hidden gem upstairs, a massive beer garden/smoking area with it's own bar,lovely lights and plenty of room. This is where most people headed when they came in ,as it was our 1st time here we didn't know about it. We had some food which when it came it was lovely. The Pizza was tasty :) Unfortunately on the night there was a power outage in the whole of Navan town,staff in the Central were on the ball with placing numerous candles on all the occupied tables, they handled the situation Extremely well& quick,the power outage didnt bother us in the slightest ,we still enjoyed ourselves in the dark,it was even cosier

Today was our first visit to the Central. Everything was absolutely fresh and perfect - we had the early bird menu (great variety). We had the delicious crab salad starters, grilled sea bass for mains and bailey's cheese cake with coffee and drinks. My husband is Italian and quite fussy about his food but was full of praise for this place. All the staff were very kind and professional, and last but not least the Central is really beautiful, spotlessly clean with a great atmosphere. Highly recommended, we can't wait for our next visit.

Wonderful Sunday lunch on a cold day with my Irish mother

Took a table in the back room, very spacious and quiet, prompt service though the menu is limited. They have a set lunch menu special offer. Not a great choice of dishes. We ordered pizza and chicken wings, lovely pizza though could have been a bit bigger, chicken wings very tasty though a bit greasy. a bit expensive for what itis, but a lovely meal nonetheless. Will come back and try other dishes another time. thank you

On a recent restaurant visit 08/08/20, I found the following Covid Compliance Measures fairly spot on in my Compliance Officer opinion Arrival: Sanitizer stations, allocated toilets and general outlines of table service procedure pointed out to us by our table escort Derek upon being seated. During: Visited by a manager, Justine twice to follow up to see if we were comfortable with the seating arrangements, ventilation check, reinforcement of the venue traffic procedures with a smile & quick Q&A chat. Departing: Table service appeared to give us a 15 minute notice warning. Upon our leaving, we were guided out by a member of staff in a timely manner to the next table and a thank you for our custom Quality of food yummy. Value of food ok. Measures & PPE compliance by staff very good in our opinion of our groups visit. I was apprehensive on dining out but it was fine and we had a lovely evening in a real positive vibe atmosphere. I liked the feature on the door in the ladies toilet to use your foot with a little foot tool to open the door rather than touching handles. Maybe a few more Covid safety signs as reminders might be no harm. Hand hygiene, Distance & Respiratory Etiquette are up to us all for ourselves in all our daily actions and activities too.

Cosy Sunday Lunch at the Central

We haven't been to the Central since pre Covid times and it certainty did not disappoint. We went for the Early Bird Menu, 3 courses for €25. We both had wings to start, they were so good, they had a honey glaze on them, very different but very nice. The lemon & lime chicken was very tasty and the asian chicken fried rice was full of flavour. Both desserts were delicious and the guinness was lovely too! Very friendly and attentive staff at the Central and Chef is very accommodating when asking for dishes without a certain ingredient, always goes a long way when dining out. Would highly recommend the Central for food.

Superb Experience.

Dined in The Central 11th September with family. Excellent Covid precautions on entry, with very friendly staff. We were shown to our table which was comfortably “socially distanced” from other diners. Lovely atmosphere, and service was excellent. Quality and presentation of food was second to none, tasty and of high quality. Well done to The Central. Would highly recommend a visit.

The Central Navan

Disappointing meal in The Central this evening. This was our 3rd visit and it didn't compare to previous visits sadly. Kids had pizza and carbonara. They were ok, apart from carbonara reheated in microwave with a lob of butter. But you get that a lot elsewhere. First warning I guess was when a 0.0 Guinness was served flat and 3 or 4 degs warmer than it should be. Our food landed out 10mins after ordering. Great for some, but not if you are looking for a little quality for your money. I ordered chicken supreme and there was more plate than food served. With a few greens in a cup (which were cooked well). Chicken was plastered in sauce, which may cover up the dry bland reheat, on two spoons of mash. I was hungry so carried on. My wife had fish and chips. Chips were cooked about two hrs previous. They changed the chips but fish was no better. In fact there are take aways not far from their door, which serve twice the quality fish n chips. And I'm not lying. I genuinely can't remember the last time I left a restaurant feeling so hard done by. Spoke to a manager about issues, she took some notes, but we left feeling she didn't seem to believe me or simply didn't care. Never before have we gone from a restaurant meal to McDonald's. I get it that there are big numbers on a Sunday and I get it that sometimes things go wrong and you can't please everyone all the time, but having spent money, to then needing to spend more. There is something very wrong with that!! I will mention I dropped something on my way out and a young member of staff did pick it up and got it to me before we'd left. So thank you for that! We try to eat out most weekends, but I don't go giving out just for the sake of it. There are hundreds of restaurants doing a good job in difficult times and we tend to return to them. But now and again you come across one that could do better. I'm sure it's true our experience today was not the same for all, but if you don't say something, things tend to repeat, I find and that will affect us all.

Alarming drop off in food quality

Was a fairly regular visit in the past when working quiet local. Decided to make a return trip and left feeling so underwhelm. Wife ordered the fish and chips, which came out as one moderate piece of Cod and a plate overloaded with frozen chips. The chips had that taste of being cooked in oil that had been overused and tainted (a throw back to a bad late night chipper). The Chicken dish with Asian rice and veg clearly resembled one of those frozen bags of rice & Veg that you would find in an Aldi or Lidl (no offence to German supermarkets) . Little content or quality. The restaurant part felt dark and dreary. We avoided desserts and just got the bill. Only plus, the waitress was pleasant. Has this place changed ownership? it seem a million miles from the high standards it use to set. We won't be returning.
