It is instantly clear why this restaurant is so very amazing… it is a labor of love between a husband and a wife who pour their passion, heart, and soul into creating a perfect dining experience. Our hotel highly recommended we go visit Giannis for dinner, and our meal was so lovely that we returned the next day for lunch, which was equally great. Giannis is a warm,charming, and intelligent host who not only offers excellent service, but prepares the diner for success with perhaps the best bit of storytelling I have ever seen on a menu. I have been enjoying wine all over the world for my entire life, and I literally read every word of the beautiful descriptions of each wine, and in the process, received a thorough education of Greek wines. And it led me to a white wine unlike anything I have ever tasted, complex with tannins and a hue of orange color. Giannis has thought of every little detail. Each Greek craft beer (also wonderfully described) is paired with the perfectly shaped and branded glass from that particular brewery. Each chair, both inches from the sea where we dined with a world class view, and those on the patio, had a perfectly folded, clean, and comfy blanket for the nighttime chill. Giannis is a master of his craft. And his wife Nina’s passion for cooking is equally perfectionistic: grilled local sea bream and octopus, pasta dishes that would humble many Italian chefs, fresh and abundant salads topped with their own olive oil and nuanced dressings and sauces, and even a sophisticated but still elegant artistic plating of each dish. Each dish was perfectly executed. My mother and father together operated a very successful restaurant for 60 years, so I know firsthand the power of a couple who is passionate about food, drink, and providing their customers with an unparalleled experience. If you are in or near Gytheio, you just reward yourself by visiting. And when you do, please tell Giannis and Nina that Michael from Arizona can’t wait to return with his family.

Everything about this dining experience was excellent! It was my husband’s birthday and the staff made us feel special. The food was excellently prepared - creative AND delicious. We had an appetizer of local products of the Mani (smoked meat, cheese, tomatoes and cucumber.). The grilled fish portion was large as was the seafood pasta that my husband ordered. A delicious salad of fresh, tender greens with almonds was also served. Since it was a birthday, we ordered a brownie dessert which was so good. There is a nice wine list and many options for a large or small meal. We noted that some stop by for the local craft beers. This is a husband and wife team. Thanking them for their kindness!

Great spot at the small harbour, friendly staff and a wide range of selections for dinner dishes. We had meat and pasta, beef was missing that night so we had pork that was tasty. We do recommend it.

Good food, bad service. We had a reservation at 8:30 pm. When we got there the table was waiting but the one person serving was busy and it took ten minutes to seat us. It then took another twenty minutes for the order to be taken, by now it is 9 pm. All tables are occupied and the one waiter, Yiannis, is overwhelmed . We ordered drinks, water and two glasses of wine, the dip starter, the Verde salad and two pasta dishes. It took ten minutes for the water to be brought, then ten more minutes for the dip starter. The wine came after ten more minutes with the salad. So now it is 9:30 pm. At least the food is good. The main courses came forty minutes later. They were also very good. Yuannis my friend you must get help. It is a shame for a restaurant with such good food to have bad service. Maybe there was a problem in the kitchen, maybe it was busier than usual but if you want to be top rated you must provide good service!

We ate here whilst staying in the Pantheon City Hotel next door but one. The restaurant is small and intimate and the food was outstanding. We started with mussels for the husband and Taramasalata for me, followed by salmon with a pea purée and beef cheek ragout. This is the best meal we have had on our Peleponese Road Trip. We also had a bottle of award winning organic white wine at €20 which was dry & full of flavour. We shared a a white chocolate dessert that was amazing. If you visit Gythio make sure you pay them a visit. The bill was around €70 in total but well worth it. The chef is amazing and the proprietor very welcoming. You can also buy their own olive oil and rock salt

Maybe the best gourmet food in Laconia, try the octupus with fava, or the fresh fish etc. Very good service, friendly faces and attitude and delicious food. Very good quality to price ratiop

Friendly not pushy staff, close to the ferry, small restaurant, excellent food. Good price, nice appetizer and we were served additional pita bread without asking. Allow enough time for the food to be prepared if you're not at at normal meal time.

We have been here twice and had a great table right by the sea. The food is regional, very fresh, beautifully and modernly presented and very tasty. The chef also personally recommends a suitable wine to go with the chosen dish. I can only recommend it.

The range and quality of Greek wine is exceptional and the server very knowledgeable and helpful. Fantastic place to have a change from "fresh fish" or " home cooked Greek". Sausages, bruschetta, pasta, meats etc all excellent. When it's very busy the service is very slow, but when not so full it's perfect.

We enjoyed two delicious dinners at O! live, owned and managed by the gracious husband and wife team of Ioannis and Nina. Ioannis, who served us our dinners, was a delight to talk with. He is very kind, thoughtful, generous, and soft-spoken—a real gentleman.
The food prepared by Nina was outstanding! Everything was cooked to perfection. The quality of the food was superior to most restaurants. The ingredients were all very fresh and mostly organic. The menu consists of Greek dishes that are much more innovative than the usual Greek fare. We especially enjoyed the different types of bread, various cheeses from the Cyclades, the grilled vegetables, and the sea bream ceviche. Excellent choices of wine and ouzo are available to enhance the meal.
If you are in Gythio, don’t miss out on a wonderful waterfront dining experience at O! live!

We had gone for lunch 4-5 years ago and everything was good. This time, the owner was indulgently unacceptable (!) We had booked a table from the previous day for 8pm. When we arrived he told us he hadn't noted it down. He let us sit at one of the 5 empty tables he had. He brought us catalogs after 15 minutes. We were looking for him but 15 minutes to order. When he did us the honor of coming to our table, he told us to expect a long delay because he had no staff - more than half an hour. We told him it was too much and that we would probably leave. Instead of apologizing, he had the audacity to tell us that we would have already served him... I have no words, I have never experienced this before. Of course we will never go back.

thank you very much for your patience and response. As a small family business our restaurant relays mainly on our selfs, my specially in the service.
For the reservation you have made the misunderstanding has happened is our fault and I would like to apologise for it.
For the service and the time you have mentioned you were waiting first for the menu, after for the order, after for you food (eventually as you haven’t had a dinner) i deeply doubt was so long and so rude, as for the 10 years we are running this restaurant never had such complains and all our clients are truly satisfied and coming back with pleasure.

We had ceviche as a starter - simply brilliantly good. If you want bread with it, order it at the same time, there is no cover charge. Then tagliatelle with blue crab and fennel, very fine and really recommended 👍 also the traditional Mani-style pasta, a bit more rustic but also very good. Unfortunately there was no room for dessert. We were already very satisfied in 2022, would love to go back!

The best meal we had in the Peloponnese. Food freshly cooked, good value, friendly, knowledgeable owner, lovely setting. Hope the olive oil we bought there turns our cooking into something similar.

This great little place has now existed for three years. Amazing range of food, very good prices, and very attentive and friendly host. Not many seats though and can be a bit tight on the walkway. They have their own olive trees and have a very virgin olive oil super well priced for the quality. Try their mussels when in season.

we thought the restaurant was okay, but don't look anymore. Unfortunately, many dishes were not available on the menu, but may be due to the postseason. The quality of the food was ok, the portions rather small, the price a bit upscale. The host was more annoyed than friendly - not such a great atmosphere.
