Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very friendly and family orientated tavern. The plater we had basically covered a wide range of sea food at a very reasonable cost. The view just adds to the experience making one feel that you’re in Greece. Service was good and staff very friendly willing to make some valuable suggestions.
A good place to experience the tastes of the Aegean.

We decided to come bak to Gytheio because we really loved this restaurant and the people working there. Even in the Covid-19 period we enjoyed eating here again. This time I loved the braised Goat, the meatballs in sauce and the pork souvlaki (very good quality of meat); I don't eat fish, but my wife enjoyed the fish soup and a big plate of small red fishes which were very lovely according to her. Georgina and Pedro are running the place with a big smile (visible behind the plastic protector shield), while her mother still runs the kitchen.
I still can't believe how they can keep the prices so low. All dishes are 5 to 7 euro and you have to search very hard to find an 8 euro dish. Georgina advised us a special starter, which name I forgot, but that was very tasteful. It was a sort of fried zucchini perfect spiced with tzatziki. Very nice alternative for the salads.
Most of the Greek people eat here and that is always a hint that this is good.
Please pass the neighbors who are begging for customers every evening.

Traditional friendly family run restaurant with beautiful view out to sea especially at sunset. We had fried mixed fish which defeated us and the surrounding cats given portion size but super fresh and tasty. Just round corner from main activity but glad we went here. We ordered spinach pie and cheese pasties for takeaway for the beach next day and again very generous with what was provided. Owner very friendly .

Located by the harbour front, all coloured in white and blue, paper cloths on the tables, sweaty hardworking waiters, a simple menu with a lot of fried fish at reasonable prices - and last, but not least dozens of Greek families eating, drinking, laughing…
Well, isn’t that the kind of fish taverna you are always looking for in Greece?
For starters we had a perfect Greek salad and fried chickpea balls (Greek falafel). A dip for the tasty, but rather dry chickpea balls would have been nice.
One of ud had the shrimps Saganaki (cooked in a delicious tomato/feta sauce). Yum!
The other one had a slice of fried white fish and some eggplant dip. No vegetables.
All the Greeks around us seemed to have fried shrimps, fried sardines, fried calamari. I guess fried fish is huge in Greece, and I Trata knows how to cook it.

We really enjoyed our late lunch, taking out time and sampling dish after dish. The owners were great - we met the whole family in the course of our meal.
The beer was ice cold, the mezedes fresh and big portions, we tried the local loukaniko (orange spiced sausage) and it was so good! Yum and Yum.

Friendly Greek restaurant frequented as much by Greeks as well as foreigners on a Saturday night. Huge seafood platters, fish, Greek traditional daily plates, and plenty of appetizers on the menu. We enjoyed the moussaka and grilled shrimp. Service was excellent in this small family run taverna. Thank you.

After wandering around Gytheio for most of the day we had walked past this establishment a few times and thought it might be our dinner spot. Reasonably quick service and orders taken. Water, white wine (1/2 litre), 2 grilled fish dishes - one with salad and one with chips. The chips would have to have been the most 'touristy' (they'll never be back) chips ever - a bare handful of cold and soggy chips did not do anything positive for the meal. At least we only paid 25 euro altogether.

My husband and I spent a lingering, late lunch here on our way through to Limeni. There were a few locals here, so we knew that we had made a good choice. One of the locals sent over a bottle of Restina to our table which was so incredibly kind, and the spirit of hospitality that we ran across all over the Mani.
We over ordered, (the portions are huge!), but wanted to try as much as we could, and we were not disappointed. The grilled octopus, mani sausage, stuffed peppers and fried eggplant were delicious. Great service as well.

You can find the best traditional dishes here as well as excellent quality/fresh fish dishes.
The view is amazing and the service very fast and friendly. Most prices are average/below average.
From the 3 surrounding taverns/traditional restaurants prefer this one.

The first impression was “yet another Greek tavern”, but the first surprise was the amount of fresh fish food offered by professional and experienced staff. The next surprise was when the dishes came: the quantity and quality was amazing. The final surprise came with very moderate prices. We’ll come again for sure.

Our choice of the trawler was based on positive reviews... and it really didn't let us down..
The fish soup we got was wonderful and filling, as well as the fish fresh and well cooked..
Ms. Panagiota is helpful and impeccable and as for the prices, they positively surprised us!!!!
The plus of the shop is the wonderful view of the sea 😊

Very nice shop overlooking the port! We visited the Holy Spirit on the three days, although there was a lot of people, the food was served quickly and was treated and delicious. Specifically I tried the shrimp, because I was impressed by its price and it really was worth it. Per ⁇ the best shop we ate in all of Manila this three days, comparing quality and price, we will definitely visit again.

We had a fantastic experience here. There is a wide menu choice with lots of fish which was very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. Service was excellent. As you might expect, it was very busy and this added to the atmosphere. The local wine (carafe) was very drinkable. Definitely eat here when in Gythio.
