Sagar is our go to Indian Restsaurant in Birkenhead and has been for many years. Its a great place for taking guests, a family dinner or to pick up a takeaway.
The food is always of a high standard and is consistently good.
We have more takeaways than dine in meals and find the servings generous and well priced, lamb biryani being our favourite.
We will be back soon

My boyfriend and I ate in the restaurant for dinner - usually we grab takeaway. It was just as delicious as always - good service, good food, and you can takeaway any leftovers. We get takeaways once or twice a month and are never disappointed. Delicious samosa, roti, butter chicken, naan, palak paneer.

Very friendly and courteous staff. We had a selection of curries with naans and a shared entree. All magnificent. Drinks were inexpensive, and the meal was good value for money. It cost 4 of us just $38 each. Have been there several times before, and it is my personal favourite. Will be back.

I was going to Saagar for a few years as the food was great. My last visit was on the 02 of December. The food quality has nosedived. We ordered the biryani and butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. We left about half of the biryani as it was tasteless.
The butter chicken was okay but the flavour has dropped from my previous visit till now. I will not be going back.

We drive from Muriwai to this Birkenhead Indian at least once a month . No Indian restaurant between us and them compares (and there’s a few of them!
If you live on the shore, consider yourself lucky!
Favourite dishes : lamb biryani, any other lamb dish, Keema naan, lamb barah kebab

The sauces were watery and like they came out of a can. The white rice was undercooked. How does an Indian restaurant mess up rice? Too expensive for terrible food

This place is consistently good. Love the Dahl and they do a lovely yogurt sauce. Highly recommend. We mainly get takeaways and they are quick and generous.

Handy local curry house ..the best thing I like about here is the fresh naans .. the curry is good and not over priced ..very busy during peak nights especially the takeaway area.

Appalling service. I can't comment on the food as we left before our order arrived. We waited for more than 45 mins after ordering before leaving. People who came into the restaurant after us were served before us. We were told our food was on it's way, to where I don't know as it never got to our table.

Friendly service and yummy food. I love the onion bhaji. The curries are very tasty and not too greasy. Naan bread is nice and fresh. Excellent value for money.

Poor service not very friendly very chewy chicken and wartery sauce and the pictures were nice inside but the food price is a rip-off I will never go there again the food was terrible
