About
A collaboration between Chef Harley Ray Guy and Owner Skyler Reeves, Barley Hound opened in May of 2015. With a large dog friendly patio, welcoming casual atmosphere, and outstanding food and drinks it has quickly become one of Prescott's favorite restaurants. The menu aims to please adventurous eaters as well as having some great familiar items. House ground chuck cheeseburgers and fries are just as at home on our menu as are sweetbreads and bone marrow. The menu changes four times per year due to our heavy reliance on local produce. The beverage program takes the lead from the dinner menu and focuses on local and fresh. We offer eight Arizona craft beers on draft, a small and eclectic wine

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We met friends here for dinner. We were able to bring our dog, so that was a plus. They even have an entree for the dog -- rice and beef served on a frisbee! (Although I have to say the beef was very light.) I...had a delicious duck burger! The salad had a couple of little tomatoes, two slices of cucumber, and a pile of greens. Not impressed with that. We were surprised to see that a glass of Cabernet was $20! That's pricey. Service was very good. We all thought the music was overly loud.More

I stayed at the hotel next-door, so it was a short walk. The open patio was delightful. It was nice to see dogs on the patio. In short order, I was invited to share a table with two other people. I ordered a margarita, and...was sad to find that it was tasteless. It was not busy, but the food was slow to come. The cranberry, apple salad was excellent. I shared a bread pudding with two other people. This was excellent as well. That’s why I gave it a mixed review.More

My friend & I had Delicious fresh SALADS with balsamic vinaigrette dressings. I had strawberry, blueberry, goat cheese on a green salad. My friend had green apple and blue cheese on a green salad. The food and serving size was good. I had a beagle...with me, and the restaurant accommodated us with outdoor seating and a bowl of water for my dog. There is also a beef meal served on a frisbee for your dog on the menu. Very fast and friendly service.More

The reviews didn't do justice to our experience. Customer service was not that great, the food wasn't either. The prices matched what they were supposed to deliver, but in the end it was overpriced.

I’m a local. I’ve been 2 times (years ago) prior to today. In past experiences, food as not been great so haven’t been for years. Decided to try again today, and hostess sent me and 8yo to bar area to eat. Get there, no menu....Ask for menu, man with ~8 menus seems annoyed and says he’s bringing them up front. A fellow patron hands me one (thank you). Sit down, only one kids item on menu (hamburger), which does not reflect their online menu. We left.More

We eat at the Barley Hound like 10 times a year. We like sitting outside when it's warm and the dog-friendly patio allows us to invite guests with pets. Our visit Friday was on the tail end of bailing out on another local restaurant (Hassayampa...lounge), so we were already snarky. Ordered an Old Fashioned which came out with no cherry. I whined and they fixed it. Ordered the Monk Fish special which came out rare. Sent it back immediately and they fixed it. It was tasty, different, and the sauce was ohhh so good! Wife's burger was good and the truffle fries are always a hit. However, the prices are getting too high for what you receive. Service was good. Got to remember to have fun with wait-staff around Prescott... it goes a long way. Restaurants around Prescott are starting to charge for a single martini what an entire bottle costs at the store. As a result...we're going on a drink strike.More

The patio is so inviting. Mature trees towering over a historic district with fun music over the sound system. Our meal was not so inviting. I requested the artichoke grilled cheese sandwich be made on marble rye, which is available on other sandwiches. The server...told me the kitchen could not do that. It was such a simple request, I was surprised it was unmanageable. The sandwich with a sun dried tomato pistachio pesto had too much going on. Between the pesto & the artichokes, I couldn't really enjoy the grilled cheese. The sandwich needs to be rethought. The side salad that came with the sandwich was a handful of spring mix lettuce. A slice of cucumber adorned the salad. It didn't look appetizing. My Companion's burger was average. The side of duck fat fries were good. The only time the server smiled was when she gave us options on how to leave the tip. We won't be backMore

Everything I have had is top notch. Except last time I was there the duck fat fries were sub standard. (I have never had them there before so nothing to compare them against). To be fair; before we were sat the hostess told us the...kitchen was running behind and needed some time to recoup. Having met Skylar I am sure this was a 1 time problem and problem has been fixed. Will go there next time am in town.More

Our reservations were made 2 weeks in advance for a group of 6 for Sunday (7.3.22) at around 1pm. Not knowing it was gonna be Sunday brunch with VERY limited menu. Website never mentioned brunch only… • Greeting was very weak by hostess. • The...menu choice was limited and overpriced. • Food was just ok. Nothing really popped with flavor. • Charged $5 for extra gravy that should have been included in the breakfast burrito. First time I have ever paid $20 for a burrito… • Waiter was very condescending and passively rude. • In addition, we actually watched the hostess turn away lots of customers during published business hours while half the tables were empty… • Will not go back.More

We had amazing cocktails and the food was delicious. The dessert was amazing, cake soaked in liquor with berries. I had a black bean/goat cheese burger with sweet potato fries that was amazing. My daughter had a beef burger that was so good. We had...to take a walk after dinner as we enjoyed all and ate everything! Also, very dog friendly.More

From the beverage selection to the food, everything was well planned. My son's (young adults) and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors and none of them overwhelming, but just the right balance. Mushroom chips, Poutine, Osso Bucco, Waygu hamburger, garlic mashed potatoes, and probably the best...Caesar salad dressing I've ever had. Their homemade ketchup for the duck fat fries was a hit with my boys! The only sad part was, we were too full to try their bread pudding dessert! Something for next time.More
