Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As much as this may sound like the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack...we definitely had a great evening here in early August. We got to see a magical fiafia show with the best fire dancing I had witnessed in Samoa (Even agile and nimble youngsters had impressively...joined in) while we also received superb food, beverages and table service. The carafes of wine, in our case, Pinot Grigio, were good value...and our mains were delightful. It was a shame to finish in the end and to be driven back, Cinderella-like, home by taxi to Le Vasa. Our waitress was very friendly and kind, and we had simply loved our table with its shimmering soft focus view of the Palm Terrace!More

This was our 5th stay at Coconuts Beach Club - we always have the meal deal as it is such good value. Unfortunately Mika himself recently passed away but his legacy lives on with this beautiful restaurant. This is the only on site option for...meals, very convenient, not far to walk from your room for excellent service. The menu is varied, lovely seafood choices but if that's not your thing there are many other options. Our favourite entrees were Escargot, Onion Soup, Keke Ia (fish cakes), Smoked Tuna, Mussels St Tropez, Oka. Our favourite mains were Steak Champignon, Steak Diane, Chicken Oriental, I'a Almondine (Fish), Coconuts Chicken or Beef Burger with fries. The best thing is if you will be away for the day - simply choose from the lunch menu after breakfast and they will pack your choices in a loan esky to take with you. There are fabulous choices for breakfast - a continental breakfast for those who just want something light or an American breakfast with your choice of sausage or bacon for something more. The omelette is also a lovely choice and the Paniolo is perfect for a hang over. The meal deal is certainly good value when you take into account the amount of juice/tea/coffee/water/wine & beer you will consume at meal times and dinner is 3 courses - the deserts are fabulous! Yes you may indulge in calories when eating here but hey - you are on holiday, so let your hair down. We love the local beer "Taula" which is part of the meal deal too. We have had people among our group in the past who did not choose the meal deal - they were actually sorry in the end, especially when hit with their bill upon checkout.More

Came here for dinner expecting something special. 1st off we were greeted by grumpy staff. We got our orders in and then had a fairly long wait. The food that came could not be justified by the prices paid. Curry lobster had a small amount...of lobster in sauce, just expected more. All desserts sound amazing but were actually quite bland and just flooded with ice cream. Overall the grounds and the hotel itself look really good. Just a shame can't say much good about the restaurant.More

On our drive from the ferry to Lalomanu we decided to stop at Coconuts for a nosey (!) and lunch at Mika's Restaurant. The views were incredible - we sat at the bench tops facing out to sea and enjoyed the sunshine and views. The...place is very nicely decorated - very flash and everything is in it's place. There were lots of staff and all were very attentive and friendly. The food was fairly expensive (as to be expected really) but there was a huge selection and it was very nice. We both had fish which was tasty and fresh. Both came with generous servings of salad and my husband also had breadfruit chips (which we thought would be tasteless but they were okay, although not sure about serving them with plain old tomato sauce!). Overall, good views in a bit of luxury surroundings with fantastic views.More

We have stayed at Coconut's Beach Resort 3 times in the past 4yrs & have always selected the meal deal, most convenient and a lovely choice of meals a short walk from our room... Our last visit was for 2wks to celebrate my partner's 60th...birthday, also a local good friend's milestone birthday on the same day - there were 11 of us that came over from Australia, family & friends and everyone had a fabulous time!... We absolutely love the Samoan way of life & the staff at Coconut's are very friendly, wonderful people - Wilma, Mika, Lae, Luisa, Vala, Joni, Pita, Tala and everyone else were most fabulous hosts!.. we are already planning our next visit to Coconuts Beach Resort in December 2014 and hope to bring a large group of people again this time... 8-)More

We were not staying there, but having been given a recommendation by a friend, visited Coconuts with the intention of having lunch. Having parked our rental car we made our way towards the restaurant and had a brief encounter with an older gentleman who made...us feel somewhat unwelcome and grumpily motioned in the direction of the building. After reviewing the menu, we elected not to dine and left again quite quickly, having consumed a drink only. This appeared to be a nice place, but the human element on the day gave it a vibe that did not make me want to stay there.More

We were staying at the Coconut beach resort where this restaurant is part of, and had high expectations. Unfortunately the food was very average, and most concerningly a good number of us became ill. Of the 6 people (3 couples includung us) picked up from...the airport 4 people had become ill including us. Not sure if it is the water or food care, but Coconuts needs to sort this out because it will only damage the resort's overall reputation.More

We stayed at Coconuts recently for a friends wedding, we weren't on the meal deal, so ate at Sinalei, Lupe's and Mika's at Coconuts. I had the Chicken Parmersano twice for dinner and it was lovely, very cheesy, but I like cheese so loved it!...We had breakfast a few times and this is where I think the restaurant is let down. Most places include breakfast with your accommodation, so I think people are already feeling a bit let down, then when they're charged $9 Tala for wine glass of orange juice (filled with ice) they're angry. I brought up the juice cost issue with management on check out and they said that it is imported from New Zealand but will revisit the glass size (note that Lupe's next door serves Keri juice from New Zealand for $6 Tala for a large glass). The 'All American Breakfast' on Mika's menu is meant to be the 'big breakfast' although my partner and other guys in our group found it lacking, their pick overall was the omelette which comes with a side of potatoes. The dessert menu was also quite expensive for price, although I found the dinner menu good value - it was comparative to what you'd pay at a decent restaurant in Auckland. The wedding food was lovely, I've no idea about the price, but the appetisers especially were amazing.More

We bought the meal deal as part of our honeymoon package and it was worth every cent. Every meal was simply delicious but the Cajun sashimi, i'a uliuli, chocolate dream cake, panakeke Samoa and Panilolo breakfast stand out as my firm favourites. The local beer,...Vailima, is very good too, though the house wine was not to my taste.More

We had the misfortune of staying at Coconuts for our honeymoon (but thats another story!) On the 2nd say I became ill and was up all night with stomach cramps and running to the toilet. At first I thought it was due to the heat...but the next morning at Breakfast I saw the bar woman wipe her mouth and face on a tea towel and then proceeded to dry glasses with the same towel I can only imagine what was going on it the kitchen then!! Most items were overcooked and covered in a creamy sauce or cheese.More

We were driving around the island and wanted to stop for coffee and dessert. Having eaten here previously and enjoyed it, I was disappointed with the service and quality. If I am paying Sydney or Auckland prices for a cup of coffee, I don't want...instant coffee. A hot fudge sundae was 27 tala (around NZ$16) and the sauce was grainy. It's a beautiful location and this was probably an aberration given all the positive comments here - but a note to management to keep prices fair for tourists.More

I was staying close by to coconuts when we decided to dine there for the night. I ended up woth the worst food poisioning from the meal I ate. I was in bed for a whole day and night. i spoke to the new manager...there who apologies and then made every excuse, and he then went on to tell me that he had even been sick from the food. The restaurant staff had very poor attitude, to all the dining patrons, on view. I would NOT reccomend this place at all. Amazing part of the world, but Coconuts will not be on my list to visit again.More
