The real deal!

The service, atmosphere, cleanliness, and FOOD was stellar! I had my doubts that we could get authentic Indian food being as far away from the subcontinent as we are in Ecuador. But we were not disappointed. The menu is vast, and the food authentic. I was pleased to see a real Indian cook in the kitchen. He was wearing a hairnet, and he peeked around the corner and gave us a smile when he saw we were enjoying our dinner. The waiter was very warm and hospitable. There are little touches that made it a great experience. For example, they give you a glass of water when you arrive, something very few restaraunts do in Ecuador. Indian music videos were playing on the TV, and the way it's decorated really made it authentic too. And they had our favorite Indian dessert, Gulab Jamun. We were not disappointed, and we'll be back!

Best Indian Food

Incredible food! My friend and I came here and we were both impressed by their vegetarian selection. I ordered the chana masala which was amazing and their naan is great too. The owner came to our table and spoke to us and you can tell that he is passionate about his work and the restaurant. Will definitely come back to this place when I return to Baños!

Authentic and won’t disappoint

A little hole in the wall restaurant in Banos, Ecuador. What a find! The service was excellent and the food was amazing. Great portion sizes and very flavourful/authentic. Had two vegetarian appetizers (one recommended by our server) and a main dish (paneer butter masala). We were not disappointed! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for authentic Indian food or something different to try rather than South American food.

Delicious food and nice staff

I went our to eat with a group of 10 other people from my hostel in town. They were extremely accommodating for us and the curry was one of the best curries I've ever eaten. I wish I lived in Banos and could go back. Definitely recommend. Me fui a comer alla con un grupo de 10 personas de mi hostel (en Banos). Nos ayudaron mucho a sentirnos comodo, y el curry que comi estaba re rico. Uno de los curries mas ricos que he comido en todo mi vida! Volveria si vivia en Banos. Lo recommendo mucho.

I live in Banos and everyone had been raving about the Indian food. My experience was quite different from most and I am somewhat embarrassed, but I feel I should write about it. On my birthday my girlfriend wanted to take me somewhere special and we decided to try Indian. As far as we know we were the only ones dining that night which made for a very nice, long, intimate experience, and the staff was certainly very attentive. We both thought the food was very good, but later that night it was a good thing that we were able to equitably share the bathroom between all the necessary visits. T finally did get better the next day, but I have rarely felt worse in my life and for the next two days I carved a short path between bed and bowl. The best I can say is that I will not forget that birthday and, as far as I know, no one else has had a similar experience. However, I am sorry to say that I will not return; I refuse to tempt fate when there are too many other good restaurants in town.

Legitimate Indian food and great service!

Amazing food and incredible service! We were a group of 7 and they accommodated is with impeccable service. All our dishes were amazing, we shared the chicken tikka tandoori and all got different types of curries to the spice level we each requested. Their spices were legitimately brought from abroad as many of these spices don't exist here. The naan was so great we ordered extra portions although each curry dish comes with either rice or naan! The mango and strawberry lassi were a good drink to compliment the spice. The portions were large we all took our leftovers to go. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and would definitely come back again! Thank you for a great time, amazing food and service!

Amazing food, super clean and great service!

We had dinner here last night and were blown away both how delicious the curries and Masala cheese naan were. The place is absolutely spotless and the server was so attentive and helpful. We are both hoping to return soon.

Don’t know if it’s worth it 🤷🏻

Felt as though the curry itself was pretty good but the two Naan served with were soo thin they were crispy like Poppadoms. Ordered a couple more to finish my dish to find out they were $2 per Naan. Criminal considering the size and thickness. For the price you pay, I expected more and don’t know if I’d visit again. Oh, and ordered a second dish so I didn’t leave hungry. Cost me $25 in the end for dinner and I’m only 90kg.. Pretty steep if you ask me, especially for Ecuador

Indian Breads(Naan)always serve crispy and thin except from CHAPATI.In case if someone dont like it so they should warned server about it.Second, about pricing its clearly mentioned in menu in two languages Spanish and english.Nothing is hide.Even there are no service charges.One main course with two naan costs 11.95$ which quantity of food with gravy is 500ml ,and same was charged.its clients wish how they want order. Thank you once again for dine with us and please do try to give us another opportunity so we are able to change your impression about us. Top Notch Indian Food in Banos!

Had an excellent dinner recently at Sher E Punjab on 10/31/20. We searched Trip Advisor to find a good spot for dinner and came across this restaurant. We didnt make a reservation, just walked over and were seated immediately. We spoke with the owner, "Boss," who was so nice and accommodating. We conversed about his family and other restaurant in Quito as well as our trip- being one of the few American's traveling right now. We had the Vegatable Korma, Chicken Tiki Masala and Veggie Samosas. Everything was fantastic! Some of the best Indian food i've ever had. If you are in Bano's, put this restaurant on your list!

Fantastic! I grew up in a city with a large East Indian/Punjabi/Sikh population, so I am well accustomed to quality food of this type. Sher E Punjab in Baños is as good or perhaps even better than any place I've ever been. Don't miss it.

Best meal in Banos

Indian food in Ecuador - yes. Best restaurant in Banos, I wish I could more easily go back. We had a all the Naan - garlic & cheese, Chicken Tikki Masala, rice, and an eggplant based dish. All were amazing.

Great service and unique food

My partner and I were craving Indian food while in Ecuador and found this place. The food was tasty. The curries are a little sweet and they give you a healthy portion of whatever you order. They don’t skim you on the meat or veggies. We liked it so much that we went back with the whole family of 12 and they absolutely enjoyed it. One person said they’re going to learn how to make Indian food after because it was so tasty. The service was great; they were friendly and attentive.

A taste of home in Ecuador

I came to Sher E Punjab with my friend on a quick visit to Baños looking for some flavorful food. This restaurant did not disappoint — the garlic naan and palak paneer I had was delicious, and my friend had the chili chicken which she also loved. Also the restaurant ended up giving us complimentary mango lassis and chai, which were similarly delicious. The owner was so friendly and welcoming, and I was delighted to find a place in this small town that transported me back to my own Punjabi family’s kitchen. I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Baños!!

Really good restaurant ! We had the butter chicken and palaak paneer and both were great. The service was also very good , they came to make sure everything was ok. You can also decide the level of spicy you want. I told the manager about my allergy and he showed me a picture to make sure he understood well with nuts I am allergic. I would definitely recommend !

Amazing tasty food in Banos

This restaurant was incredible! The food was very flavorful and they adjust the spice to exactly how you like it. I really recommend the chilly chicken, it was soooo good. The veggie samosas were also great and I loved the mango lassi! If you’re looking for a delicious meal at a reasonable price (and lots of vegetarian options if you want!), definitely stop by! The owner was very attentive as well.
