Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rated among with best 50 restaurants in the world, they offered early access pre-reservation on-line which they then sent a link to confirm the reservation a few days in advance. I was very happy to get in as their closest competitor Don Carlo is closed...and I would have felt like I missed a quintessential experience. They are on a residential street which was swarming with people drinking champagne upon arrival: festive. Inside the restaurant was attractive with brick and dark wood. The Vermu (vermouth spritzer) was a bit weak. They served an empanada as the amuse bouche. I had the prime rib which was exceptionally tender and would have been enough for 2 people. I admit it is hard to give a steak house a 5 star rating. It was however the best restaurant on my trip to Buenos Aires and I am a foodie.More

The food was great and memorable. But what stood out most was the level of service. They were very attentive. You really felt taken care of!

The food was very good, exceptional quality, however the level of service is in another level, from front office to service staff it was an absolute pleasure to see the well oiled team cohesion, well done to the staff and management, keep up the good...work. Service well beyond a Michelin star levelMore

The whole experience is absolutely tainted by the TERRIBLE reservation process. I have eaten (and made reservations for) about half the top 100 restaurants in the world and this is by far the worst process I’ve ever encountered I went on their website exactly 60...days in advance of the requested date (November 15, 2023 at 9:15 PM). I received an email stating they had received my request for early access and the link to their website indicated the reservation was pending as it was too early to confirm. Okay, I thought maybe the reservation would be confirmed 30 days in advance or at least two weeks in advance. Nope. We arrived in Mendoza a week before the requested date and asked the concierge there to call to find out the status of our reservation. She did speak to someone and literally on the call i received an email with a link to confirm my reservation for the date and time requested. I clicked on the link and confirmed the reservation immediately and received an email with the heading “Reservation Confirmed”. I assumed that the reservation was confirmed and didn’t immediately read the email so I’d be able to find it more easily later A few days later we arrived in Buenos Aires and I was reconfirming our reservation list and read the email from DonJulio which “confirmed” our reservation for November 14 at 6:15 PM (the day before my request and a time when they are closed). I tried to call, no answer, I asked the concierge and I contact them (no answer, but I think they may have reached them on WhatsApp). I also emailed the restaurant for clarification and received a message saying I could arrive at 6 PM and out my name on the waitlist for the 15th and see if a table became available- all this after booking 60 days in advance As I mentioned, I believe our second concierge reached them the day before our requested time and then i received another email asking me to again confirm my reservation, which I promptly did and received another message saying the reservation was confirmed (but I y this point I had no idea if it was really confirmed correctly We arrived at 9:05 for out 9:15 reservation and in the chaos that is their reception were just told to wait “over there” which was outside in the public space- but no indication of when we’d be seated, though apparently our name was on the reservation list. At 9:25 we were seated. But seriously, I’d never go again because of the reservation process The food was solid for a steakhouse, which to be honest, isn’t really my kind of restaurant and not actually something I would consider worthy of the hype. The service (except the reception) was great once we were seated. We had sweetbreads, beef empanadas and a ribeye steak. All were really good, but that extraordinary? That inventive? Not really and when you make customers jump through these kinds of hoops to get in it needs to be a lot more. Please, FIX your reservation process. Collect a CC for “no shows”. Or at least communicate the process and timing for making reservationsMore

Amazing dinner. totally worth it. The staff is excellent at dealing with "PIA" tourists. reservations are impossible, the best advice I can give is to show up at 5pm. and wait- the waitlist opens at 6pm, and you will get a table when the restaurant...opens at 7pm. By 6pm there were probably 150 online to put there name down - but we were number 1 since we got there at 5pm.More

no idea, why there is such a hype about this BBQ restaurant. the reception was horrible unorganised. the service at the table was good and friendly. the food was good, but it's nothing else than meat and veggies from the BBQ. the sauces are standard...(good). a GLASS !!! of whine ranges from 10 to 75 US$. how this restaurant can be in the top 50 of the world is for me a veeeery big question mark. either the testers were hungry or bribed. to visit that place is a waste of time and money.More

Considered the best restaurant for Steak in Buenos Aires, (or at least one of the top five, depending who you ask). Reservations are literally impossible to get so your best bet is to arrive at 11 in the morning and stand in line to be...able to get a table. The food is perfectly prepared, and the steaks here are outstanding, particularly the “Ojo de Bife” prepared “Jugoso” which would be medium for the US. While you wait outside, they frequently serve “empanadas” and drinks (sparkling wine) while you wait for your table, which makes it a unique experienceMore

I was expecting to cut my rib eye steak with a spoon like I had seen on video promotions and it just wasnt the case. I paid u$s 33.00 for a Prime cut of meat which wasnt any more tender than the $11.00 steak I...had tasted at a neighborhood restaurant a few days earlier. The balcony area was Hot from the heat from the grill...we were never asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. The meat was tasty but I honestly don't understand the over priced wine and meat and the 5 start reviews. Maybe they had a bad day, but there was 3 of us and we all felt the same....dissapointed.More

Wow! Okay - I first went to this place in 1999 when I was a student in Buenos Aires. It use to be a humble neighborhood parrilla. I've been back several times since, and now it's an absolute scene. I couldnt believe I had to...reserve a reservation 2 months in advance. Luckily, my hotel got us in, but at the ungodly (for Argentina) early hour of 7PM. We arrived and it was a total scene. TOTAL. BUT - they manage it well. As you wait in line, they pass by with empanadas, glasses of champagne, etc. Then, at the table, service was great. The food delicious. All the appetizers, drinks, etc. Steak fabulous as always. Really the highest quality. But what really stood out were some delicious steak fries we got. Unexpectedly delicious. And the panqueques with dulce de leche were phenomenal. This place is not cheap and you absolutely can get great steak elsewhere in Buenos Aires at a fraction of the cost, but the overall experience here was great. I'd recommend it, just book early.More

This is the prime spot in Buenos Aires! Put in reservation a couple months in advance. Absolutely superior beef, sides, wines, service! We were there to celebrate a significant birthday! The best! Make sure to have desert too!

This was the most incredible dining experience we have ever had. I don’t usually write reviews but this was worth a good review. The service was incredible and friendly, so attentive without being too much, the perfect balance. And the food was out of this...world. Thankyou don julio!More

We were surprised to be sent an email to confirm a reservation after a couple of failed attempts for a few previous evenings and had heard from several people how difficult it was to get a table. We hadn't been overly impressed by customer service...in Buenos Aires up to that point, however, were met at the door with champagne and from then on our wine glass was never allowed to be more than a few sips empty before one of the staff would swiftly return the glass to an adequate amount. The two of us sat at a large table facing directly the busy chefs who never stopped for one moment busily preparing all the steaks, sausages and vegetables on hot, flaming grills. Each cut of meat was carefully described to ensure we got exactly the steak we wished to have; my partner chose t-bone and I chose rib-eye, and both were cooked perfectly to our tastes. The wines were equally as explicitly described and we enjoyed a delicious cabernet sauvignon. The empanadas and side dishes were all really nice, as was the ice cream. However, the grilled cheese and asparagus we had at the beginning of the meal was absolutely scrumptious! Many thanks to Oscar, our waiter for the evening, and everyone else who worked so hard to make our evening so memorable.More

My partner and I were lucky enough to get a reservation there for dinner thanks to our hotel concierge, and we had a wonderful dinner. The steaks were amazing of course, but so was the bread, sides, appetizers and almond ice cream. They also give...you complimentary sparking wine and empanadas when you first arrive (they also provide them to the walk-ins waiting outside for a table). The service was also very good, and perhaps it's the USD-pesos exchange rate, but it was not very expensive.More
