We had a fantastic evening at Antojitos Hoedspruit, the staff, management and owners were very friendly and attentive. The view of the mountains is incredible. The food was delicious and we will definitely be back to try many other items on the menu.

This was hands down one of the best flavour experiences I've had ever. Hoedspruit and anyone visiting MUST do themselves a favour to experience freshness, passion and absolute value of money!!!! Dont think of Mexican food as too hot, the flavours are insane!!! If you do want heat however, just speak to to Red Chef to sort you out.

Great spot in Hoedspruit! Firstly the views are stunning! As a vegan customer it's very rare to find a restaurant with so many options & options that are on the menu as standard (so you don't have to call to ask!) Good is great & cocktails brilliant. Highly recommend & I'll be back!

The restaurant looks great and the staff is very welcoming and caring. The drinks list is massive, and priced fairly. Our margaritas were the real thing, and we enjoyed them. The nacho starter was average. The consistency of the guacamole was odd. I ordered the Caesar salad for my main course (many people don't realize that Caesar salad originated in Mexico!). It really did not resemble a Caesar salad in any respect. For starters, there was no parmesan cheese in it at all. There was a lot of shredded chicken, far too many croutons, and a bit of lettuce, but it was all drowning in a dressing that was nothing like a traditional Caesar dressing.
I will certainly give the place another try. My sense is that they are trying to do far too much, particularly for a new restaurant. The menu is twelve pages long (!) and includes many curries, peri-peri dishes, and even paella -- none of which belong on a Mexican menu. The menu should be pared back to one or two pages at most. Offer fewer items, and make each dish outstanding, rather than trying to be everything to everyone. This will also be easier on the staff, who were clearly overwhelmed when placing orders on an electronic device, as there are simply too many items on the menu for them to easily manage.

Hi Lisa! Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated. Especially the margaritas, as we got a bit of slander on socials - the same recipe, from folks who had spent some time in Texas. It goes to show!
There are too many sources laying claim to the Caesar so I'm not surprised many won't know it originated in Mexico, by an Italian chef. (I think). There are also too many opinions about the traditional dressing! However, I do hear yours, and will most definitely take it on board! Thank you.
Correct, we have an "Immigrants" section and a "Curries" section, all of which are dear to our Chef, owner of Antojitos. Everything we offer is on our menu because it is dear to us, and it is our passion. There are many explanations on the menu, adding to its length.
Our staff are all trainees, who have not spent much time in a restaurant setting - but are doing incredibly well considering we've been open for just over a week. The overwhelm will work itself out. My team are all very quick learners.
I do thank you for taking the time to write a review, and look forward to welcoming you back - and hope we blow your socks off next time around.

Antojitos looked so promising when we arrived there: nice décor, beautiful view of the mountain, friendly staff, including the owner. And the prices are good too. But, unfortunately, we were disappointed. Flautas are supposed to be fried; ours was basically just a wrap, unfried. Chiles Rellenos should be made with roasted pepper; ours was made with a raw green pepper, which was way too thick anyway to work in a dish like that. On the positive side, we really enjoyed the tomato salsa.

We were a group of 12 on their opening night. The restaurant was busy and full of action with an excellent ambiance and vibe. Of course Donovan has Mexican chili to put hairs on your tongue too. Donovan is well known to most people in Hoedspruit as the former owner of SupaQuick for decades.

We had an amazing time at Antojitos! The staff were friendly and super accommodating! The food was excellent, the mexican flavors were prominent! I would recommend the tacos an jalapeno poppers!! Spicy and just right! The cocktails were delicious and the bar even made special grapefruit cocktail so true to the area!

Such a great place with such a lekker vibe! The owners are friendly and unlike many other places they're actually around and make you feel at home. And the food and drinks are exceptional! I'd definitely recommend giving them a try!

Wow! There were five of us in our party, amongst them one vegetarian (me), and I must say that I had the widest variety of choice that I have seen in many years. The menu is extensive with not only, Mexican, spicy or hot choices but also vegan and a section of the most enjoyed and popular choices of the general South African population, in other words something for everyone. We started with a selection of six starters which we shared amongst us - everyone agreed that they were all really, really good. Then onto the mains we all chose something different, and everyone said that theirs must surely be the best. The deserts, well we just couldn’t eat anymore, but tried one of the “in House” ice creams which we passed around, it was fantastic. We all agreed that the food was the best we have had in the area. One of our party commented that “You won’t find better even if you travel to Nelspruit!”. The atmosphere was wonderful, the service was good, our waiter was attentive – what a joy! To top that all off, the portions are definitely not small (large) and the cost more affordable than most restaurants. If you are looking for a restaurant with a wonderful view, atmosphere and excellent food this is one that I highly recommend you try. Having said that I think the word about Antojitos Mexican Cantina in Hoedspruit is already spreading – there were people waiting outside for tables to become available – I suggest that you book in advance. You can thank me when you have been there!

We had the most scrumptious lunch filled with the most tasty flavours. The turnaround time was quick and the food was presented beautifully. Will definitely be back- especially for the cocktail evenings 🤩!
