We were enjoying the atmosphere until 4 little girls started taunting a small parrot in the room. They shrieks and carried on, with their parents only encouraging them by taking photos. Eventually another table complained, so luckily peace prevailed. Our food was good (fish and chips and smoked trout), but there were no thirsty Giraffe's to be seen!!

Plain and simple, wonderful. Fantastic food and efficient service. Seafood is probably the tastiest i have ever had. Vic, owner and chef can certainly prepare any meal that will awaken your taste buds. Leigh and her staff will be sure you get the best service. Its a great environment, with the famous donkeys who pop over to greet the guests on occasions. Every dish has its flavor and you will be back for more. Thank you to everyone at Thirsty Giraffe. For those who have not been there, just do it.

Feels like home

If you a foreigner to these parts, as I am, this is a truly convivial spot for a meal with friends. It seems that the local population frequents here, and they gladly extend their welcome to any outsiders. With it’s party atmosphere, good food and selection of drinks, it’s a very good place to go with old friends and meet lots of new ones. Even the resident donkey welcomes everyone!

Blatant racists

We were met at the door by a hostess who was hostile. She turned us (black family) away and allowed a white family in, there was no reservation for this family. The manager came and apologized and blamed covid 19 for their conduct, a new low. We watched in disbelieve as the hostess turned away more black people. We watched afrikaner customers treat african waiter in the most appalling manners. It all got too much we canceled our order and left. The manager tried to convince us to stay but we felt very unsafe in that environment.

Fabulous atmosphere, good food

The service and consistently good food makes this a great place for a relaxing lunch or dinner. The chicken espetada is a firm favourite, served with the best chips in town. Well worth a visit.

Top class late lunch!

We had the most amazing late lunch. A 600gm well aged T bone, a Steak and Guinness pie to die for and a chicken Espetada which was 5 delicious deboned thighs. We will be back soon on our next visit to Hoedspruit.

Awesome food and menu

Had an amazing lunch there and they have a great menu with a fairly wide selection of different dishes. we tried a few, Livers and Onins, Burger, T Bone and Pizza . All were delicious and in particular the 700gm T Bone, grilled to perfection. Will be back.

Pub vibe with the best prawns

To be fair you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Pizzas, burgers all good! Great vibe - we watched an epic game of rugby. You should book - loads of local flavour - as it is popular! Owner run, great service, go thirsty!

Great place to chill

Short drive out of Hoedspruit. Very friendly staff and owner. Nice menu and reasonably priced. Very friendly horses and donkeys that visit the bar late afternoon. No rush here, they want you to relax and chill. We'll worth the visit. Portions not small and freshly made. Great place to support.

Meet the locals

A little hidden gem close to Hoedspruit, came here to meet with some local friends and what a wonderful seafood platter. Friendly service, cool dishes for kids and a very relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

The best restaurant in Limpopo

We arrived with twelve guests and stayed and served without any problems. The food was top notch and served all together. The dessert was exceptional and our waitress was on the ball. Well done to the owner and staff. I will definitely be back with more foreign guests. Loved the donkeys....

Amazing food and restaurant

Service friendly and efficient. Prices excellent and food consistently the best. Not many places that have donkeys come visit you inside the restaurant. These guys are loved and well looked after.

We had a fantastic meal at The Thirsty Giraffe. The food was fresh and brilliant quality. I particularly recommend the prawns. It was one of our favourite meals during our trip around South Africa.

Great and Tasty vibes

Very ambi place with good casual vibes. The food is excellent, the staff super friendly and helpful. Special credits for the manager : she really masters the art of how to treat customers and crew. The occasional visit of the home donkey makes it all!
