Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I had lunch at this upper level restaurant arriving at 12:30 finding the tables nearly full of visitors and locals. As we scanned the handwritten wallboards, the managing lady arrived with printed lunch menus and thanked us for returning as she was closed yesterday. We ordered 1 egg drop-meat soup and 1 fried chicken, rice, glass noodles with a small bowl of soup and 2 bottles of water.
Everything was served as it came hot out of the kitchen, well cooked and in large portions, deserving of the $17, paid in cash only.
If we were staying longer on Yap, this is the place we would return to try different menu items.
Also enjoyed seeing the end of the NFL Playoff game on their large TV.

My husband and I went to Ganir restaurant for 5 nights during dinner time. We both enjoyed their food a lot. We ordered curry chicken and chicken afritada twice, beef broccoli 3 times, grilled chicken and green salad. They were really tasty. We also ordered cheese burgers to go for next day lunch on the boat since we were diving during the day.
Great value with delicious food compared to another Filipino restaurant we went to on the first day ( Oasis restaurant if I remember it right) .
Only downside of this restaurant is they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. So we had to eat at our hotel restaurant, which is a slight step-down compared to Ganir.
In fact, I loved their chicken afritada so much that I learned how to make it from the chef there. And I made it at home last night and it was tasty as well!!! :-)

This place is right near the outrigger canoe dock and the government complex. The food is decent and it stays open between the lunch and dinner hours. Also has an outdoor eating option. Went with friends and shared our meals. Returned and ordered what a friend had on the prior visit, the dish was totally different and not that great so consistency may be an issue.

I'm a huge fan of the Regular Ramen and then I also get a Pepsi. $5 total. Can't be beat. A very filling and even healthy ramen (noodles in a nice broth with pork, ham, and veggies to boot - you can have them do chicken instead for a slight extra charge). They have specials each day from 11A-1:30P which are also quite good. Nothing fancy but definitely a treat.

Walked in to have lunch, it’s supposed to have Filipino dishes but when asked on certain dishes they didn’t have. The adobo wasn’t to bad but was made differently with a few veggies? Sauce as well had its own taste.

Large portion of tasty food. I was the only one in the restaurant and it took awhile to get my food because he made it fresh. Yum. No complaints from me.

This simple like cafe offered great coffee and pastries. The people were friendly; ready to take your order and provided the best drinks and food in the house.

Tried it once and its menu seems to be Asian style food. I ordered the sweat and sour pork, and it comes with corn soup, a salad, and rice. Big portion and good price about $8. Also, got a big tv showing sports (it was showing the Orange Bowl live).

Ganir is located upon the second level of the YCA building. The interior is small but has a TV you can watch. There is also outdoor covered seating where you can look out at the bay. This is not a bad place to capitalize on happy hour and grab a relatively cheap beer.
Seating is wooden benches and your typical cheap plastic chairs.
The food is moderately priced but not overtly impressive. They have decent portions.

I recently spent 3 weeks in Yap, eating at the Ganir virtually every night. I worked my way through the menu! The food is great. Staff are very friendly and the service is swift too. It's only a couple of hundred yards away from the Manta Ray Bay Resort, which makes it handy too.

Only ate there twice, but I was happy w/the food, especially the portions. The salisbury steak w/gravy was good, and came w/a huge serving of rice.

We checked other sources and found a lot of good reviews for this place. So... why not try it, right?
Well, this place is a tease. -__- There's a really great menu on the corner wall (right above the cash register) that lists great prices for coconut crab and mangrove crab. When we asked about them, we found out that they haven't carried those items for years.
So we tried something else. A little disappointment never hurt anyone...? We ordered their special... which was still $7.95 when we paid (so I'm not sure what happened in underwaterfun's case). Asked for a coconut, but they were also out. What was their special? Canned mixed vegetables, rice, a couple slices of frozen tuna sashimi, and I think there was something else, but completely not memorable enough.
Why 2 stars? Taste was bland, quality was not great (maybe average), and the menu was filled with broken promises. On the flip side, the food's cheap (compared to the Manta Ray Resort), food came out fast, and the owner was nice...

The prices were very reasonable and the portions extravagant, the food was salty but deliciously fresh!
