Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came upon JBs after not being able to eat at another choice that had closed. The cafe is part of a department store complex. We had coffees, Moroccan chicken souvlakis, and an orange almond cake. Our coffee did not have a nice dark caramel...coloured crema, and unfortunately the coffee flavour itself was nondescript. I had high hopes for the Morocan chicken, but the flavour was only okay. The pita bread it was served on was a bit moist and doughy. The orange almond cake was quite good and not too sweet, and the icing was at least not too much and not too sweet and we enjoyed that.More

If you have staff going off for lunch then others coming on maybe get together and see what has been done or taken out and what hasn’t. The service was disorganised and then the blame put onto the customer ‘next time come up to the...counter’ . You actually shouldn’t have to chase things up (twice)More

Staff are friendly. The GF items are mixed amid the regular - this is not good for coeliac and makes me distrustful of the GF/regular fare handling in the kitchen. I didn't notice the staff member using special separate tongs for GF items. Every time...I've been the coffee comes nearly 10mins after I have sat down with food - followed with a 'sorry about the delay'. The milkshake machine was broken last time I went in. This time a group of 6 of us went in - had to pay for the pink ribbon promotion separately which was a pain - no warning of this. A lot of fiddling around at the counter while the queue grows. The first 3 of us were served and then coffees 10mins late with the usual apology. The second half was told 'will get yours straight away' which was after several take-away coffees were done - yet another 10mins. Between our first 3 and second 3 servings of coffee, the beans were changed in the machine - first 3 had nice coffee - mine was bitter and unappetising. The staff are sweet, the service is not. The Cafe needs a rethink of its structure and speed. Atmosphere is enhanced by good food, coffee and service.More

Staff were having a bad day with appliances not working eg no toaster so cheese rolls and toasted sandwiches off the menu. The tomato soup we all agreed was no more that a can of crushed tomatoes and served with a pale cold bun with...unmelted garlic butter inside. Left unsatisfied.More

Always a pleasant place to eat. Their hot chocolate is devine and muffins are lovely and fresh. A relaxing place wish newspapers and magazine to view.

I'm a regular at the Christchurch JB's, so was expecting a similar standard of food here. I was disappointed with the choices and the food wasn't particularly flavoursome. I would probably not return next time I'm passing thru.

I came here for lunch and had a very nice Caesar Salad. I also had a coffee which could have been a bit hotter (not boiling though) but it was at a strength to my liking.

My husband and I both had stuffed potatoes. Although they clearly had corn in them and some sort of cheese, they were tasteless. We added a little salt and pepper but it didn't help much. It needs a good additional of very tasty cheese.

3 times visited & 3 times disappointed. Stale muffin, lukewarm coffee, no idea how to communicate with & value their customers. No more.

JB’s definitely delivers a great selection of food, sausage and cheese roll, a variety of slices and quiches. All of these were presented very well and tasted great! On the other hand the coffee was a bit on the bland side with a chai latte...which was very weak although I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that their actual coffee reflects the food! Overall I can say this is a great place for lunch and it’s quite reasonable as well.More

Food rather basic and our savoury not even hot, coffee was not the best either. Okay I guess for a quick snack but chairs are hard and no atmosphere either and quite pricey some of the food range

Good amount of cabinet food to choose from, something to please most. Often a soup on offer in the winter which is nice. Can take some time to receive your food even when not particularly busy.
