Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food was absolutely beautiful. The spices in each dish were very distinctive, but mello with spice like we like it, just ask. Restaurant is very clean and staff friendly and accommodating. What a treat. So glad we wandered in. We'll definitely return when we're...back in this area.More

Always enjoyable. Not a huge amount of chicken in it. New Young lady working there & so much friendlier!

This is seriously amazing food. I have never tasted the depth of flavour in a butter chicken ever ….. and I’ve eaten a lot of it over the years. So rich, full of meat and ahhhhh the taste. I even kept the left over gravy...& used it as a dip the next day. Fricken amazing - you have to taste it.More

2 more tasty takeaway curries tonight. Both the Saag Chicken & Lamb Rogan Josh were well prepared (and not the least bit oily!). Good value for money.

I stopped in Timaru for a late lunch the week before Christmas and did not want "fast" food and saw this place and thought I would give it a go. Had the place to myself and the couple were very friendly and the food was...awesome. Very tasty vegetable briyani. Would highly recommendMore

We are huge Indian cuisine fans and it seems to be top of the list of takeaways for our family as we travel but i have to say this place has to be the worse! My husband had to literally pour out the excess oil...from our curry and our garlic naan was basically a plain naan. Maybe have been an off night for them as it wasn't busy at all. But to be fair it didn't look like a nice warm atmosphere to dine in. I would suggest if you were to get food from here to takeaway.More

Won't come back in a hurry I've had much better Indian than what this shop offers. The Buttered chicken tasted like Watties condensed soup with a touch of curry powder. Indian food in Timaru is very average to poor anyway, I prefer to go to...Christchurch.More

As South Africans, we've had a fair share of curries. And this curry is by far the best we've had. I highly recommend the chicken tikka masala, it is a rich thick curry with so much flavour! Portion sizes are generous, and their garlic naan...bread is simply fantastic.More

Stopped by while travelling through Timaru on a Friday evening the place was deserted but may have just caught them on a slow night. We ordered butter chicken (mild), papadums and naan bread. Service was quick and friendly however the naan and papadums were reasonably...burnt (more than normal) and the butter chicken was extremely hot and spicy considering we asked for mild. Butter chicken also tasted like it had come from a jar. Ive eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants and this has to be the worst by a long shot.More

We went there for dinner. The staff was very friendly and fast. The food was great, it had the right mix of spices and was not too hot for us. Really great location.

We wanted a sit down meal within walking distance of our campsite. We were faced with this or the Japanese next door. As we had frequently eaten Asian food over the past month of our holiday and not one Indian meal we decided to eat...here. What a good decision, and it should feature much higher up the rankings. We had the mixed Tandoori starter which was served piping hot and was excellent. So were our mains, served with a large bowl of rice, which a lot was left as we were so full. The service was quick and polite. We had finished our 2 courses in just over an hour of entering. There was just one other couple eating inside and about 3 takeaway orders collected. Come in and give it a try.More

The Tandoori King Restuart is in a block of several other other food outlets and opposite two large Fast Food companies - and yet they provided very competetive prices and superb food in quick time. Just the ticket for the passing tourist. Easy parking and...wonderful service - both dine-in and take away service.More

When I lived in Timaru, my family and I would always choose this Indian place to eat from. It is more commonly known for it's takeaway but would imagine the dining experience would be fairly similar! The food comes in great portions with an authentic...tasting Indian style which I'm sure is what makes this small restaurant so appealing. It's consistent and is right on the main road! The staff are polite and I would personally choose this place over any other Indian restaurants in Timaru purely because of the food and value.More
