Called in for brunch. Service was very slow and waited 40 minutes. meal was of a very generous size perhaps almost to big. Coffee was also slow in arriving and only average. Staff not overly friendly or welcoming. Cabinet and menu food available. Has garden...centre and giftware in complex.More
We were not overly impressed with the food selection range in the cabinet (no savouries) and unwelcoming staff. We were given a knife instead of a fork to eat our cake with. The staff were wearing quite dirty looking aprons which didn't look very good....Coffee not made properlyMore
I recently visited Lushingtons nursery and restaurant. The breakfast I ordered was fantastic!!! I ordered a breakfast with eggs and bacon etc and they brought me this huge plate of food piled with egg, bacon, mushrooms etc for what I paid I got real value...for money and the food was well cooked and tasted really good. Service was great as well and prices are reasonable. Nursery is also well run and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Lushingtons to anyone wanting to shop for plants and dine in the restaurant. You won't be sorry!!!More
Decor is ok, but really a garden centre shouldn't, in my opinion, be decorating with plastic ivy and plastic flowers. 3/5 Even a little pot plant would be better on the tables.
Food again ok but my seafood chowder would have been so much nicer...without the mussel beards. 4/5
Staff friendly and helpful, 5/5
Price was 40+ for one chowder, 2 hot drinks and 2 cheesecakes and was a little steep in my opinion. 3/5
Cleanliness wasn't great, the coaster was really grubby and the table hadn't been wiped down. 3/5.
And the chairs were rocky. I took several goes to find a stable one.
Frankly, we have plenty of choice of venue, don't know if I'll bother returning.More
My sisters and I go playing once a week (in other words, get in the car and go where ever we feel like for the day), this day we ended up in Ashburton for awhile. We decided on Lushington's for lunch as our next stop...was Mayfield.
We all had the Smoked, Salted Lamb. I found it to be perfect, but the other two found it to be very salty. (Hence the name.)
The atmosphere was pleasant and after, if we wished we could look around the plants in the nursery, (We didn't.)
The facilities (toilet), were clean and well maintained.
If you are passing, a good place to go for lunch.More
